Hi all.  It's been a stressful week but here we are again at weigh day.  I haven't been on much this week but have been trying to keep up with the posts.  I weighed 130 this morning.  Was hoping for at least 129 but have been way to busy to get my exercise in this past week so maybe next week.

Shruti, sorry to hear about your grandmother.  My mother passed away on my daughter's 9 birthday and it was very hard.  Every year it is a reminder of what happened but it does get a little better with time.  Hang in there.

Sarah, it must be the moon cycle or something.  I have been waking up extremely hungry the past few days and my appetite has been hard to control.  I've also been in a funk but I am blaming it on work stress.  Hopefully it will warm up here and I can get myself out of it.  It was 20 this morning.

Rachael, hope your interview went well.  I have mouth stress...when I have to talk about myself or talk in front of people I don't know, my mouth goes crazy and says all this stupid stuff.  I also giggle when I'm nervous.  Not a good combination.

Sun, sounds like you are having lots of fun.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi all, I've had a rough couple of days with the stomach virus but it didn't stop my appetite, actually the opposite.  I stepped on the scale yesterday morning to a 2lb weight gain.  Anyhow, I had a complete break down and ate way more than I should've and a lot of the wrong things including ice cream that I passed up the week before at a birthday dinner.  Hoping to pick myself up and get back on track this morning.

I have not stopped logging my foods on the CC.  Do you guys usually not log when doing SBD?  I just always have and still seem to stay between 1200-1400 cals/day.  However, I am still not seeing the results that I thought I would.  Oh well, am going to try to continue on and stick with the program.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

I never thought about checking my cholesterol because I have never had a Dr. tell me it was a problem. I went and did an analysis of this month and my average was 309 which seems to be in the range you are suggesting above. However, I am sometimes over 400 on the days that I eat hard boiled eggs. One thing that seems to help is by using the Egg beaters which have no cholesterol.

I know this doesn't help with the hard boiled eggs but it could at least decrease your consumption when you are making recipes, omelets, etc. I even have my husband switched to these since he eats a lot of eggs and heart conditions run in his family. He even likes the taste and fluffiness of the omelets I make with the beaters so you may want to give them a try if you don't already use the.

Ladies, I have a question.  What do you eat when you have the crunchy munchies?  I got into some Fiber one cereal last night but ate way too much.  I just wanted something crunchy that wasn't vegetables.  I am looking for a crunchy snack with very low carbs which I think is the hardest part.

Hi everyone, I have a question about soup.  I saw in the SBD book that most soups are full of carbs and I have checked many on the shelves that are but I wouldn't have thought they be.  Would homemade beef vegetable soup be okay?  Where I work, they always have soups for lunch and I've been avoiding them but I'm getting tired of eating grilled chicken salads which is one of the few healthy, SBD friendly items they serve.

Hi all, it's weigh day.  I weighed in at 130.8 down from 131 last week.  Not much loss but I did start exercising again on Monday and at least did not gain so I am happy.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.   It's been a busy week and I'm glad it's almost Friday even though they are calling for an ice storm starting this evening (WV).  Was planning on working from home tomorrow anyway.

Will check in later.

Erinw43, I sooo agree.  I thought I was the only one that had that problem.  Too bad we can get the jean industry to figure it out.

As for the big legs, I swapped my treadmill for the elliptical because it is so much easier on my knees and shins.  Will it make my thighs bigger?  That is definately not what I want.  It seems like no matter how much I work out and watch what I eat, I still have the pocket of flab on the inner thigh.

Wow Sun what deals!  I would've bought all the drink mixes too.  I have been trying the green teas since they are supposed to be so good for you and found two lipton ones that aren't bad but they can be pricey.  Also, our walmart has some low carb wraps in the refrigerator section by the cheeses that are really good.  They are Buena Vida and there is a whole wheat one that has 7 carbs/3 fiber.  I think the white is the same but I'm not sure because I love the wheat.  You might want to check it out.

Hi Jeannie and good luck with phase 1.  I started SDB in January but actually didn't know much about it which is how I ended up here and the ladies here have been great with the advice.  Good luck on the 1st two weeks, the first few days were the hardest for me because I gave up all the coffee with my favorite creamer.

Hope all is well with everyone else and you guys have a good day.

Hello ladies, it's early Saturday morning and I was so excited when I stepped on the scale and weighed 130.2 (I'm ignoring the .2 Wink).  I actually did it and made it to 130.  Now I have a new dilemma and need some advice.

When I started SBD I exercised a little but found myself too tired during phase 1 plus when I exercise, I always tend to gain weight on the scale and I didn't want the discouragement.  Then life got so hectic, death of a friend, daughter sick, work being crazy etc.  Now I really want to get back into an exercise routine so I can start toning up for summer.  I use an elliptical machine, core secrets ball routines and I have a Firm routine with the Fanny Lifter but it takes so much energy, I have to work my way up to it.

