Alice, which knee is the bad one then, the right one, with less muscle? I also do as much online as possible when it comes to shopping. Amazon has just about everything I could want, and more! All the pressies ship to the office so no one at home knows what's going on :) Suddenly realised today that I'd better get the turkey for Thanksgiving if I want it to thaw out by Thursday! And luckily they had the one I wanted at Henry's: frozen, but raised humanely as possible and without antibiotics. Eh, now I need to see if I have poultry seasoning for the stuffing! Had a good weekend, the weather was nice and I felt much better. Did a few hours of wood stacking up in the high desert which was good for the back and leg muscles -- I can really feel it already. Looking forward to an extra short week! Yay! |

I agree, Nancy, this recession is very difficult for many people. My frickin condo has gone down since I bought it, but I suppose if I wait long enough it will at least come back to even and I'm living in it so that's better than rent. Our state, California, had over 12% unemployment when they reported the figures today! That is huge. So many people out of a job, and the poor college graduates don't stand a chance to get anything decent -- they'll be lucky to get a job at MickyDs -- plus so many have student loans to pay back. My kids are still young so dependent on me. I had them later rather than sooner :) Anyway I'm not one to worry too much about money for old age, I mean how long does one really want to live anyway? Specially in bad health. Well, that's just me. No cats here, just a dog, she's 12, her name is Penny, and she's my dearest companion. Our entire family dotes on her. Cats are fine, but only if they poop outside, litter boxes are not for me. Oh I also have an anti social hamster named Eclair, and my girl has a snake named Lola. And I haven't been bike riding since I was sick last week BEB. It took a lot out of me -- I want to believe it was the dreaded H1N1, so I can say "been there, done that." |

I love garlic and onions and eat them all the time, didn't stop me from getting sick :/ My girl, or my boy, or the kid, these are references to my children BEB. Yay! I went to yoga, although I didn't ride my bike because I think that might have been a bit too exhausting. Afterwards I stopped at the produce market and got some celery, carrots, cucumber, red pepper, and jalapeno. Then I came home and made my own fresh v-8 juice in the juicer. I had parsley, garlic, and beetroot at home already. Anyway it's very nutritious and if anyone has a juicer tucked back in their cupboard this is a great way to enjoy it. Finally had a good sleep last night so I've got lots of energy this morning. It's a nice sunny day too, although still a bit chilly in the house. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |

Well, Chris, look on the bright side, if at the last moment it's just you and DH, you could make a nice romantic dinner :) Up .4 lbs! -- could have been worse! You've been doing well so hang in there. I went shopping yesterday and bought a new cocktail dress :) Which is the last thing I need because I never go out to cocktail parties, or a nice meal, or anywhere I might wear such a dress -- but it was cute, it fit, great buy, so I bought it. Also got a pair of long black shorts suitable for work that my girl say make me look like a pirate :( Never mind, I like the fit and I can wear them to ride my bike to work. My weight control has not been good lately, can't make it through one day without eating something that I know will not look well on the scale the next day. One day at a time... I need to make it through one day... That will be my mantra for today. Chris, I checked out your pictures in the gallery -- you're such a cutie! |

Original Post by trhawley: My first thought was similar. How well I wash my hands would depend on the situation. Maybe they're fairly clean already and the bathroom is spotless. In that case a quick 4 seconds would suffice for me :) |

Think positive -- I will eventually reach my goal! Hear you on the eating merry-go-round. Sweets, chocolate, salty stuff, crap food cause me to eat more of same. And I have often been in a similar mode, healthy food all day, give it all back by eating crap at night. It takes a few days of abstaining to get the need for the junk out of your system. You'll know when you want to reach for an apple rather than a twinkie. Goodluck! |

To doctorgrim: Is it really so difficult for you to bow out of this thread? If Christians want to talk about the motivation to lose weight they find through their faith, why is that inappropriate to the CC motivation forum? Personally, I'm not religious, but I know many people are. Many people find great comfort in their faith. Faith is not harmful to others. Taking issue with those of faith is unnecessary. Christianity, in case you hadn't noticed, is a proselytizing religion. A proselytizing atheist is a fool. To all: When I first started using CC there was a fairly active Christian community, with a few threads going where Christians shared their trials and tribulations. I assume and hope these have been moved to Groups :) Groups offer much more privacy and also intimacy with others that are like-minded. |

