Weight Loss Atkins Nov 21 2009

The only good thing about Atkins is it does force you to eat more vegetables. However, eliminating whole grains from your diet isn't a positive thing. You can lose just as much weight on eating lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains as you can on Atkins. And you wont be as deprived or be putting your kidneys/liver in danger from the fat overload.

Getting rid of sugar and white bread/pasta is good, though. Replace everything with whole grain and keep your calories at a sensible target.

You people do realize that animals know how to take care of themselves, right? Why do humans insist on forcing animals into shelters where it's 21423498234 times worse than the wild? Just leave her alone.

because then there will be 21423498234 more of them... at least she could have them spayed and released.

or maybe you like that many cats pissing under your porch?

You think she's going to pay for all those cats to be spayed? You think a shelter will do it for free?

Most animal shelters will kill the animal, no matter what you ask them to do.

I just checked. My shelter spays/neuters cats for $15. That's a very affordable price!

When I called up the shelter, I asked if they had the room and extra care that a pregnant cat needed. I said if they didn't have both, that I would be glad to foster the cat. But they reassured me that she would be given all the care she needed.

Yeah that's what they told me when I asked them to look after a cat for me until I could pick it up the next day.. and they killed it.

I am a huge fan of domesticated cats, but feral cats are a completely different story.  Cats are not meant to live wild, they are not well adapted to the conditions out there after millions of generations of domestication.  It is bad for the cat, and it is worse for the ecosystem.  They compete with other predators for food, they build up communicable diseases (like rabies), and cause all kinds of problems.

I would never feed a wild animal like a bobcat or coyote or raccoon.  But feeding feral cats that have been neutered/immunized seems like the most humane solution to the damage wild cats are doing.  Keeps them from over-hunting, keeps them from reproducing, and keeps them giving rabies to other wild creatures.

ETA:  My shelter has released 3 feral cats back to me after neutering/immunizing (for free).  Full disclosure -- I adopted 2 cats from them, and routinely support their fundraisers.

This is why I say most. I'm glad you found a good shelter.

I just don't get offended by stuff like that. You know why? Because showing you're offended shows that you have been overpowered. Thus, the man has achieved what he set out to do in the first place. I KNOW I'm better than a person who acts that way, so there's no reason for me to get upset over it. Laughing in their face shows that you don't give a **** what they say.

If more women were less sensitive, this crap wouldn't happen so often. The man's thrill of hurting a woman's pride to increase his own would dwindle. Grow some balls, ladies.

Caring about people on the internet aint my style.

Anyway, men only change when you let them. If my bf started drinking or calling me fat, I'd kick his ass. He respects me and knows that I'm not someone to be pushed around. Most women don't stand their ground and they let themselves be trapped in a terrible situation by a douche. No guy is interested in a door mat. You have to respect yourself for someone else to.

Wow. Look at you. So wise and so strong and so worldly all at the grand old age of 20!

Someday you just might need the advice, the empathy and the support that the OP - heck, for that matter - all of us need at times.

Just hope that when that time comes you don't hear "hahahaha and this is what happens when... . Sucks!"

Michachu's only been trying to help the OP, even when she was pushed away. That really shows that she cares.

And jackattack, men (and women) can change during a marriage. A lot. Ptcmama's husband could have been a wonderful man when she married him, or not. What matters is, ptcmama posted on the lounge that she had a problem, and people are trying to help her.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on this...

I get health insurance through my work for my husband and I, and the monthly prices are going up a lot next year, and my copays are much higher. Does this have anything to do with the proposed healthcare bill?

No. It hasn't even gone through yet, lol.

Google "implantation bleeding". About 1/3 of women have blood spotting when they've conceived. This is actually one of the first signs of pregnancy.

Don't count your blessings just yet.

I guess I really want to know now is-
Can boys and girls truly be best platonic friends?

No.

Yes, they can. I've been friends with a guy for 5-6 years now and there is absolutely no other feelings other than friendship. We stay over at each other's houses all the time because we stay up all night watching movies and playing video games. I have a boyfriend and he has a girlfriend.. it's never been an issue with them because they can tell it's obvious we are 100% friends only. It's rare, but it happens.

It's also pretty funny because we are both OPPOSITES of what we find attractive. I am attracted to big manly men and he is a dangerously skinny girly boy. He loves short tiny girls and I am a semi-tall fat girl ;) hahaha

You're probably ashamed from the depression that a starvation diet has caused you. Undereating can severely alter your moods. I was a total depressed bitch when I was undereating, and since I've upped my diet to 1800 cals I am a totally different person. You should really try to go into recovery.

I'm sorry, man.. that sucks :( I don't know if I'd be able to be friends with someone that I couldn't get over. It seems like the heartbreak wouldn't be worth it, plus you might pass up an awesome lady if you're too hung up on the friend. You should try to go out with other friends.