Anyhow, any advice on the scale going up during exercise?  It's too discouraging to work so hard and then watch the numbers increase.  Even though I know people say it's how you feel and you are building muscle, I still see the numbers and want to throw in the towel.  Am I crazy????

Have a good day everyone. I am going shopping to beat off the Winter Blahs. Its going to be fun but cold. I am ready for spring and at least 60 degree weather.

Those who are sick just tuck in and watch a good movie and say a prayer for Sarah.  Those outings can be the worst.

Good morning Ladies.  Well it's finally Valentine's day and I missed my first goal since starting the SBD plan but only by 1# so I am happy.  I weighed 131 today and was shooting for 130.

The cookie monster MUST be on the loose.  I made a batch of Oatmeal Raisin for a co-worker of my hubbys who is going to another job.  They are also my favorite and I couldn't resist.  I admit I did lick my fingers with batter but just a few times and then fell all the way and ate 1 cookie but just 1 and not the biggest one so I am trying to forgive myself and not blame that on todays weight.

Enters, don't know the situation but if he cheats while dating, it will never get better.  Dump him now and find someone who will support you all the way.  I know is seems like there aren't any good ones out there but you would be surprised.  I dated many losers before meeting my hubby.  I think its a process most of us have to go through.

Bee, sorry your sick.  Try some chewable vitamin C.  My husband swears by them.  When he's sick, he chews 1000 mg a day, 500 on regular days, and he is rarely sick.

Hope everyone has a good weigh day.  My next goal is 125 on 3/25, my anniversary.

I have the same problem.  Every time I add light weight training, elliptical machine workouts, etc., I gain weight and it's discouraging.  My husband tells me it just water the muscle is holding and that if I continue I will eventually see the results but it's just so discouraging when I see the scale creep up after I did all that extra work.

Good luck and hang in there.

Hi all, I haven't don't think I've done the Thursday weigh post before but am down from 133.4 to 132.2 from last Thursday.  I had a 130 goal for Valentine's but it doesn't look like that will happen but I'm still shooting for it.

Sarah, I know what you mean.  I always get below 135 for a few weeks and then somehow manage to get back up to 136-138 range.  I'm in the same boat so we'll just have to stay strong.

I have a sweet 16 birthday party to attend tomorrow evening and am decorating 2 cakes for it to boot.  Restraint is going to be tough so I am going to try and hover around the veggie tray.  Do you think I would look rediculous if I taped my mouth shut Sealed

Good luck to everyone else on their weigh-ins.  Have a good day ladies.

Lahoo, hang in there.  I just finished Phase 1 and I got a little cranky but not too bad.  Caffeine and coffee were the hardest for me since I don't like decaf drinks.  I went from around 60 oz of coffee to 10 oz and it was tough but you will weather through.  Good luck and just keep telling yourself you are in a good mood.  It helps.

Hope everyone else is doing well.  Been on Phase 2 for 2 days and already putting some weight back on.  Trying not to get discouraged especially since I only added yogurt and a TBS of coffee creamer back in.

Can someone tell me how to post the Thursday weight?  Do you have a format?  I was going to start posting on Thursdays.

Thanks to all for all the help the past fewweeks.  You guy are wonderful.

I used to work on a model that was at the gym.  It was great and wanted to get one for my home but when I asked how much they cost, they told me $3000.  I bought a proform space saver model but about $300 at a place called Play It Again sports.  It was a factory buyout and was brand new.  I just went in and tried every model they had and picked the one that was the smoothest and didn't feel cheaply made.  It has been wonderful.  It was a little rocky at first but my husband tightened up all the screws and now it's just as smooth as the one at the gym.  My 10 year old daughter even loves it.

See if you have one of those Play it again shops or something similiar where you are.  They take equipment on retainer and resell it for others who decided not to keep what they bought.  Sometimes you get lucky and they even have new stuff.  In the store, mine would've cost $800.

 Good luck

Good Morning,

I'm not a Super Bowl fan but had guests all day yesterday so I didn't make it through without snack cheating but I chose SF pudding thinking it was at least not as bad as other things I could've gotten into.

I was so discouraged about not losing much weight during phase 1 (today is day 14) that I went to the library and got the book.  I've already read it and see where I was making some major mistakes.  Now I want to start over but I don't think I can do another 2 weeks of phase 1 right away.  Any advice on how long to give phase 2 a try before going back to do Phase 1 the right way or should I just jump in and try to do the Phase 1 over?

Bee, Thanks soooo much for the Egg Beaters tip.  I had no idea that they had no fat.  I have always eaten low fat diets in the past and stayed away from eggs all together so trying the SBD plan has been a total 180 for me and I'm just not the knowledgeable about all the proteins yet.  I'm actually excited to try them.

