I am struggling a little bit... I had an totally emotional, stressed-out pig out all week last week. I was upset about my foot, had a lot of changes going on at work, and was fighting with my boyfriend. I let it all get to me and had a great-big ole pitty party for myself. I ate everything I could get my hands on. BUT today is a new day! I made it back into the gym yesterday. I could def. feel it in my foot, but it wasn't painful. Just sore. I weighed in up 3 pounds this morning, which I fully expected. Most of it is water, and I'm hoping that it will be gone by early next week and I can start losing in earnest. Keep up the good work ladies! |

Hello ladies-- I didn't way in today b/c I am retaining water and the wrap/cast thingie on my foot weighs a ton. So I'm going to hold off weighing in to avoid the negative emotions assocaited with not seeing a loss. But wanted to let you guys know that I didn't forget! My goal for today is to get my upper body weights done. Since I can't walk or job or do legs, I'm just going to focus on my core and upper body until I am free to hit the elliptical again! Kambimarie-- great job on the 2 pounds! Good luck to everyone else as well! |

Hi Ladies-- Way to go on the losses so far! I was not very well behaved this weekend. Lots of splurging and entertaining some friends from out of town. I'm getting back on track today, though. :) Just gotta' stay positive and remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint! Speaking of running.. I fell walking home from a Comedy Show Friday night and severely sprained my left foot. I didn't even know that you could do that! So there is no exercise this week and then I have to wrap it to do anything after this week. We'll see how it goes. I am just going to eat very cleanly so that I will seem some sort of loss. :) |

Topanga-- You are doing great! Getting started is one of the hardest parts.. and you've already lost 12 pounds. I try my best to eat well and don't really worry about ratios. And for what it's worth, I try to get an A analysis on my diet log. I'm not sure what it means, but it makes me feel good to get an A. Along with exercise, it's helped me lose 30 pounds so far! |

I am so excited today. I met both of my goals yesterday-- calories and getting to the gym. AND when I weighed this morning, I weighed 1.2 pounds less (230.8) than the weight I posted (232) (the weight I posted yesterday was from last Friday). YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! I can't wait to see 229! When I measure myself, I really don't worry about if I'm doing it "right" or not. I just try to make sure that I measure in the same spot everytime. I just get too frustrated trying to tell if I'm holding the tape right or in the right spot. So I just know the "place" that I measure, and do it that way. :) |

| Weight Loss | 20 something's or 50-75lbs group?? | Jul 22 2008 03:58 (UTC) |

I'll totally be in your group! I'm 25.. started at 260, now I'm sitting at around 230 (give or take a pound of water weight). I started in January and lost consistently through April. Since April, I've been maintaining. I need to jump start again and get the rest of this weight off. Like Sbatt said, my goal is also 160. And then I'll evaluate how I look/feel and decide what to do.

| Weight Loss | Any women with their gall bladders removed? | Jul 15 2008 15:00 (UTC) |

I had my gallbaldder removed last August. I have to say, it wasn't fun, but it sure beat the alternative of the painful attacks. This is before I started my weight loss journey, so I can't say how it will effect you since you're in the middle of yours. But I have been successful at losing weight since January and that was only a few months after. One thing I do remember is being told not to do any sit-ups/crunches or weight lifting for a few months (possilbe hernia complications) and to start exercising slowly. I actually think that it helps me eat better as well. My body reacts... umm.. violentely to friend/greasty/unhealthy food now. I feel so gross that I could never eat that food again. Best of luck with the procedure. You'll be doing fine in just a few days after. |

My boyfriend and I are doing this right now. Just the 2 of us... We pick a date or event, pick a prize, and then weigh in once a week. The final weigh in for this "round" is this Friday (7/18) for our friends' wedding. Right now, I am winning by 5 pounds. So, unless he loses something ridiculus or I retain a bunch of water, I shoud win $50, Dinner cooked for 1 week, and Dishes washed for 1 week (this is a BIG deal in our house b/c we live in a tiny apartment in Atlanta and don't have a dishwasher). Sometimes, we do it for long periods of time (like this one, which is why it's $50) and sometimes we do it for like a month. We usually start when one of us is having motivation issues or we have a big event that we're trying to hit a goal for. For those of you who are technical, I do have the advantage here b/c I have more weight to lose, but he loses weight faster as a guy (or so we've heard). He won the very first one, but if I win this one, it will be my 2nd win in a row! GO ME! If we do it again, I think it will be for Labor Day. Haven't discussed this one yet, though. |

| Weight Loss | Was shocked i actually fit in a "regular" size (not the plus side clothes!!) :) | Jul 14 2008 22:01 (UTC) |

First of all-- YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! for being able to shop on "the other side". I can occasionally find stores and shop in the misses section (Old Navy comes to mind and Target). To the other reason that I was writing: I used to work for Cato.. I worked there for 3 years when I was in college. Their "Other Side" is a Misses department (not Juniors) and the XL equates to a 16/18. Their small is a 4/6, Medium is 8/10, Large 12/14 and XL is 16/18. I could sometimes SQUEEZE into their pants on the Misses side back in college (b/c I have no hips)... I need to go see if I am back on that side again. I haven't been in a Cato in forever... not my favorite place after those 3 years, lol! |

Thanks guys (and gals)! I am cutting out the 100 calorie packs and I'm going to try to re-configure my calorie intake to be heavier in the morning. I already eat a lot of fiber (at least 25grams/day-- usually closer to 35), fruits, and veggies. So we'll see who this goes. I'll keep you posted! |

| Today I met a client for lunch at Boneheads (seafood) and had an excellent lunch with Grilled Tilapia, grilled veggies, and a side salad. :) :) And even resisted dessert, while my client indulged. It felt nice to be in control.
And I have my gym bag in the car so that I can leave straight from work and hit the gym. down and .4 pounds today... yeah! |

Alyssandra-- You are onto something! I think that the "falling forward" is strategically placed by our government to come just shortly before the Holiday Season... which means big business for other retailers. So during that time, we all switch from buying healthy stuff to buying naughty foods-- cakes, chocolates, candy canes, you name it... that is their way of evening out the market! And of course, then we have to go buy bigger clothes b/c of all the weight we put on... AND THE CYCLE LIVES ON! How could I have missed this part of the equation???!! |

The jewelry is a great one! I hate having to buy "plus-sized" jewelry. And why is a necklace at Lane Bryant $30 and a necklace at their sister brands is $18... is there really $18 worth of material in that two inches?!! It's ridiculous! I also will not miss feeling like I can't wear dainty jewelry... I feel like it makes me look even bigger b/c it's so small and simple. |
