| I can't pick - I love both! Also, props to my local food co-op that's only 8 blocks from my house... between these three, I'm a very happy camper. |

I hate my job with the white-hot intensity of a thousand burning suns - which is why I decided to finally go for a bachelor's degree (I'm a 26 y.o. sophmore). Currently, I'm working in a large medical billing office. Unfortunately, I only do data entry, no coding or anything. The job pays pretty well for where I live, but it leaves me feeling completely unfulfilled. Whether or not I'll ever find a dream job isn't my top priority at the moment, finishing my degree is. I do hope to land an internship in my field of study next year. I don't even know if a dream job exists for me. I'm just interested in helping others, seeing some of my ideas take flight, and being involved in my community. |

| I'd go to a site such as recipezaar, and use the recipe sifter tool (located under the "recipes" tab). You can narrow the recipes down by including only ingredients you have available. Here's a search I did with onions, peppers, and squash (hopefully the link works!). You can expand or restrict the search from there. Good luck! | |||
| The Lounge | Any MINI owners?? | Apr 28 2008 16:53 (UTC) |

| My mother drives one, and also lives where snow isn't ever a problem. It's acutally pretty roomy in the driver's and passenger's sets, but is pretty cramped in the back seat (obviously). I did see they've come out with a new version with a longer body and a small 3rd door to give access to the roomier back seat. Otherwise, she loves it. It's great on gas, drives well, and it exceptionally easy to park. Plus, there's MINI clubs popping up all over the country, so it's easy to meet other owners. | |||

| I honestly feel bad for everyone who's getting resistance or ridicule from those around them. Since I gave up meat in February, I've received nothing but support and encouragement from everyone I know. I guess it boils down to people will always judge you based on your choices and lifestyle. Either way, take pride in the fact that you're considering the effects of your decisions and making choices that will better the world around you. | |||

Weekdays: 300-500 Weekends: much more, as we have a big breakfast/brunch type meal most Saturdays and Sundays around 10, skip lunch, a small snack in the afternoon, and dinner. My breakfast today (Huevos Rancheros, toast, fresh fruit and coffee) was about 750. |

Awesome idea! Here's links to some of my favorites, I'll add more as I think of them... some call for cheese/dairy products, but I have tried them without, or used a vegan substitute and they've turned out great. Quinoa Tabouli Barley Risotto Greek Chickpeas with Spinach Vegetable Korma |

| With the nice weather approaching, now's a great time to get in the habit of walking/biking instead of driving whenever possible. Buying items like rice, beans, pasta, etc. in bulk cuts down on packaging waste. Shopping at thrift stores for clothes and household items also reduces packaging. Supporting local businesses keeps money in your community, and helps reduce the need for transporting goods around the country. The best part is (for me at least), most of these will save money too! | |||

| The store that I buy my bulk items will weigh my empty containers first, then deduct the weight price when I pay. I generally don't use the produce bags either. | |||

| Quinoa is delicius. It needs to be washed though, if you didn't buy the prewashed kind. It's also high in protein, and is considered a "superfood". Here's a link to my favorite quinoa recipe. Enjoy! | |||

| Vegetarian | Soy and Hypothyroidism | Mar 09 2008 00:10 (UTC) |

There's so much conflicting info on this issue it will make your head spin. I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and still enjoy fermented soy products in moderation (at most a few times a month). I read labels and avoid products containing unfermented soy products or hydrolyzed vegetable protein. I will indulge in fermented soy products every once in a while, and it's usually opposite the time I take my medication - usually at dinner since I take my pill at 6AM. I highly recommend Living Well with Hypothyroidsim, by Mary Shomon. She recommends avoiding unfermented soy products such as fresh soybeans, soy nuts, soy sprouts, soy milk, and tofu. Fermented products such as tempeh and soy sauce don't seem to be problematic if consumed in moderate amounts. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough research re: hypothyroid patients and soy consumption, so I try to keep my intake to a minimum. As for the other foods you listed, Shomon recommends avoiding them in raw form. Thorough cooking will minimize or eliminate the goitrogenic effects of these foods. She also goes into much detail re: being hypothyroid and losing weight, and discusses other sympoms of hypothyroidism such as fatigue and sluggishness. |

| We'll be adopting the kittens out to friends at 10 weeks, after we've had them wormed and fixed. We will be keeping mama cat, though. I'd love to keep them all, but we already have a dog and another cat, and our lease won't allow it. Mom is tortoiseshell, and I'm pretty sure dad is a neighborhood stray that has tuxedo markings. He's pretty scared of people and won't let anyone approach him. |
