So today was the heavy push day. Leg press, glute extension, leg extention, etc. I feel like I'm walking around on jello, so I think the workout went pretty well. And then the water walking started out pretty painful, but got alot better in the last 15 minutes. Question. should I plan in a week of rest after two full rotations (about 4 weeks)? BTW, a nice drop in weight today!! |

The 3rd day of lifting went pretty well yesterday. I have come up with a rule of thumb that seems to work. Lifting as heavy as possible for the Monday 5x5 workout. For Wednesday's 4x10 I lifet about 75% of the Monday's weight. Then Friday's 3x15 is 50% of Monday's lift. Seems to work pretty good right now. I'm feeling strong and flexable today, with just a bit of muscle soreness. I think that I have finally made it back to the shape I was in before I had pnemonia. The bad news is that I'm about 30 pounds heavier now. Ahh well!! On the right track. |

Hey melkor, Day 2 of the new workout plan. Went with a Push day, btw the more difficult of the two workouts, and went with the 4x10 today. Reducing the weight by about a third of the last time I lifeted using the Cybrex machines. I started the workout by doing a half set of cardio. I plan to add some of the dynamic mobility drills to the pre weights cardio starting Friday. The cardio was 10 minutes on the bike, and 6 minutes on the stepper. The I hit the Cybex machines for 40 minutes. Then 20 minutes of stretching, followed by 30 minutes of water walking. It was an excellent workout. My muscle were shaking like jello during my stretch< and I'm feeling it pretty good The only thing that really bugs me is that the chest press, and overhead press, are both eating me up on very low weights. I think I ended up doing tthe overhead at only ten pounds. And Monday I was only able to do 30 pounds on the arm curl. But then I can lat 170, and the arm extention was pretty good at 50 pounds. Just don't get what's going on with my arms. Going to do my regular cardio tomorrow, and then the 3x15 Cybrex on Friday. And the cardio again on Sat. |

Well, on the recline bike, the intensity is pretty close to the top. And the stepper is pretty intense as well. |

Eat less?!? Wow, not so sure I'm on board with that!! LOL! But I am in this for weight loss. And just 100 minutes a week on cardio?? Hmm?? And I plan to cut back the cardio when I start a two week weight rotation next Monday. But when not lifting, gotta hit the cardio. Melkor my man, my clothes are fitting better, I feel better, and I know I am about to have some weight loss. Your opinion please. |

| Weight Loss | Gone from eating 2000-3000 cal a day to about 100 - 200 - This hurts! | Jul 13 2009 16:33 (UTC) |

OK!! Now you got the king of this kind of craziness!! When I was at 600+ pounds, I went a week without eating anything, and it damn near killed me!! Short term stunts like this may help you get your program started, but there simply is no replacement for hard work over a long period. You are only 23, so do you want to yoyo your weight for the next 60 years, or do you want a healthy plan to last a lifetime. There simply is no replacement for strong calorie management, plenty of activity, and determination to stick to your fitness program. Life is a marathon, so you have to look at you fitness program in the long term. Losing a few pounds in a week is fine, but the real goal is leading a healthy, active life. Have a greta day, and keep us posted!! |

| Weight Loss | Is eating six meals a day really the answer? | Jul 13 2009 02:50 (UTC) |

Sorry, but there is no right answer. A person has to try different approaches to find what is right for them. No easy answers, but hard work, good calorie management, plenty of activity, and a good attitude will carry a person a long way. |

I know soooo how you feel. I have been stuck in the 390's for what seems forever, but people have been complimenting me on the weight lose, and I want to scream "But there is no weight lose!!!" It's your body moving things around. Keep up the right lifestyle, and the weight will come down. And that muscle you are building, and toning, will sure help burn those cals!! Keep up the good work!! |

Thanks everyone!! Will give the cherry coke zero a try, or maybe go back to making Iced tea again. I use just enough simple syrup in the tea to take off that bitter edge. But damn do I enjoy that Fountain cherry coke And as for the take out, the more I think about when I do the really bad food (Rally's/Checker's) is when I am in a low and looking for comfort. And those chicken wings Rally's just introduced are simply to die for. But everything at Rally's is good, just not good for you. After all, Rally's doesn't post nutritional info about there food. Gotta be a reason for that! Still love them wings though!! |

