yeah, i'm not exactly sure how i managed to pull off not eating the entire basket of bread, lol. i think it's because we went to eat right after going for a run - which was the best run i've had so far, might i add :) - and i kept thinking to myself, "you just had an awesome run - don't ruin it!" haha! as for thanksgiving, it shouldn't be tooo bad this year. in the past, my fiance and i have had to travel to four different homes on thanksgiving day. and yep, you guessed it, eat four "thanksgiving dinners" in one day! |

so i know we did some introductions earlier in this challenge, which was totally awesome to read a little bit about all of you. now i'm wondering, what kind of exercise routines do y'all do to lose weight? do you work out every day, every other day, whenever you can? do you do weights, cardio, both, play sports? i know different things work for different people - i'm just curious (or nosey perhaps ;P), what works for you? |

sooo, i didn't do as well as i had hoped to do this weekend... but, i didn't do tooo terribly bad considering we ate out on friday, saturday, and sunday! anywayyy, how are y'all planning on controlling your consumption (or keeping up your deficits) over the thanksgiving holiday? i'm a tad bit nervous because the fiance and i are going back home for the weekend, which usually means lots of yummy home cooked meals - oy vey! lol. |

Original Post by crazydiamondchrysalis: lol, ditto to the both of you. peeing = no problem. pooing = i hope you brought some entertainment honey, cuz i will out-wait you til your legs go numb! unless, of course, much like crazydiamond, the urge leaves me - which is soooo frustrating! seriously though, sometimes i wish i could be like some of the other women who just walk in, plant it, and let.it.alllll.out. that takes some major ballz if you ask me. |

foxxymel - whatever is easiest for you is fine with me. just keep in mind that in order for your points earned (from tuesday to thurday) to count, they need to be reported before week 2 weigh ins end as i try to have each week's results posted by that friday. so, if you want your points to count, please log them before you leave. if you are ok with your points/weigh-ins not counting, then go ahead and wait until you return (which in that case i'm not sure if you'd want to post since it won't really count for anything other than accountability with you team). did any of that make sense, lol? will you have access to the internet while you're gone? |

Original Post by superzgod: the cardio portion of your circuit training can for sure count - the weight portions (while they do get your heart rate up a little) won't. try not to worry too much about it though, because we'll be having a weights challenge coming up pretty soon, where the majority of your circuit training will count. the goal of these mini challenges is to get you moving if you aren't already, and to push you to do a little more if you are. if you only do circuit training (with not a lot of cardio, like me on some days) but want to up the points this week, try taking short walks. i work sitting at a computer all day long (bleh!), but i can't sit still for too long. so i get up and take a quick, brisk walk around the building once every hour or so, for like five minutes. doing that several times, over the course of nine hours (1) helps me not fall asleep at my desk, lol, and (2) helps me get in a little bit of extra cardio in my day - those five minutes start adding up pretty quickly! hope that helps... |

Original Post by thesilverstar121: girl, running the challenges isn't the hard part. with this awesome tool i'd like to call ms excel (ha!), i could do this all day long with my eyes closed. it's actually losing the weight that's the hardest thing to do - ever, lol! ;P oh yeah, and the real credit goes to those previous blc organizers before me. i've only been doing it for the last like two or three challenges. whoever started it was pure genious - i just picked up where they left off. :) |

you're welcome! i'm just glad other people are as excited and motivated by it as i am, haha! as for me, i am 23 years old. i graduated from college almost a year ago and shortly after moved to a new city with my fiance! we are oh-so-blessed to have great jobs (especially in this economy) and are trying to have as much fun as possible planning our wedding! :D as for my weight (because i realize this is a weight loss forum, not a tell-me-your-whole-boring-life-forum, lol), i've struggled with being healthy pretty much my whole life. i've always been slightly larger than most girls my age. and it most certainly didn't help when after playing sports in high school (and thus gaining muscle), i became completely sedentary during college and all that beautiful muscle turned into fat. :( now, i'm working on educating myself about food - oh the power we have just by knowing and understanding what it is we're putting inside our mouths (and bodies). now, i'm working on becoming healthy - not just for myself, but for my fiance and the family we hope to have someday. i could ramble on and on about lots of random things, but i'll save that for another post. :) i wish all of you the best of luck - go green! :D |

