Welcome irishdunne81! I feel just like you when I run, I HATE it when I start, but as soon as I stop I feel soooo good. I run about between 2-4 miles a couple times a week and do strength training (weights) the other days. Saturday and/or Sunday I surf and rest. :) VG and VP, I wrote the longest message the other day and it didn't post! So frustrating! To sum up, I started with acrylics, DH asked for a painting and I haven't done many paintings since, like u guys. ;) VP, how awesome you got your appointment! I wonder what your HcG levels are... I took a PT this morning and it was negative, but it may be too early to tell. VG, did you make it to the gym?? I'm going to a hilly park to run today. Happy Sunday ladies! |

It is indeed possible that you're pregnant. Our cycles, including when we ovulate, vary and so it is possible to get pregnant almost anytime during your cycle. If you're not pregnant, and don't want to be, perhaps you should use proper birthcontrol, and not rely of the "pulling-out" method. It's a gauranteed way to get pregnant eventually. :) If you are and you're happy about it, congratulations! |

I've only painted a little before. And this was hard. I almost cried! :0 But is was beautiful (the beach, not my painting)... the sun sparkles on the water... As far as nutrients go, I agree, we all should really take a look at what we're getting and not getting. I think we get into eating habits and end up consuming a lot of the same things over and over and don't get certain things our bodies need. Like probiotics, iron, calcium, etc. Kombucha tastes a lot like vinegar, so if you don't like vinegar don't even bother, but there's something about it... let me know if you try it! I wonder how VP is doing...... |

Lol, Full House??? I must be in the right group. *flashback* VG, maybe your body is just looking for something particular and hasn't found it yet (vitamins?). Sounds like your snacks aren't too bad. It could be a cycle thing too. I'm ravenous right before ttom. It may sound wierd, but that Kombucha stuff helps quell the appetite. Last night I was bad, but could have been worse. I won't even admit what I ate, but I at least I shared the main course with a friend. Hope you're all having a good weekend! I'm taking an Oil-Painting-On-The-Beach class today. We're going to one of my favorite beaches and a pro painter is going to teach us how to paint the ocean-scape. :) |

Man, I drank too much last night. I've totally lost my tolerance. When I was young JD went down so easy... now, not so much. I have a birthday party tomorrow night and I've got to keep my alcohol and calories under control. I just have no self-control when I'm out... I must remember to treat my body like a temple! |

VP, there's tons of options, but not that many that may be appetizing to you. Here's a link (http://www.pregnancy-calendars.net/protein.as px). Something not on that list that may be yummy..... jerky.... or maybe kashi products. The waffles are yummy and the golean cereals are good dry. |

Lol. Dh and I aren't good enough to have that super fast game you guys are thinking of. Although I did hit his hand with my racket during the game. The ball is soft and doesn't hit us even though we bump around the court awkwardly. VG, the movie does have some funny references for us hippy yogis, but it's a wierd combination of a Vietnam movie and Dazed & Confused. Let me know what you think. VP, I don't know if you've ever had it, but I ate at In&Out for the first time in a long time. I was very naughty Hope you all are having a good Tuesday! |

I feel better too. I took it easy, ate whatever I wanted, but played racketball with dh and had soooo much fun. We sweated more in 20 minutes than 30+ of running. It was great. We also saw Men Who Stare at Goats. It was ok but not nearly as good as Oh Brother Where Art Thou. VG, your weekend sounds awesome! I love the sore feeling. My abs are a little sore. :) Maybe you could ask a trainer at the gym how to lift with your injuries. I hate the idea of lifting with not enough weight. I'm sure there's some scientific way to slowly gain support muscles.... hmmmmm... VP, it must have been so fun telling your mama! Stay active for your mental health, but try not to overdo it too much. Are you increasing your calories or is it too early for that? |