A big congrats on that 6 pounds!!! Remember, The more we workout, the fitter we get. Being fit burns more cals. The more cals we consume, the more we can workout. So try a few more cals, and something new at the gym, and you might see the scale move the way you want. Keep us updated!! |

| Fitness | Too much Cardio ? | Mar 11 2009 20:25 (UTC) |

Now I know through the end of this weight cycle things are going to get tough, and that by next Friday I'll be glad it is over. But then at the end of two weeks of weights, i always skip that Saturday's cardio so I have 2 full days off before beginning a week of cardio only. BTW, your advice on the reverse motion on the stepper to help with back pain was right on the money. I now do 6 minutes forward and 6 backwards in 2 minute increments. I recomend this to anyone with a lot of lower back pain. |

I've been wondering about this too. My cardio workout is 20 min on the recline bike (cal burn of about 240), 12 minutes on the stepper (cal burn 235), and 5 minutes top XT (bike for arms) cal burn of about 45. And 440 meters of water walking with a cal burn around 400. Plus about 25 minutes of stretching at the end of the workout. Now I have been doing this pretty regularly the past few weeks, missing a day now and again, but feeling good!!! My question is should I cut this back on days I lift weights, and do I need to plan more off days than every Sunday when the Y is closed? |

OK!! Today was the first Pull day, while last Monday was the First push day, and I have had some surprises. Mostly in the area of to heavy starting weights, but a few weights that were too light as well. And the 5 by 5 sets are working out nicely, except I am not sure how much to rest between sets. I have been doing a 20 count, but have been thinking of cutting to a 15 count. And get this my man!!! I have been finishing off the gym part of my workout, right after my stretch, by doing some planks. At first I was surprised I could do them at all, but now I am up to doing 3 of them for a 60 count (about 45-50 seconds) to top off the workout |

OK! After all the drama around here I finally have my new Cybex workout done. The Hip Adduction/Hip Abduction may be in the wrong place, but I got a 50/50 chance of being right Decided to go with 5/5 sets, with a 25 count inbetween for rest. Upped all the weights, but I am sure I will need to make adjustments on the fly with the first workout tomorrow. I also divided the machines into Push Days, and Pull Days as Lord melkor advised. And this week the push Days will be M & F, and the Pull Day will be W. And I will reverse this for next week! Push Days (all 5/5 reps/sets) Machine &n bsp;   ; Wt. Chest Press &nbs p; 100 Shoulder Press 50 Arm Extension 70 Back Extension 250 Leg Press &nbs p; 450 Leg Extension 90 Glute Extension 120 Rotary Calf   ; 230 Hip Adduction 170 Pull Days (all 5/5 rep/sets) Row machine 130 Lat Pull Down 150 Bicep Curl   ; 70 Chest Fly 150 Ab Chair &nbs p; 150 Leg Curl   ; 110 Hip Adduction 150 Laterial Raise 70

UPDATE: The backwards rotation on the stepper works great. I'm doing two minutes forward, one minute backwards, for 6 minutes. Working my why back up to 10 minutes on that thing But the workouts, stretching, hot tub, sauna have helped the lower back pain. But I think that maybe the streching has helped more that about anything. And I have started water walking to replace the treadmill. I have tries the treadmill several times, and I always end up with my left hip hurting. So I am pretty pleased with the workout right now. the only real problem area is the military press, but it has been a problem all my life. Slow but sure I guess!!! |

Hmmmm! In my personal experience I have found water to be an important part of my fitness program. Water helps keep me from feeling hungry, helps wash away the waste from burned fat, and keeps my joints well lubed. Now I don't count how many ounces I drink, but it is probably between 4 and 6 liters a day. And since I have been very successful in my program, down some 300 pounds, I'll keep drinking my water!! |

Original Post by soccer_chica: And that is why here at CC we talk about a lifestyle changes, not just a quick way to lose a few pounds. To be successful in any weight loss or fitness program, a person has to be committed over the long run. No matter what type of "diet" you may be on, it all comes down to calories-in vs calories out. Personally I have found success here at CC through modifing the basic plan into my own high energy/high activity plan that has enabled me to loss some 300 pounds, and achive the best fitness of my adult life at 46 years old. And best of all CC is free!! |

| Weight Loss | FRUSTRATED... I just dont get it... NEED IDEAS... | Jul 30 2008 17:59 (UTC) |

Well first off I think a little relaxation is needed. The ideal weight loss program is for the long term, and weight naturally fluxuates (mine as much as 10 pounds a day). So a person just has to learn to put the small ups and downs. As to how many cals you are eating. To me, for as active as you are, 1300 sounds very low. The CC plan recommends a minimum of 1200 cals a day for a woman who does nothing at all. So for you 1300 just seems too low. I know it's a scary thing to do. But I was pulled yelling and screaming from only eating 700-800 cals a day, to where I now consume 3000+ daily. Remember, it's all about the long term, and you have had some excellent success so far. Keep Us Posted!!! Duke |
