| Weight Loss | Has anyone had success incorporating wine into their diet and still lose weight? | Jul 09 2008 18:24 (UTC) |

I've been drinking red wine all the way through my weightloss. I have lost about 25 pounds so far and am almost at my goal weight. Listen to everyone else's advise and just do it in moderation. I usually have 1-2 glasses about 3 nights per week, and just make sure it works into my calories. |

| Weight Loss | how were your eating habits when you were a kid? | Jul 07 2008 21:07 (UTC) |
|
I was pretty fortunate growing up. Both of my parents enjoy cooking and eat very well. Junk food was never kept in the house. We only got soda, cake, etc for birthdays or special occasions. I did not gain weight until I moved out at 19 and started eating crap. I've now learned to adjust my lifestyle back to my better eating habits and am happily loosing the weight :)

I hiked it when I was 14 with my brothers and Dad. I was in great shape at the time and had an amazing experience! It is incredibly challenging if your not used to hiking uphill for that long, so I would definitely suggest doing more of that before going up Half Dome. I never necessarily "trained" for it, I was just super active and hiked/camped all the time anyways. If you havent been to Yomsemite yet, you will love it! It is absolutely beautiful! Also, bring a bike if you can . . . the biking trails are lots of fun too . . . |

Well I picked up my F11 and worked out with it the first time last night. I absolutely LOVE IT! I had it calculate my resting heart rate and vo2max and surprisingly, the monitor said I burned more calories than my treadmill showed. Plus it also showed how incredibly off the HR monitor on my treadmill is! Thanks for the imput guys! |

Yes, add nuts, especially almonds. They give about 160 Cals for only a handfull and are still good for you. If you like salads, add avocado (almonds are also delicious on salads). I think one avocado is about 230 cals and filled with good nutrients. Add an extra banana in the morning, an extra apple for lunch. There are a bunch of options out there, you just have to research them. But definitely, get at least 1200 cals a day. |

Uugg, I can't stand smackers either! I have a co-worker who sits only about 15 feet away from me and have to put my ear phones in when she eats at her desk. Every day I try to take my lunch at a different time than her because she smacks so loudly and talks with her mouth full. Not to mention she sticks her tongue all the way out every time she puts something in her mounth. Makes me gag . . . |

How about this one? My friend tried this and said she was basically hooked up to a machine that shocked different parts of her body for about 25 minutes, and is supposed to strengthen and tone muscles. ISOGEI (I•SO•J) Isogei uses isometric muscle contractions to strengthen and lift muscles. This method tenses the muscle and strengthens it up to 100%. The muscle will return to it's natural lifted strong form. Tissues attached to the muscle (i.e. face, breast, buttocks, under arms, etc.) will also lift recreating a youthful appearance. Non-surgical lifting is visible in the very first treatment. Why not just lift some weights for 25 minutes?? |

| I finally quit WOW almost a year ago. Besides working that is all I would do. I gained about 30 pounds from it too . . . My bf still plays it sometimes, but makes plenty of time for me, the gym and his work. As long as it doesnt take over your life its fine. But it took over mine so I had to quit completely. I have a very addictive personality . . . | |||

| Weight Loss | Does anyone else get "drunk" during weightloss? | Feb 08 2008 04:15 (UTC) |

| Allydan - I used to drink a bottle of wine per night, about 4 nights per week. I became very sedentary and gained more than 30 pounds in 3 years :( I started my weight loss in April 2007 and have v.e.ry. s.l.o.w.l.y lost 20 of that :) It's when I started limiting my consumption that I really noticed a change . . . not just the weight loss but I actually had energy to work out. Thank so much for the replies, and if anyone else has experience, let me know! Thanks and good luck to all! | |||

| Thanks for the posts! I am just happy I cut back as much as I did! That was a big improvement for me. It's definitely nice to have a lower tollerance now :) I want to enjoy my early 20s with friends without restricting too much but I also want to be healthy! | |||

| Fitness | new fear of the woods | Jan 12 2008 04:29 (UTC) |

| I too, find it scarey running alone. Coming from Portland , OR. I used to run the trails all the time . . . but I always had a friend/dog with me. I dont know how much a dog can really protect me, but it made me feel better. I have always been a very cautious person when it comes to being a single female in the woods. I never run with my headphones in, I'd rather listen to nature and potential danger. These above posters who continue to talk about the rarity of being atacked . . . it may be rare but, well, its always the people who never thought it would happen to them. I would rather to be over-cautious than oblivious. I would definitely recommend the pepper spray (just know how to use it) fire arm as well (know how to use it . . . if you pull a gun, USE IT! it can also become a weapon to yourself), and a dog is good to detour ppl most of the time. I am always thinking about these things because I love to run alone but want to be safe. The whole "it happens so rarely dont worry about it" doesnt apply to me. For all I know is that I could be that 1 in 100000 that gets atacked, and I dont want to take that chance no matter how small. but continue to do what you love, dont let fear rule you, but safety follow . . . all will be good. Much love and happiness to you and your travels . . . |

| Weight Loss | how much percentage wise of stuff shud i eat- please help | Jan 11 2008 15:12 (UTC) |
|
I usually eat about 1600 cals/day and break it down like this: Fat - 20% Protein - 30% Carbs - 50% and no more than 2000 mg of sodium per day. It varies from person to person depending on what your food and fitness goals are. |

| Weight Loss | How many calories do you have to eat to alleviate dizziness??? | Jan 09 2008 02:32 (UTC) |

| ok, I am going to apologize first off for sounding like a bitch (k , now i feel bad already) but do you think this person is for real? who in there right mind thinks they can live off of 500 cals/day. I know ppl need help/support but the fact that this person is also feeling like **** and only eating minimal per day sounds like someone egging us on, wanting our support and to say the same damn thing over and over . . . YOU NEED AT LEAST 1200 PER DAY (FEMALE) 1500 A DAY (MALE). I have personally never had a ED so do not know what it is like mentally, this is just my personal oppinion and do not understand it. I think some people just post for **** and giggles, and I do apologize if this is a real post but . . . geez! If they took the time to look around instead of posting this . . . it would save us all some heart ache. If you are a real poster with real concerns . . . you need to eat more than you do. Yes you will go into starvation mode and make things worse if you dont eat. Loosing weight fast is not the SAFE or EFFECTIVE way. IT MUST BE A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. (something that you are able to stick to day to day) If you are doing this for a fast, imediate drop of weight do whatever the f*** you want. all your weight will come back once you resume eating regular food (hopefully you start eating) . Just know that almost everyone on this site encourages healthy eating habits and exercising, and what your doing is completely not healthy. |

| Weight Loss | alcohol revisited | Jan 07 2008 21:49 (UTC) |

| I would love (and need) to join this group. I tend to enjoy my wine a little too much . . . I can easily polish off a bottle in one sitting (yup thats 4-5 glasses) and dont even need an occasion for it. I do not drink everyday, but I do about 3-4 days a week. Over the past 2 years I gained about 30 pounds, and I believe much of it is due to alcohol. Luckily I was able to drop 15 pounds so far, and I think that quitting drinking can help me get rid of the rest. My goal is absolutely no drinking during the week, and no more than two glasses on Saturday. | |||
