I'm bad. I weigh myself, like, everytime I go in the bathroom. It's unhealthy, and kind of an obsession, but I just like seeing how my body fluctuates throughout the day. The only weigh-in I count is the one first thing in the morning, though.

Carie, I eat really late usually right now because my schedule in general is all over the place, but at a lot of times I've had really good luck stopping eating 2 hours before I go to bed.

Another thing that helps me a lot is giving up soda. I don't know if you're a soda drinker or not.....

All I ever drank was diet, but there's just something about it that makes you retain weight, and if you just replace all the soda you drink with water or crystal light, it's much better for your body anway.

I know it totally sucks to get no results. What'll probably happen is your body will stay at one spot for a while and then *boom* you'll drop a couple lbs all at once. Don't give up! You can do this!

At any rate guys, I'm 148.5 today, so I think I'm going to switch on down to the 140's group! (yay!)

I wish you guys the best of luck, and I'll certainly stop in to say hi!

Remember, DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!

Thanks!

congrats for your loss, morningstar! It's good that he's recovering!

prettybowen: finals suck. end of story. the hardest thing for me right now is that I'm trying so hard not to overeat that I am ending up not eating enough calories.... and all the snack foods I have are carbs, so that sucks too.

Carie: don't give up! it sucks.. but eventually you're bound to notice the results.... the cycle can't continue forever.. just watch what you're eating and keep burning those calories! You can do this!

We can all do this!

(now I just wish I was in the 140's....)

Oh man.. so.. another night of no sleep. I have my fourth (second to last!) final today (in an hour.. ) and I literally closed my eyes for 30 minutes all night. It's funny because it seems like when you don't sleep your body is incapable of losing weight. Even though I've been drinking lots of water and eating the right amount I feel crampy and bloated and just overall gross. and I went up a pound.

Yuck.

And of course, with no sleep and no free time the gym is totally out of the picture.

Oh well... now just one more hard day, then a week off for excercising and sleeping to my heart's content.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Luck Everyone (Carie!!)

I finally made it to the gym today. (Yay!)

Went an hour on the treadmill and lifted the upper body stuff for about 45 minutes.

Now maybe tomorrow I'll go an do legs and Abs. :)

I'm running/walking a 5k next saturday and my running right now sucks. I had to walk a ton of it today. Oh well... maybe by next week it will be better.

(oh yeah.. and for some reason we didn't get the CW at the gym.. so I watched celebrity fit club instead.... and now my roomie won't let me watch the gilmore girls tivo-ed in the living room while I eat my dinner because he wants to watch CSI on demand. Jerk.)

Dinner Time! Have a good night everyone!

soooo still haven't made it to the gym. Last week kicked my butt.. and now I'm sick from not sleeping at all.. so all I want to do is stay in bed and watch tv. I've managed to watch what I've been eatig since friday and drop back down to 151.... only 2 lbs to go... and I think I can do it.

I think I'm going to make myself go to the gym today.. I figured out that if I get there at 7 and lift for an hour, then I can watch gilmore girls while I'm on the treadmill. (I know.. it's ridiculous... but I love that show~!)

That way I can study until around 7, then take a break and get my workout in at the same time.

Everyone sounds like they're doing really well! Keep it up guys! Only 6 days to go!

:)

Oh man.. I've been terrible this week. I didn't work out all week because I only slept about 7 hours between monday and thrusday, But I was still eating well. Then, friday, I pigged out. It was awful. SO bad that I couldn't even put it in c-c because I didn't want to see it. Then yesterday I kind of fasted, just had a sugar free smoothie and a chicken breast because I needed to detox a little. and then today I was being giid, but I just got initiated into Phi Beta Kappa and they had these delicious looking brownies things.. I totally caved.

Ugh...

oh well.... cest la vie.

tomorrow is a new day... a day filled with a workout, perhaps?

Welcome Jenn! I'm in college too! :) I was exactly the same as you when I first started--- in the 170's... it feels great to get some weight off. This forum is a lot of fun.... some really nice people. I just joined it last week!

Carie- it stinks because I am SUPPOSED to have 5 extra GRAMS of sodium a day and I take sodium pills. Want to talk about water retention? It's awful.... and I don't even like salt.

Haven't been working out yet this week because I pulled an all nighter yesterday and will be pulling another one tonight, so that's no good, but I am being careful to keep my overnight snacking to a minimum if I can- even with all the snacks I munched on to keep me awake last night I was  still 400 cals under maintenance. :)

I think I'll make it into the 140's with you guys by end of April- I only have 2.5 lbs to go!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Oh! For anyone who likes pizza- I made this pizza dough I found online and made a pizza from scratch yesterday with part skim mozzarella and turkey pepperoni.... it was delicious. The whole thing equals out to just under 300 cals a slice, but has some good protein and whole grains in it.

It's a honey whole wheat crust- which makes it a little thick, but I love the heartiness---

I put the recipe in the log- "whole wheat pizza dough"

Just if anyone's interested.

You bake it at 450 for 15-20 minutes with the toppings on it. And an organic plain tomato sauce makes an excellent sauce without as much sugar as the normal pizza sauces have.

question about adding back in my workout calories: how do I figure out the actual defecit. I added myself in as sedentary so I can add back in the activity- but I read something somewhere about having to subtract the number of calories your body naturally burns without working out from the number of calories you burn while working out?

How do I know how many calories I burn during a normal hour and do I have to subtract it from what the workout log says I burn?

And I'm getting about 25% fats- My diet is definitely balanced- making sure to eat at least two servings of dairy- fat free yogurt, skim milk, or 2% milk cottage cheese, primarily- every day.

I just feel like if right now at 1200-1300 calories I'm satisfied, there may not be a reason to force myself to eat more. Right?

Jem-

I'm like that too. Even now I'm only a size 10.

Actually a year and a half ago I was 175- got down to 140- then I kind of fell off the bandwagon when I wasn't allowed to excercise for health reasons and I ballooned back up. I was staying under 150, then my scale broke and I went on sodium pills (I have low blood pressure and the doctors prescribed them to me) and eventually I started to notice that all of my clothes were wayyyy too tight.

Now I'm allowed to excercise again, and I'm trying to get back into the habit. I know at some point you really feel the motivation every day.

I carry a ton of musle though too... no one ever believes me when I tell them what I weigh- but I was a gymnast and a dancer for my entire life, and the muscle mass never really dissappeared.

What do you do for excercise?

How many calories are you taking in a day?

I am 21, 5'2.5"

Current Weight: 158-156

Goal Weight: 125-130

After reading this thread that may seem a little high, but it's around the middle of the healthy BMI range for our height and I think it's important to build muscle while you're losing fat- therefore weighing 100 pounds isn't an option.

Hopefully I can get there by my college graduation in August. It would be great to be able to look back at the pictures and see a skinny me and not a fat me.

I'm not sure how true this is, but I've read cellulite is just a bunch of fat cells with no muscle to rest on, and when it's all bunched up, it creates a dimpling effect. Therefore, building muscle mass instead of fat will give the dimpled fat more area to lie on, flattening it out and reducing the dimpling, and the cellulite.

I'm not quite to the point where I can try it out yet, but I know lots of really muscular (not body builder muscle, just lean muscle) girls who don't have noticeable cellulite.

I think the skinny girls who have cellulite are the girls who are blessed with high metabolisms, but don't have a lot of muscle.