Oh, VP, I totally know how you feel! The early pregnancy sleepies. :) Try and rest whenever you get a chance and definitely rest at home. Mmmmmmm..... pumpkin cheesecake........ I had friends and family over on Halloween, but I had a cold (that nasty thing going around everywhere apparently) and after a couple of glasses of wine I fell asleep (at 9ish!) so everyone had to clean up after themselves and hang out without me. This stupid cold is hanging on for dear life, but it's given me an excuse to be lazy. I'm still eating well though. VG, it does sound like you're doing good! Maybe after Sunday you can "just say no" to any social things for a couple of days or take a weekend off with just your BF... |

oh, I know, I know..... still ttom for me too. Today's sin.... Thai for lunch and nacho cheese chips for snack (at least they were organic. :/ ) but I guesstimated the calories, logged the rest and am going to run in a few minutes. keep your chin up VG, enjoy a nice cocktail tonight, and do a lot of dancing at the concert tomorrow.

Hi ladies. How's it going? VP, I can't wait 'til Wednesday! VG, it's good to hear you be pro-active. I was grumpy and self-sabotaging too. It's ttom so I've forgiven myself. :) I've been pretty active b/w running, yoga, and surfing... but I've been pretty lazy too, about 1/2 the effort. Welcome nita999! This is a great group for people who believe in exercise and balance for a healthy life. |

You're right VP, I just need to be patient. It's hard to not be in control though. VG you shouldn't be too hard on yourself too. After all, it is just the day after Thanksgiving. And what were you thinking stepping on the scale after dinner?!?! Sounds like a bad science experiment to me. I'm in charge of all our eating habits in the house, so if my husband isn't feeling his best, he blames me. :) I like it though. I know way too much about nutrition to give up control of our diets. And it is "our" diet. So I know what you're going through. TMI: I've had terrible indigestion since yesterday. Last night it woke me up and it felt like I drank battery acid. This is new for me... It seems like nothing is helping. Do you have any remedies to share? I don't eat rich foods, I didn't have anything spicy, fatty, alcohol or any other triggers I've read about. I ate too many lentils and took a nap. I think I'm blaming the nap for now.

I had a good weekend too! Surfed, went to a Michael Franti concert, ran, all good fun. :) My weight, on the other hand, is moving is the wrong direction. I got on the scale this morning, and now my day is ruined. *sigh* I guess all I can do is keep on keeping on. I'm heading to the gym tonight. |

Welcome monsterswan! As vegetariangeek mentioned, anything less than 1200 calories is dangerous. The good news is that this site has many great tools to help you find out exactly how many calories you should be consuming and how much exercise can help you burn off those little extra treats. It seems like it's on everyone's mind these days, and I hate to jump on the band-wagon, but I'm also going to be spending a lot of time in a kindergarten class this year, and know those creatures are germy! |

Welcome missmoonlight, congrats on your losses already. Keep up the good work! I joined the October weight loss challenge and am looking to lose 5 lbs this month. The doc declared me workout ready today, so I get to run today, gym tomorrow. YEAH! It's been toooooo long. Thanks VP for your kind words. I'm glad that y'all are there for me. :) I know you'll feel better after your workout tonight. VG, the cold is going around bad here. I'm actually thinking of getting a flu shot, just in case. I'm not sure how I feel about them though. Thoughts? Your dinner sounds yummy and full of antioxidants. I read somewhere that to get the iron out of spinach, you need to eat it with vitamin C. Otherwise it doesn't get absorbed. Sweet potatoes do have C, but it couldn't hurt to take a supplement. Good way to keep the germs away too. :)

kyoung81, when i started ccing, I lost 30 lbs., kept it off for a couple of years without counting, but with all the knowledge that this website and its regulars have given me. what i found to be most effective: 1) sweat everyday 2) always have cooked lentils in the house 3) count calories but don't obsess, what's important is being aware of what and how much you're really consuming. That's my 2 cents anyways. :) |

So , some bad news... I ended up losing the baby. :( The whole process was really difficult and took all of my emotional and physical energy. I haven't been able to exercise in for EVER it feels like. I'm still feeling blah but I'm emotionally doing better. VP, I didn't get to read your journal before this, but it sounds like things are going well for you! VG, lazy is good sometimes. Especially if you've kept healthy munchies around. Laziness make future workouts much better. More sweat.... :) Anyway, sorry to lay such heavy news on you. Hope you're all doing well! |
