| I have a Weight Watchers scale also, but it doesn't measure body fat... just the basics. I think it's a great scale. | |||

| Hi beccac,
While it's been a few years since my "babies" were babies (my youngest is 13), I know how you feel. I had horrible stretch marks! It seemed like it got worse with each kid. It's only been 10 weeks since you delivered (congratulations, by the way!!!) so don't get discouraged. They don't ever really "go away" completely, but they definitely do fade with time. A lot of people suggested that a cocoa butter lotion or a vitamin E cream works to help them fade a little faster... but it didn't work all that well for my skin. I also think the sagging belly is just going to take some time too. Your muscles just need to be toned up again. Babies are rough on a body - but so worth it. ;c) |

| From what you wrote I think you're not eating enough calories. If you're eating up to 1300/day, but burning 400 of those that puts you under 1200 a day. When I eat too little, my body won't let go of anything. I don't know much about hypothyroidism or the medication side effects though so I don't know if that would effect weight loss or not. | |||

| Good luck, a-emom! I started out needing to lose 40 lbs. also - and have lost 26 of those so far. If I can do it... just about anyone can. lol I decided this year was the year I was going to work on getting healthy. I got tired of my clothes not fitting, panting while going upstairs, feet & knees aching in the morning from the extra girth I was carrying around, etc.! This site has helped me to keep on track.
Shekitty: I'm 5'9" and also weighed around 130-135 in high school... I married at 135 lbs., but I know after 22 years and 3 kids later I'll never be that size again. I don't think I'd want to either! My original goal was to be at the lower end of my BMI (140), but as I've lost the weight and seen the diffrence exercise & diet has made so far, I think I'll be happy with somewhere in the 145-150 range. I'm not looking to be someone else's ideal size, I just want to be healthy first and then comfortable in my own skin. With my kids getting older and "leaving the nest", I want to eventually be that healthy grandma that can chase after her grandbabies when they visit. ;c) (but just for the record... I'm too young to be a grandma yet!!! LOL) |

| I'm in the 40-somethings group! I'm 42...and a half... lol (and I know how you feel jenmcc!) My immediate family (hubby, kids) are really supportive, but my sisters think I'm going through a mid-life crisis because I'm trying to lose weight "at my age". wow. I didn't even know I was old enough to be having a mid-life crisis yet. ;c) | |||
| Weight Loss | Sodium Intake | Apr 28 2007 00:52 (UTC) |

| I was JUST looking this up, because I had the same question! I found this site: www.iom.edu/?id=18495&redirect=0 Basically, it states "Healthy 19- to 50-year old adults should consume no more than 1.5 grams (or 1500 milligrams) of sodium each day" to replace the amount lost daily on average through sweat, etc. People with chronic diseases (high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, etc.) should consume less than that.
It'd be my guess you'd probably be retaining water if your sodium intake is high every day. Make sure you're drinking lots of water. |

| I usually cut my husband's and boy's hair to save money. I tried cutting my own... but it ended up looking like one of those "leaf blower and a spatula" style haircuts. lol YUK! I wish we had a place around my home that cost less than $10 - and still looked like a $50 haircut! | |||

| This is probably a silly question then... but do you have to tip your hair stylist? I know perms take longer than just a haircut, but when you consider it's costing $30 or more for a haircut anymore, aren't they already taking enough of my $$? {bracing myself for verbal abuse here - hehe}...yes, I'm cheap! lol | |||
| Weight Loss | How Much Water to lose weight??? | Apr 24 2007 21:14 (UTC) |

| I've used the "Crystal Light To Go" pouches in my 32 oz. water bottle - it really helped me to drink more. Eventually, I was able to dilute it even more and only use a half a pouch... now I'm filling up my water bottle 3-4 times a day and just drinking straight water without needing the flavoring. I was barely drinking 16 oz. of water a day before. | |||

| anxious1, I think it's: total pounds lost ÷ your starting weight = percentage lost (move decimal over 2 spaces to turn it into percentage) |