Nice picture of Kyle BEB. I would never say such a thing to my boy about the wrinkles. I mean there's so many things I have to nag about that would be one I would give a miss on. Poor kids! Nice picture of you too, from the old days! If I take time to straighten my hair, it will take me an extra 5 minutes, but usually I just run a brush through it. Never wear makeup to work either. As for TBL, I'm not a fan of Rudy! I wanted Rebecca to stay and Liz to go. Not that I hate Liz, but I like Rebecca better. Anyway it came down to Allan and Rudy's votes -- we knew how the others would vote! That said, Rebecca looked great after going home. She was running a half marathon! Very impressive so I had to be happy for her. Wow, only 5 left: 3 men, 2 women. Allan will probably have some trouble getting the big numbers. Amanda was astounding last night :) |

They were all stars! They looked good in either style shown! It really depended on the look they were going for: you wouldn't wear your hair down when wearing an elegant evening dress. TBL had their makeover night last night. I told my daughter I wanted a makeover! I really don't though, I rarely feel comfortable when I go outside my "zone." I did wear my hair short for about 20 years though and now it's long again. One benefit of being old -- I don't have to wash my hair as often :) |

Thanks monalisa, you're links put my mind at rest. I already knew that having H1N1 would not give me acquired immunity against influenza the rest of my life :) just against this strain. |

Here's a link to Shay's video BEB. The NBC site has lots of info about everybody. Muesli is a combination of rolled oats, sliced almonds, small seeds, and dried fruit. It's kind of like granola, but raw. Here's my Muesli recipe. I made some cabbage soup last week but I really didn't feel like eating it after the first day. It was good, but not my favourite thing. I guess it's too healthy for me :) I don't think I could do back to back classes of Body Sculpting and Pilates on Tuesday and Wednesday Bonnie! I'm glad you're loving it :) |

Sorry BEB, but the sugar free jello, the nonfat cool whip, those are both processed. Unfortunately most sliced bread is chockers full of extra sodium and sugar too. Margaret, I love muesli -- assemble my own blend. In the summer I soak it in spring water overnight in the fridge and stir in some yogurt in the morning. And we do have shredded wheat :) In winter I prefer Weetabix which I like hot (add boiling water), then throw on a tub of yogurt. Fruit flavoured yogurt is processed too, but I love it for breakfast! TBL will start in less than an hour here on the west coast :) |

I think it can be fun to explore the range when you're dating. When it comes to marriage it really depends on if you're on the same page with the other person. People reach their milestones at different ages. You have to be flexible. |

All this posting by the factions involved has left me curious: in my mind, Christian should be capitalised -- the name is based on a proper noun. However, atheist is not based on a proper noun so it should not be capitalised. Thoughts? |

Bonnie, I'm not sure I know the difference of a yam or sweet potato by just looking. I think the stores label them wrong sometimes. I'm going to google up some info about visual id of yam vs. sweet potato! Edit: Ok, I got the scoop. The thing is that the darker-skinned variety of sweet potato sold in the US is commonly referred to as a "yam." In fact, it's not a "yam" at all. As Bonnie posted, a yam is very different nutritionally from a sweet potato. But don't even think for a minute that the Yams labelled in the US supermarkets are really Yams! They are Sweet Potatoes, so just eat the one you like best. I prefer the darker skinned with the moist orange insides. Some Sweet Potatoes are lighter in colour, and almost white inside and have a crumbly texture like a potato. I doubt we see any true Yams in our markets :) |

If it mutates, it's not the same thing. Therefore you're not "getting it again." That's the way I see it anyway. |

My earlier post on this thread earned me an invitation to Christian CC Group! I am flattered and thank the person that invited me. I'm not Christian though, I just don't thing that atheists or Christians have any right to belittle each others beliefs. Myself, I'm continually fascinated by the positions that people take in both camps. Interesting stuff! Human nature! Yes, very interesting! |
