| Wow, I'm a sissy!! Or did I leave you under the impression that I'm a man???? I only am lifting 14 pound dumbells and that is very hard for me to do 15 reps. I had been doing 25 reps with 8 pound dumbells until everyone told me to go heavier. I started with 5 pounders in October and just started with the heavier weights. I must really be doing something wrong. | |||

| Welp, I've been doing this the last couple times I've weight trained and I'm really "shaky" when I'm finished. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. It would normally take me an hour and a half to do my weight lifting and now it may only take me 45 minutes since I'm doing less reps. I honestly WANT some bulging muscles but I know thats not possible for a woman. I normally do a 5 miles walk/jog every other day that I don't strength train. Thanks for everyones advice. | |||

| Fitness | Anyone hear of a Periformis Muscle? Sort of like sciatic nerve pain. | Mar 07 2008 17:40 (UTC) |
|
| I'll try anything!! Yesterday, the doc made me get an x-ray in case there wasn't something else wrong with me. The next step is to go to New Jersey (4 hours away) to a specialist that will inject antibodies into my piriformis muscle so that my body will concentrate on that muscle to heal it. I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT!!!!!! So, I'll take any advice from anyone!!!! | |||

| Fitness | let's get walking over 50 | Oct 17 2007 14:29 (UTC) |
|
| Hi Linda, I'm 51 years old and I've been walking on my treadmill for 10 years, but this year, I started walking outside and I love it!!!! I normally walk 5-8 miles per day but that time will be shorter since its getting dark earlier. I've decided to walk at my place of work because they have pole lights. The park I walk in has a lot of slopes and I used to struggle with breathing, but not anymore. My only problem I've had is with my toes. I think it was my shoes. Also, I was getting a lot of charlie horses, but I found out that was because I wasn't stretching. So, you can ask this "old gal" anything and I'll be happy to help. Good Luck! | |||

| Hey, I wondered where you were with my answer!!!!! I knew you would know the answer. Do you drink a protein shake after a weight lifting workout? I also read that too. Something about helping the muscles. This is all so new to me. I've only ever done Billy Blanks Boot Camp tapes and I do lots and lots of walking. Now since I've lost 45 pounds, its time to tone up. Thats were I am...............sorta on my own and don't know how to do it. I'm sore and only used 3 pound weights.................I'm pathetic!!! LOL LOL | |||
| Fitness | should you be sore after lifting weights? | Oct 17 2007 01:18 (UTC) |

| OK, I'm confused. I started with weights on Sunday and I'm really sore too. I read in topic that you are to give your muscles a rest the day after you do weights, then in another topic, it is posted to keep lifting, even when you're sore. Which is it???? I read that we are tearing our muscles a little when we lift weights. I don't know what to do!!!! | |||

| Hi Melkor,
Well, I'm trying to "kill 2 birds with one stone".........LOL LOL LOL I thought I could give my arms a little weight training while I'm walking. I normally walk 5-6 miles a day, longer on the weekends. Sooooo, I have lots of time to help with my "batwing" arms. Honestly, I've tryed using my sons dumbbells and they are so big and ****, even though I only have 3 pounds on them. The womens weights are made to be a little more compact and easier to carry. Was that you that didn't know they made weights for women??? P.S. Oh yeah, I've seen Toby do that song in concert MANY times. I threw a cigar at his feet last year when he sang that song..........perfect timing!! This year he flipped me "the bird".............my proud moment..............NOT............LOL LOL LOL LOL |