Sun, sorry about the computer.  I work in the IT field and really hate when my computer goes on the fritz.  Glad you could get some help to get it semi-working again.  Good luck.

Hope everyone has a good Monday Laughing

I usually have at least 30% fat no matter what changes I try.  I tried egg whites but don't like them but I will check out the egg beaters if they are lower in fat.

I will also try less cheese and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice and tips.

HELP, ready to throw in the towel.  I have 3 more days to go in Phase 1 and have only lost 2.5 lbs.  Whats up?  Everyone else I read about loses at least 6 lbs.  I am very discouraged because I've really done my best to stick to it and am afraid I will start putting on weight in Phase 2 since I didn't really lose anything in Phase 1.

I try to exercise at least 45 minutes 4-5 days a week on my elliptical machine.  I miss some days because of work and children's schedules.  I haven't been doing any weight toning like the ball because that always causes the scale number to increase and I didn't want the discouragment during Phase 1.

I do drink 2 - 3 diet sodas per day.  I heard that aspartame can block fat loss.  Does anyone know if that's true?  Maybe that's the problem???  I also drink about 80 oz of water though.

I got so hungry yesterday and my children were eating brownies that smelled great.  I refrained but I did have a protein bar that had no sugar.  Does anyone know if they are allowed?

Maybe I am making food mistakes that are throwing me off like the pudding misconception I had last week.  I just don't know.

Thanks for the vent.  I am going to do my best to stick it out for the remaining 3 days I have.  Good luck to all with the weekend.  It's the hardest for me.

Hello everyone, would love to join you guys.  I find myself checking this post several times a day.  Sorry, I am a computer junkie Surprised.  I am still in Phase 1 and a little discouraged because I am actually gaining weight but just a little.  I noticed today was your weigh in day so mine is 133.4.  I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm a little gal and for me it is.  My Goal is 120.   Although I don't think I ever weighed that (I was an obese child).

Those pancakes sound delish but I'm really trying to stick to the Phase 1.  Although I had the pudding mishap because I thought it fit the criteria.

Are the sugar free chocolates really good on Phase 1?  I have been eating them.

Hope everyone has a good day.  Weigh-in days are always tough for me because it tends to set my mood.

Sorry, I hate Jello (hospital memories).  I meant Jello pudding.  It's been a long morning already and it's only 7:45.

The shrimp with broccoli is from the Chinese place so I'm not exactly sure what's on it.  I am assuming it is a worchester/terriaki sauce.  It is brown but not like gravy.  I end up dumping most of the sauce from it because it's usually way too much.  I would think it's similar to the Beef and chicken with broccoli dishes if you've ever had that.

I know what you mean about nuts, I can eat half a can easily if I am eating straight from the container.  I will try the pistachios.

Hi ladies, I have a few questions I thought maybe you could answer.  I started the SBD and am on day 9 of Phase 1.  Here's my questions:

Is sugar freee Jello an allowed treat on Phase 1.  I checked the ingredients and it doesn't have any high fructose corn syrup and only 1 gram of fat.

What are the best low fat nut choices?  I love nuts and actually stayed away from them previously because of their fat content.  My problem now is that I have to limit myself of I find that I am eating way too many.

One of my favorite Chinese dish is Shrimp with Broccoli (I don't eat the rice).  I also had this for dinner last night but can't find it in the food list anywhere.  I went on the web and couldn't come up with the food information.  Was this a no-no?  Without the rice, wouldn't it be okay for Phase 1?

Is it normal for your weight to flucuate.  The first 6 days, I didn't lose anything then on the 7th morning, I was doen 4 lbs.  Now, 2 days later I am back up 1 lb and am wondering if it could be the pudding I ate last night :-).

Thanks for the help.  I have been reading your posts and they are helpful as well as encouraging.

I can understand your dilemma and can tell you that I always go back to my treadmill.  No matter what I have bought and tried, it's the easiest thing to go to.  Rent some good movies and watch them while you walk.  Also, you might like a rotex machine.  I used to belong to a gym and it was my favorite because it was easiest on my knees.  It took me a while to build up my time but once I stuck with it regularly, I was able to do 30 minutes without any problem.  The only reason I still don't do it is because I don't own one and the good ones (I don't like the jerky models) are expensive.  So if you go to buy one, try many of them and buy one that's smooth to you.

Good Luck.

I use the no cal butter spray, low-cal bread (80 Cal for 2 slices), 2% cheese slice (fat free is disgusting and doesn't melt) (60 Cal) and ham (6 slices for 50 cal) for a total of 190 Calories for a wonder grilled Ham and cheese.  Then I add 1/2 portion of low fat pringles (60 Cal) and feel like I am able to eat just like my girls.  My 10 year old daughter also loves the sandwich made like that.
