fresh produce, (fruits and vegetables), and chicken, is not more expensive than jenny craig or nutri system plans, not where i live (chicago, il)  where do you live?  try the sale papers and produce markets instead of major grocery stores?

if you lost 4 lbs.(2 lbs a week) after starting only 2 weeks ago, you are doing very well.  congratulations.  but you sound disappointed. how much more should you have lost in that time. CC advocates 2 lbs a week as the healthiest way to lose.

I agree with post #15 lbalthazor....and I would like to prepare you for the fact that most children are taller and bigger than their parents, this is natural (each generation is a little larger than the last). You may one day be taller than your mom. Is or was your mom taller than your grandma?  It was like this in my family and most other families as well.  It happens with males too.

8 months is a long time but dont give up

you both say your meals are not restricted, i dont know what that means but it sounds like you are eating healthy enough to maintain your wieght.

I would count calories (intake and expenditure), at least for a month and see what happens

I have 11 more to lose.  good luck.

you are right.  before you know it, the workout is over.  i love turbo jam,  especially turbo scuplt.

i was wondering about slim in 6, is that series a lighter or heavier workout than turbo jam??

and what about Power 90? that must be a more intense workout, but i don't know for sure.  if anyone has done both, please let me know, because I will need more intensity shortly.

thank you
Fitness Thnking about getting a bike... Mar 26 2007

definitely by a hybrid bike (that is a bike with medium tread tires also known as a cross bike (in between a mountain bike(heavy tires) and road bike (skinny tires))

I have kids (boys) who have mountain bikes and I can keep up with them (including dirt, limestone and paved paths because the tires are not heavy.  I love the hybrid tires.

Go to a bike store to get a bike fitted to your body. they will measure your inseam, torso etc. riding  a bike that is not your size could cause back problems and wrist problems. It is about wieght distribution. Too much weight on your wrists will cause you to ride less.  Have fun.  I love my bike and have ridden on every type of surface.

dear thesilverstar121, and impkitti,

I have 3 questions

How many calories more did you "up" or increase each day?

What was your deficit of calories on average each day?

How soon after "upping" the calories did you notice your loss?

Thanks for sharing.   Christine(chpastor)

Be patient. It is a long process. Keep counting calories. Don't eat the kids leftovers even if you were raised not to waste food.

I thought I drank a lot but you beat me. I drink 8 cups  (8 measuring cups,  almost 1 pot) each morning.

I'm not changing that.   I have not heard either way that coffee affects weight loss (besides cream and sugar, of course)

well, this guy thinks spelling is a big deal

from the Chicago Tribune

"CHI-TONW" tattoo lawsuit filed.

By Emma Graves Fitzsimmons
Tribune staff reporter
Published March 1, 2007, 9:08 PM CST

Michael Duplessis loves Chicago so much that he wanted its nickname tattooed on his chest.

But the idea went terribly awry in a North Side tattoo parlor: He left with the word "CHI-TONW" inked into his skin where "CHI-TOWN" should have been.

Now Duplessis is suing the business and the tattoo artist for monetary damages in the 2005 mess after suffering what he says in his lawsuit was "emotional distress from public ridicule."

"It was so embarrassing," Duplessis, 40, said Thursday from his home on the Northwest Side. "It was on my chest, and it was spelled wrong. I had to deal with all the people teasing me about it."

The lawsuit, filed Feb. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, names Jade Dragon Tattoo & Body Piercing, 5331 W. Belmont Ave. It also named artist Sam Hacker and contractor Mad Hacker Inc. as defendants.

Included in the lawsuit is a drawing of the tattoo Duplessis said he wanted. It shows the word "CHI-TOWN" above an image of the John Hancock Center. The mechanic paid $250 for the tattoo on April 1, 2005, according to the suit.

Duplessis signed a release, but the defendants modified it once the error occurred by writing "chi-tonw" across the top of the form, according to the lawsuit.

Joseph "Fat Joe" Scapini, the owner of the tattoo store, did not return calls for comment Thursday. Neither did Duplessis' lawyer John O. Noland Jr.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of negligence and asks for actual damages and attorney fees. It says Duplessis "endured pain and suffering" from a procedure to fix the misspelled tattoo, in addition to a "loss of self-esteem and psychological pain."

Duplessis refused to say whether the tattoo had been fixed, but the lawsuit said he "will continue to be injured and disfigured and to suffer in the future." The suit did not say when the procedure occurred to fix the tattoo.

In a past Tribune interview, Scapini said he started Jade Dragon Tattoo in 1980. He said in 1997 that the store performed thousands of tattoos a month with more than a dozen artists.

or maybe you just saw a heavy stranger eat that cheeseburger on their "cheat day" which I never heard of until this site.

I "have less empathy" with people who I have known for a long time at work, school, etc. that have been complaining, but they can do what they want, it is not my business.

I lost one more pound, which means 2 lbs. total, lost in February. This supports the theory that alcohol stalls weight loss, well at least as much as I was drinking. In January I lost 5 pounds while counting the alcohol calories but that is not healthy.  In March, I am going to continue not drinking. But if I go out for steak, I may have one glass of red wine and count it, but that's all.

This losing business is a slow process. I am 153, down from 160. I want to be at 145, (maybe 140). Since I am 5' 4",  and middle aged, I will see what my metabolism will do.

I hope everyone else if well.
Motivation Oprah, lost motivation Feb 27 2007

I read that Oprah did want to open up a school here, but when she asked children here what they most wanted, they answered, "an IPOD" whereas the children in Africa answered, "an education".  Many kids (and adults) here don't value education. For example, womewhere on this site is a thread about how spelling is not important.

Oprah is a human being, and middle aged,  and probably in menopause. Each person is responsible for their own weight. Her fluctuation in weight should have nothing to do with anyone else's weight problem or anyone's motivation or anyone's depression.

She must be tired of being judged for her weight instead of her intellect.
