Weight Loss Adjusting your mental image to the new you Aug 18 2009

I feel the same way, I never feel like I've reached my "goal"  each time I set a goal weight, once I get there, I drop it lower because I dont look as small as I thought I would look.  Itts very frustrating, and very confusing.  Those dumb weight carts tick me off to, you know those "ideal weight" for your height? I'm a nurse, and we use them all the time, but they're bull, mine says that for 5'5 i should be 115-140, I weigh 135, so that puts me in the "at risk" for being overweight mark.  If I were 115 I would look sick.  I dont know, its a woman thing I think, we are never happy with ourselves, I mean, I feel better now then I did 5 years ago when I was 230lbs, but I'm not so sure I feel any less "fat" and I still have the same fears when I am out in public.... are people staring at me and making fun of my size? Are my sleeves too short showing my fat arms? Are my rolls visable through my shirt....................... hard to break after years of being obese.

Weight Loss Drink water to lose water weight? Aug 01 2009

You lose the water weight because your body trusts it will get what it needs after you start increasing your intake. However, you have to be careful not to over do it either, you can end up hyponatremic (Too little sodium in the body) if you are too dilute, you can also run into problems cardiac wise if you really push it.  8-10 a day is all you need

I think it also helps lose real weight because it fills you up and you eat less.

I agree with lala, however if this is your preferred way of eating, maybe eat a little less at work and save say 500 calories to "binge" on when you get home.  Then, make sure you have prepared healthy meals in your fridge, portion them out in 500 calorie servings, and grab one and enjoy, since it's what you're "supposed' to be eating

I am 5'5 156lbs and walk all day at work, lifting patients and going all over the floor, I eat every 2 hours, I lost 100lbs this way (I gained 20 back over last year that I am trying to lose).  I average about 1200 cals before I get home, then instead of eating something healthy, I binge!

First, congrats on your success! You are truly stunning and it is obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into your weight loss!

I got down to 192 and then I slowly crept back to around 204. Mind you, I want to be around 150. So, I understand what a pain it is and how you might feel like you are starting over.

But, you can do it! You lost nearly 100lbs, now you need to lose a fraction of that to be where you want....no worries!

Just take it a day at a time, like you did in the beginning!

 THank you so much!

Actually, it's undecided.  Depends on what study you look at and what day of the week it is, I'm a cardiac nurse, I have seen many women (and men) come in tachy after using diet aids, Whenever I hear or see of something new, I like to sniff it out.

Weight Loss Quitting Smoking Dec 06 2007

Do not 'induldge in food'  quitting smoking is not an excuse for unhealthy eating.  Dont change anything, keep counting your calories, keep going to the gym.  I quit 12 weeks ago and lost 10lbs doing it.  Dont trade one unhealthy habit for another.

Its ok to snack instead of smoke, but make it healthy.

Nope. You're wrong.  It's the dieting and exercise.  All the wraps do it pull water and other much needed body enzymes out, then you make more.

Very expensive way to sweat.

I'm a size 5, and I don't feel any less "fat" than I was 100lbs ago either.  To each his own, we don't have the right to invalidate the feelings of others.

It always amazes me how mean and unsympathetic women are to eachother.  Women are special, we share a lot of unique problems, thoughts and feelings, we should be able to depend on one another.

A size 5 in Canada is the same as a size 5 in the States.  I moved from Alberta to NY 3 years ago... everything is pretty much the same over here.

Have you worked out throughout your weight loss journey?  I know that for me, I've gained a lot of muscle, which you have to feed! and now that I am down to the last 10lbs, I've actually upped my calories to 1400-1500, it's slow, but it feels good.  I have more energy, feel healthier.

Weight Loss dizzy? Oct 23 2007

That's called orthostatic hypotension, when you go from sitting to standing, your blood pressure drops dramatically and you feel dizzy until it comes back up.

You could have low blood sugar from not eating enough, or not eating the right balance.

Are you on any medications?  Is this your only symptom?

Until you figure this out, rise slowly! When you wake up in the morning, sit up in bed for a minute or two, sit on the side of your bed for another minute or two and then get up to lessen your risk of falls.
