Weight Loss I hate when this happens... Apr 18 2007

well at least I'm not alone in this!  I weighed myself today, and the scale read 4 pounds more than last time, but I'm not too worried, because 1- i know weight flucuates and 2- i've been doing a lot of weight training lately so maybe I've gained some muscle mass?

I'm with you nightc1....i can demolish that bowl of chips they bring out at Mexican restaurants...luckily i'm a poor colleges student so i don't go eat out all that much haha

That's what basically what I figured.  I guess it really doesn't bother me that there are so many fast food places in America, because people chose to go there, and if they gain weight...it is their fault, not the fault of the fast food chain, but I'm positive that the fact that there are so many fast food places around here greatly impacts the health of Americans on average

I completely sympathize with you k8iemay, I'm in my second year of college, and the dorm cafeterias do not help people on a diet, the food is greasy, you never know exactly how it is prepared, and even the "healthy" options are questionable.  I found that stocking my refridgerator in my dorm room with fruit and my pantry with wheat bread and things for healty sandwhiches help out a lot.  That way I can eat lunch in my room instead of having to eat the crap in the caf.

The only good thing I find about being at my school is that gym membership is free for students, but I think most schools are like that.

I'm sure you'll be fine though, after being back for a little while I'm sure you will be able to get yourself back into a healty schedule

of course going to the gym every day is good, but who wants to do that?  Don't be so hard on yourself if you give yourself a day or two off from the gym, just keep your calories under control and you'll be fine =), I give myself every weekend off from the gym, and just go for walks or stay active around the house.  Remember...we're all making healthy life changes..not trying to punish ourselves.

but if you really feel you must get to the gym everyday, I try thinking about how awesome it will be to fit into my jeans I wore in high school again, and that helps get me off the couch.
Foods what do you do to stop a chocolate craving? Apr 13 2007

Yeah...I just have a piece of chocolate if i'm craving it...a little bit in moderation isn't bad for you...and like renekane said...dark chocolate actually has benifits like anitoxidants and what not (I know that sounds completely unscientific...but you understand what i'm saying)

I'm a full time student and work part time in an office...walking to all my classes helps to keep me active, and my college has two fitness centers that are free for students so that helps too.

Just a few months ago I quite the coffee house i was working at.  I worked at Gloria Jeans, which sells coffee..but we also have the 'dessert' coffe drinks...espresso with every fattening sugary flavoring you can add to it...plus milk.  I packed on the pounds working there, because I would sip on drinks the whole time I worked.
