Weight Loss I'm taking a poll. What do you do with extra calories. Mar 23 2008

when i was completely obssessed with dieting and food i would feel really guilty about any extra calories so would make sure to eat less the next few days, or exercise more to make it up. But now i'm a lot more relaxed about it all so tend to think 'who cares, i messed up for one day!' and carry on as usual the next day. i dont think its ever affected my weight loss either!

Weight Loss Are we obsessing? Mar 20 2008

i agree with everyone else in the sense that at first u will be obssessed because thats the only you will control what you're eating. With time it gets easier though, u soon get used to the calories in most of the things u eat.  Eventually u will be able to eat all day without counting calories but still know roughly how many u ate cos u'll be educated enough to be able to look at a plate of food and guess the calories. All in good time!

With some things you can live with a low cal version, especially if u get used to it. like now im so used to low cal mayo that i cant even remember what full fat mayo tastes like. but with some things, low cal just doesnt cut it so for me its

Nutella

Peanut Butter

Cookie dough /chocolate fudge brownie ice cream

Pizza (extra cheesy, hmmm)

Hi jynx013 and everyone else! I would also love to join this thread. So many of your posts sound just like my story - chocalate/big meals/student etc so i hope we can all help and support each other in the coming months!

I started on CC last April, lost about 10 lbs but then fell off the wagon for a while - put it all back on:-( - but now im back with a vengeance (its been a week) and hoping to get rid of this weight once and for all!!!!

Im 21 years old. Starting weight, last week was 156lbs, this week im down 2lbs.

Good luck to everyone!!

i love it that theres so many cc addicts out there!! im on it everyday too, few times a day to check for updates. it definately helps keep me motivated. sometimes when im feeling a binge coming on, i check out the forums to read some stuff to help put a stop to it!

i would be lost without cc. and a whole lot heavier!

Weight Loss Why do people look at me like I'm lying when I tell them how I lost weight Sep 16 2007

someone said that people who are not 'there' yet dont want to know that there is no secret. i completely agree with that cos i was once in that position. dont get me wrong i've never been mean to anybody about weight loss but i remember when i first started dieting i was about 14. I did weight watchers on and off for about 6 years. Not suprisingly i'd lose about half a stone and then put it all on again. A viscious cycle. My brother kept telling me that 'diets dont work'. He told me to eat less, control portions and EXERCISE. He had lost a huge amount of weight doing exactly that. Oh but i didnt listen to him did i! Even though i could see that he had lost the weight. Why would a teenager listen to her older brother? Lol. Atlast when i hit 20 it hit me that diets dont work. It took me 6 years to figure that out. And now ive just turned 21 and calorie counting/exercising has been working great for me. I feel healthy, happy and most importantly i'm not obssessed with thoughts of food like i was before, because calorie counting allows me to eat what i want, when i want, as long as i count it in.

I realize i've gone off the tangent but just though i'd share that!

hay quicksilver. for you to post the above its clear that you have some form of motivation somewhere, so thats a good thing! it was really hard for me to find the motivation to exercise and eat right before i found my cc friends. for me, the key to weight loss is SUPPORT. Knowing that there are lots of other people in the same boat helps me to keep my calories and exercise in check. i dont know what help i can be, but i will definately recommend you to make full use of all the tools on this website - you will be helped along the way by the great cc members.

hopefully someone else will come along and maybe suggest a work out plan that will suit you and tips and tricks.

try to ignore the foolish people who call you names, they're ignorant morons who dont care how others feel.

i hope this helps in some small way. well done for taking the first step and good luck!!

i sympathise with you modestlacey. i felt the first few weeks were the hardest too. i guess its different for everyone bu twith me keeping a strict allowance of what to eat and motivating myseld to exercise in the first few weeks was v.hard cos it was all new to me and i was used to jsut popping things in my mouth and exercise never happened before. But funnily enough i lost most weight in the first few weeks although i found it so hard. i;ve lost 6lbs up to now which isn't much but im ok with slow and steady, it shows that i can do this, no matter how hard it maybe. keep at it, u will see the results soon enough and everyday of this hard work will become worthwile. we're all here to support you!

good luck!

i have to agree with everyone here - we can all beat the weight - coming onto cc has seriously changed the way i look at food, eating and exercise. im not saying ive been good since i started (april this year) cos i so havent! there have been days and weeks where ive been off track but the great thing is that i know i can always start afresh and i know that cc will always be there when i come back after a bad patch...and all my fellow cc'ers will also be there, waiting with words of encouragement.

like shannonbuell said - you cannot quit! so good luck and we're all here to support you!
