sorry guys. i wasn't trying to come in here and stir up the pot. i was simply trying to call a truce, or whatever you call it when dealing with an internet forum. I post here a lot, and enjoy doing so, and would rather not have to leave threads b/c certain people are in them.

and i'm not sure how this is stalkerish, it isn't meant to be.

Hmmm... did fatanr get warned or something?  He's been sucking up to me on my zombie brain thanksgiving thread....

no, fatanr, aka me, did not get warned or anything. (ps- i'm a "she")...

I just think it's really stupid to "fight" over the internet... so I've been trying to make "ammends" with you... I asked for a truce in my "weird craving" thread, but didn't get a reply. Anyway, just wanted to step up and ask for a truce. Between me and anyone I've ever pissed off (michachu and watergirl especially)... I'm not typically an argumentative person and would just rather have peace around here on my end..

sorry if you think i have been "sucking up" to you... that wasn't my intention - moreso just to let you know i think "fighting" over the internet is petty and not necessary. (talking about me here, not you)

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,

Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,

What do you freeze the veggies in - ziplock bags?

Yeah, I buy the thicker ones designed for freezers, and I don't buy cheap dollar store ones b/c they don't work that well.  I try to have different sizes of bags b/c I like stuff to fit perfectly (and it helps prevent freezer burn).  :)

 michachu,

when you want to use the frozen veggies, how do you thaw them out? just let them sit out? also, please refer to posting #11

i agree, amethyst. there is nothing more delicious than home-grown veggies (home-grown meaning just that, or from farmer's market). It is actually kind of disturbing (to my anyway) if you think about where the fruits and veggies come from that are in the grocery stores... i read on a website where the average fruit travels an average of 5-6 days, or approximately 3000 miles, before it even hits the grocer's produce section. So, imagine how "old" the stuff is before we even get it! I am a local supported of local farmer's markets for fruits and veggies. You can honestly taste the freshness from something home grown versus from across the country!

And to your OP. Maybe your body wants the nutrients from the salad for some reason.

very true as well. i think i've been craving it so much because it's a salad bar with all the goodies... and all the veggies to put in the salad are already washed and cut up, etc... green pepper, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers... nomnomnom

I crave salad when I'm on vacation and have been eating heavy restaurant meals for too many days.  By the end, I just want something green!

Yes, that makes a lot of sense! But I really haven't been eating that heavy lately... or maybe I have? I need to go back over my food journals and see what I've been consuming because for ME to crave SALAD is bizarre! ;)

when i boil eggs to make egg salad, i use 3-4 eggs. 2-3 egg whites only and 1 whole egg. instead of wasting the egg yolks, i give them to my dogs (cooked of course) (i have 3 dogs). egg yolks are good for their coats :)

Frappucinos are NOT low cal...

perhaps not "low" cal, but I don't think 110 cals is an awful lot for a light mocha frappucino from starbucks... that's for a small size. A medium is 140 and a large is 210. But, they are delicious and I still don't think 110 is bad for a delicious frappucino (no whip of course).

110 cal frappucino vs. 300 cal Mocha.... I didn't say they were low cal--I said lowER cal. I am just looking for a splurge that doesn't ruin the whole day. You know, like Skinny Cow or Edy's ice cream vs. the full-fat, real deal. Like fatanr says, they are delicious so it's great to be aware of a drink that is such a treat for not as many cals. 110 beats the heck out of 380.

Also, not all fraps are made with just ice like Starbucks so I am aware that some places have frap drinks that are MUCH higher in cals/sugar (Like DQ and Sonic--they are made from half ice cream, half sugar/ice--Yikes!)

you're exactly right annkatcom!!! those "fraps" at Sonic and DQ are horrible. Don't even go there for those things!!! But yeah, that's why I posted in response to alibsam's post that fraps arent low cal, because to me, 110 isn't bad for a delicious mocha frappucino!!!

i agree w/you syv212. that used to drive me INSANE at my old job when we had a huge BR with 8-10 stalls, and you'd be in one, and a woman would come in and use the one RIGHT NEXT to me. I'm like, wtf!! there are 8 other open stalls! luckily at my new job, it's a small office, and there is only 1 women's bathroom. SO i can have it all to myself!

And I agree 100% with the washing hands thing. Even though we don't piss on our hands, you still need to wash them and wash them properly from being in a bathroom period! And yes, SOAP is a MUST!

During the winter when it's necessary to have our heat on, we keep it on 60 during the day and 61/62 when we get home, then turn it down to 60 at night. But, we, too, have lots of blankets, slippers, sweats, etc. It's rare that we are actually cold in our house. If we are having company over, we up the heat by 5-6 degrees since everyone is not comfy in 60 :)

But, i'd rather wear socks, sweatpants, and a sweatshirt and save on our heating bill, then be warm wearing a t shirt during the winter... know what i mean? :P

I'd rather live where I didn't have to worry about a high heating bill. Until then, I'd rather be able to afford wearing a Tshirt around the house than have to wear lots of clothes.

not sure why you targeted my post specifically, considering other people posted about leaving their heat on lower than ours. It isn't that we "can't" afford it, we choose not to heat up our ENTIRE house when we spend most of our time in only 2-3 rooms. That doesn't make sense. We turn off the vents in the rooms that are unused, but the heat will still run and run until the living room (where our thermostat is located) until it's at xx degrees. And I never siad I had to wear "lots" of clothes. Don't know where you're from, but wearing shirts and pants isn't "lots of clothes" as you put it.

oh pleeez. its because you painted a big target on your back when you started being a crybaby because people hijack threads. get real.

hmm not sure I was being a crybaby there, but okay... Whatever you old ladies say! Apparently my post had no being in here because I was contributing to the OP... makes sense... not.
