I can see what you are saying..if you are at or above 1200  consistantly and don't feel hungry, then I wouldn't worry about eating back as much.

It's just common sense to me. My body needs enough calories to survive on..I don't want it to start eating away my muscles because I don't have enough fuel to sustain the workout.
Weight Loss I keep loosing inches, but no pounds!! Anybody else?? May 30 2007

I do this too..it's because I'm working out and doing more toning. I AM losing fat..but I'm picking up muscle, which weighs more but takes up less space (and is much more attractive) than fat...I'm fine with it as long as I SEE results on ME...the numbers are not all that important.

Weight Loss I skip breakfast...so what? May 30 2007

I could easily skip breakfast..I'm not a morning person. But I don't want to burn away my muscle and call it weight loss. I want to kick start my metabolism and eat every  3 -31/2 hours to keep it going...I've learned how it works and I've learned how to keep my body filled and satisfied while in my calorie limit. It's just one of those situations where you have to decide whether health is more important...or just flat out weight loss, whereever it comes from. I choose health.

I think Pilates is a GREAT idea...I adore it. I would concentrate on toning and aerobics at this point. You look great :)

a slowdown in my metabolism, meaning I can't eat anything and never gain anymore. My husband likes to bring home pints of sinful ice cream for me a few times a week. Since January, I put on 10 pounds. I started counting calories mid April, upped my workouts a bit and I"ve lost 6 of it..but look better than I did before  because my fitness has improved. I want to lose a total of about 20-25lbs overall.

I would avoid movie theatre popcorn at all costs...it's horrible horrible horrible! Just take a big bag and put something healthy in it or just buy some chocolate to snack on if you want to indulge a little.

If you don't want to invest anything just yet, visit the library..you could probably find some videos and books to help.

Also, if you have cable..look for early morning workout shows. Denise Austin's Daily Workout on Lifetime is on at 6 am central and she often incorporates Pilates moves into her workouts.  Digital channels offer 'free spots' with Pilates workout that you can watch for free anytime you want. These are pretty easy to move over to DVD as well if your system is set up right.

It's not a good idea...your metabolism doesn't 'kick in' for the day until you eat..so if you're going on NO calories all morning...your metabolims is going to be very sluggish...Eat breakfast, and you'll start burning right away. Eat every 3-3.5 hours and you're metabolism will keep going all day...you'll burn faster.

The calculators tell me to aim for 119...which is pretty accurate for me. When I was between 115-118 I felt and looked my best..when I fell down to 108, I was skinny..but didn't look healthy...I don't want to do that. I don't like 'skinny' as a goal. blech..I'll go for fit and healthy.

being 5 foot 1..1200-1400 (w/o additonal exercise) is  a decent deficit under my suggested metabolic rate. When I work out ..I eat more.

I've had days like that too..I just make a big salad for dinner, toss a bit of grilled chicken in it..take it very easy on the dressing and don't think about it :) You'll still have room for an evening treat...make it a healthy one.

nope..you'd burn off muscle ...because your body NEEDS minimum 1200 just to live. If you take away some of that main 'stash' through exercise..you need to refuel!
Weight Loss rude question.. May 22 2007

Not all women do gain weight that they can't get off. We are all made different....I never had a problem with weight until this year..I have four children. I took care of my body very well during pregnancy. I never stopped working out, I ate healthy and never used pregnancy as an excuse to fill my body with junk. I never kept any of my pregnancy weight more than a few weeks after giving birth. My metabolism changed on me late last year and I put on ten pounds in the past six months..I'm trying to correct that now. My youngest is four...I wish it were as easy as when I was having my kids!

You don't need to be on a diet. Talk to your parents and your doctor instsead of putting your health at risk. You are a growing child.
Foods Cheat days, Who does this and how does it work May 21 2007

I don't really have 'cheat' days, but on Saturday's I don't add up everything I eat. My husband is home all day (the only day) and he likes to feed me. I'll usually have a rich dessert I normally wouldn't have and might eat out or get some take out that day that I don't monitor calories on although I make healtheir choices and watch portion sizes. I just look at that day as keeping my metabolism on its toes. I do extrra running around that day..so I'm burning extra anyway.

Yea, it was giving me all kinds of erratic readings. It would vary from ten pounds heavier to 20 pounds lighter....it also matters when ten pounds is the difference between healthy weight and slightly overweight...at least to me it does. It's not all about the number..but if I'm goinig to  buy something, I want it to work right.

I had a health o meter digital scale..under $20. It worked very good. very basic...until something fell on the digital readout breaking it.

I replaced it with a $30 Taylor fat/water analyzer that tells me I'm ten pounds less than I am (oh how I wish that were true)....it's going back to the store this weekend to be exchanged for something else...not sure what yet! Probably just another health o meter.

I have four kids and a full time job..my husband works nights so it's pretty much just me taking care of them in the evenings.

I find working out at home after the kids are in bed, or while they are playing works best for me...I work out while watching my favorite tv shows (I won't let myself sit on my butt and watch tv..if I'm gonna watch tv, I'm going to be moving!) It's important to take that time for yourself...start with 20 minutes a night and work up from there. You're worth the time..so find it for yourself!! Good luck..we are here for you..we KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!
