Loosing weight should never be about anyone but yourself. This is about your health, your self-esteem, and your well being. I think (and I am a never married 21 year old so feel free to disregard) that if you are going to do this, you will need your husbands support. Weight loss is incredibly difficult because what we eat and how we eat is not just about food, its about emotions, habits, social interactions etc, and food is a huge part of our lives.

I'm sure that your husband is a wonderful man, and I am glad that he loves you the way that you are; but you should sit down with him and explain to him what your diet means to you and why you need to do it for yourself. Ask him to support and encourage you, otherwise, this will a long, hard road for you. Like I said, I'm not married, but I have a roommate. I thank god that when I come home in binge mood, whether I'm PMSing or I'm stressed or just for no good reason want to eat a pint of ben and jerry's half-baked icecream (my favorite!), that my roommate is there to tell to think twice. It would be of no help whatsoever if she simply told me that I looked great and I could eat TWO pints if I wanted.

In our weakest moments, we need that support. Especially at home.

unicat, is 1200 too little? that's what the cc expenditure told me that i should eat to loose weight. my estimated daily cal expenditure is 1700 because i dont work out except for maybe a short walk some days.

do you think i'd have better luck loosing if i ate more?

wow, there are alot more people in my situation than i thought! i'm so glad I found this group! i'm new to cc and i weigh about 140. I'm working my butt off to get down to a stable 125-130. I'm starting to get frustrated though. I restrict my calories to 1200, never going so much as 10 calories over. I measure all of my food, I stay away from my favoirite sweets, I gave my box of girl scout cookies away! and it comes off so...s.l.o.w.l.y... I just want to be at my goal weight and not have to be so damn strict with myself anymore

does anyone else feel like their progress just isnt, well, progressive enough?

So what about people like me? I am very small in my upper body. I have a very narrow rib cage and tiny wrists. But I am large framed in my lower body. I have very large hips, and I also cary my weight on my lower body. Should I consider myself to have a medium frame and just be done with it?
Vegetarian Feeling Sick From Meat Apr 16 2007

I ate a strictly vegan diet for almost two years until I went to Greece to visit family and it really wasnt possible anymore. I got incredibly sick from eating meat and dairy. It took my body over a month to readjust. I'm not sure if it works the same way with meat, but my doctor explained the dairy thing to me.

Dairy is not a natural part of an adult diet. We are supposed to stop eating it when we are weaned. Therefore, as we get older, our body produces less and less of the enzyme that breaks down lactose (which is why so many elderly people are lactose intolerant). If you stop eating dairy, your body can stop producing the enzyme entirely because it is no longer needed.

Maybe its the same way with meat, when you stop eating it you stop producing the digestive enzymes that break it down

I was reading an article about it in the Economist the other day. They were saying that it may be taken off of the market because Coca Cola (the distributer) is refusing to release the study that showed it caused you to burn calories.

I really don't buy into the idea that it causes you to burn extra calories, especially after reading the article.

Maybe something like Propel, which is only 25 cals for a 16oz bottle, and has vitamins and electrolytes, would be a better choice?