i'm getting married next december (2010)! i know i have a little over a year, but the way i lose, it could quite possibly take that long to lose the 15ish pounds i'm shooting for. i went to try on dresses this past weekend, and they didn't look as bad as i thought they would, lol. i could stand to drop just a few more pounds even and just tone up. my first goal though, is to lose these last 4.something pounds to get down to my first goal of 150 for our engagement picture session... over christmas! ack! that gives me about six weeks to lose 4.2 pounds - help meee!!! lol. |

so, super interesting (or maybe not, lol): my deficit for last week was ~1585 (maybe a little more, maybe a little less - i don't know for sure since i didn't really keep track of cals for two days last week). according to the 3500 cals = 1 pound rule, with a 1585 deficit i should have lost about 0.4 pounds. last week i weighed in at 154.6 and this week i weighed in at 154.2 - that's a loss of exactly 0.4 pounds! crazy!! or is it? maybe i'm crazy, who knows, lol. anywayy, just thought i'd share that with ya'll. :) how are your weigh ins coming along with respect to your deficits? |

liminalspaces - if your tea isn't bogged down with loads of sugar, syrups, honey, caffeine, calories, etc. (in other words, if it's primarily water) then yes, it can count towards your water intake. the point of this challenge is to encourage (i.e. force ;P) you to drink as much hydrating liquid as possible. thus, water mixed with crystal light packets (or similar) counts as well. but really try to get in as much H2O as possible. craigversion2 - team captains start a team thread separate from this main thread. they typically keep the motivation and encouragement going for their team. in the past, some team captains have even contacted individual teammates (through PM's) who didn't post at weigh in time - they give them a nice little "hey what's going on, is everything ok? we'd love to help you out!" nudge to get them back in the game. check out previous blc team threads to see past team captains in action. :P makphl - yay! thanks so much! i'll definitely put you down as a captain. :) all - any other takers on being team captains? i need at least one more, maybe two. let me know! |

Original Post by angie952: what a silly question!? ;P of course there's gonna be a BLC14!! :) week 0 weigh ins for BLC14 will most likely be the week immediately following the final weigh ins of this challenge - so in two weeks. that way those of us that are participating in this one can just roll right into the next one - unless y'all want a week off... what do you think? start right up or wait a week? i'll start a new post for it soon (perhaps before today is over) to start getting people to sign up - i meant to do this earlier in the week but kinda pushed it to the side (oops!). also, what do y'all think about the weekly challenges? keep 'em or get rid of them? if they were to stay, they'd obviously be different from the ones from this challenge (unless you want to keep some or all of them the same) so that we can continue to mix it up a bit. soo, in conclusion:
i look forward to hearing some of y'alls responses. take care and happy losing!! :P |

Original Post by niccole-abel: oh no, not at all! i'm glad it helped (even if it was a bit of pain in the butt, lol). :) and i really am in awe of those of you who were able to earn several points - i'm sure it took lots of work and patience. great job! |

i know this last challenge (balance) was a difficult one - believe me, i really do know it was (i only got three points, but was sooo close most days). it wasn't to make y'all feel bad or discourage you, it was merely just to point out that while the amount of calories we consume does matter, it's also very important to pay attention to where those calories come from. i think everybody who attempted this challenge did an amazing job, and not being afraid to give it a go really shows strength and courage and a dedication to get yourself healthy. and, whether this had anything to do with the challenge or not, i don't know, but several of us have posted some pretty nice losses this week - which is wayy awesome! i'm a little sad that this challenge is coming to an end, but super excited at the same time to see the ending results! push hard - we're in the home stretch and everybody is doing fantastic! :) |
