Hi Kim and welcome! I agree with chrissy, on the pt thing. I have lost to date 52.7 pounds on my own just going to the gym and finding different workout buddies. I really got into kickboxing and it's been a blast!  I build a strong support system and try to be as regular at the gym as you can be. Change it up and see what you like, and have fun , cause then it doesn't seem lik work!

Weight Loss Calorie Intake vs. Calories Burned Aug 05 2009

this is not rocket science and We do NOT need your stats. Basic nutrition 101 states in order to losse weight you should burn 500-1000 MORE calories then you eat! that simple! Calories in -vs- calories out! However in Defense of the other posters if you are a women of say 5'5" 5'6" medium build (my approx) you would be around 1650. that being said if you were this approximation you never want to go below 1250 for calorie consumption. another thing to remember eating too little Will Slow your metabolism and if you are loosing too fast you are in danger of putting it back on amongst the other dangers. Eating to  little is as serious a condition as eating too much, however I don't believe that was the question at hand.

OMG just read this and was considering going vegetarian anyway! definitley have started more changes to go not only vegitarian but organic! I loved it and it has totally changed my way of thinking about what goes in my mouth! I recently have been in a nutrition class and am studying in the health field, NOT HOLISTIC< and have found that while some of the info is slightly off center most of it is dead on! and the way they present the info is Hilarious! All they are doing is putting there findings out there and want you to make up your own mind! Either way yes read it, research the info, then make up your own mind! I am still doing the coffee thing tho cause do not want tooo many huge changes at once!

Weight Loss is Diet Soda bad for you? Jun 10 2009

I recently Dumped all my diet drinks down the drain due to the artificial sweetners! I don't want to take that chance, and there is wrong information on BOTH sides Pro and Com Apartame So read up and use your own reasoning! However, since I have stopped the diet sodas(and I was big on them) I found my weight has gone down eleven pounds AND after a few weeks I felt better all around!

Fitness Does the heart need to rest in between cardio workouts? Apr 28 2009

seeing as the heart is a muscle I would imagine yes it is wise to give it a rest. I try to do cardio 6 days a week and alternate  weight training every second day so I end up doing both at least 3 days a week. don't know that that is a smart way to do it but it is working for me for now.

just wondering if maybe subconsciously you are thinking of this as a diet in where you can't have things like sweets. Maybe it is something as simple as a thought pattern.

k you cooking 4 carnivores! I think that is why I am still not fully dedicated to the change yet although I have implemented many changes in the hopes of one day being full vegan. My whole family are cani's but here is my most recent issue. My daughter went on a field trip to the dairy farm and came  home completely disgusted and outraged, and is now protesting much of what is from animals. THis is not a protest but a plea for help from a desperate mom. becuase I have already been researching and making changes  where and when possible, I was able to reckognize she was calling her self vegan and refusing to eat! I told her I was glad to have her making her own choices and this is a huge desicion but I want her to be educated correctly and their is alot of wrong info out there on both sides. Where is the best place to send or book to buy or show to watch for a 14 year old who is curious about the lifestyle to say the least. She does eat some vegan meals I make others she won't touch. I also have a baby and 6 yearold I am trying desperatly to avoid processing and many of the animal foods both ask for chocolate silk. but are their easy kid friendly vegan options?

Fitness Learn to Run - AGAIN - want to do this with me?? Apr 03 2009

todays runn seemed a lot harder for me, but I am doing something different then normal.  Most of the treadmils were full so I decided to run the track. Man did I ever feel the difference. I did not do the walk 3 run 1 forweek on but I probably walked 4 or 5 then ran 1 or 2 minutes depending on how well my breath held up and the busyiness of the track. I probably got a solid 7 or 8 minutes of straight run time which is better then nothing. Hope to be back on the track tomorrow but way earlier so I can maybe beat the traffic on the track. Hoping I will soon be adjusted to where I can run on the track soon for longer periods.

I had messed that up I think last time. Look Forward to working with all and will let you know how it goes. cool thing my gym also has an indoor track on the upper level so I don't have an excuse of the treadmils were ful either. lol

rying to watch portions but working in a restaraunt and some times grabbing things as I go doesn't all ways help. I havn't mastered the technique of eyeballing it yet. I do need to work on that. But then sometimes when I do a veggie I will only do one veggie and forget anything else and that will be all I eat all day, with maybe a yogurt or a kash bar or a bowl of cereal.

I like you I am a mom but to 6 Four teens a 5 year old and a 8 month old. I am a full time college student , and married to a wonderful man. Friends volunteering I know I have the gammet too! I  agree you have to make time for you otherwise it won't get done, unfortunatley this is something only we can do forourselves. I get up between 4-5 to workout and pencil gym time in like appointments that helps me to make sure I have time. Do I feel bad cause I am taking time my kids might need yeah sometimes, but in the long run I plan on being around to walk them down the aisle, see my grandkids and travel in my retirement with my hubby. Good luck too you!

I gotta say getting thin and then putting the weight back on again! thin does taste better! However we all get wher we need to be by going through what we must. that being said I think no french fries can be done if you do no french fries just for today rather then for a whole year. That is where I think it gets hard. Trade it for something equeally as pleasing to your tasebuds but healthy!

My resoluton is to take my like back.

Lose some weight and keep it off, so by the time my son is two I can keep up!

Thanks For the info. The biggest reason is health reason. Although I did watch a few videos of what happens before the meat gets to the store, and found it Just  plain Wrong.  I do have another question . I have been paying more attention in the vegatarian section at the market and was wondering what is Tempeh and how do you use it? and What is I think it was Vegtable protein?
