Weight Loss Fresh New Start.... Wanting to lose 10 pound by Nov. 1st Sep 24 2008

Original Post by laura001:

Hey, i'm with you as well!  I'm 5'4, 122 lbs and plan on losing about 10 lbs by Nov 1st.

I'm planning on working out 4-5 times a week and following a 1500 cal/day diet.

I'm pretty new at this, any suggestions as to what kind of foods I should eat, what I should stay away from, etc?

Good luck to all of you, I'll keep you posted!!! :)

Hey Laura! I'm not an expert, but it sounds like you already have a great plan. I try to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible and plenty of water. What I have noticed making a difference is cutting back my intake of starbucks frapps and diet cokes. I keep a food log and jot down every calorie I consume. Exercise plays a major factor too. 4-5 days a week of cardio and weight training will be great.

Anyhow it sounds like you already have it down! Looking forward to hearing about your success!

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

If I was at my goal weight:

Height: 5 feet, 3 inches
Weight: 108 pounds

"Your BMI is 19.1, indicating your weight is in the Normal category for adults of your height."

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/healthyweight /assessing/bmi/index.htm

The information stated above is from the US Government website of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
My age is 25.
So according to the government site my weight and height would still be classified as Normal Weight, not underweight Wink

I have come to the notion, that I keep telling myself 'never again' although this just starts the bingeing cycle. The all or nothing thinking gets me every time and usually if I eat too much before noon (aka over my calorie intake), i just put everything in and keep eating like that all day because the whole day is ruined.

NEW THINKING: I'm going to move on and don't let my overeating result in ruining the rest of my day.

I totally know what you mean. I need to start thinking like this too. I have done so good for the past 2 1/2 years with calorie counting. I lost 50+ pounds with counting and exercise. I stayed at 113 for over a year Smile

But now things have changed..... I am at 118 now. It is all thanks to binging. I feel like after I start binging my whole day is ruined and it's all down hill from there. It used to be a once a week occurrence and now it has become a 4 day a week occurrence. I need to stop!

I plan on taking one day at a time to avoid my binge urge and once again lose the pounds I have let creep back on.

I'm going on a trip tomorrow for 4 days to St. Louis, MO. I hope that I can maintain a healthy diet while I'm there. I have a feeling I am going to over indulge. Embarassed

I am 5'3.

108-110 would be an ideal weight for me.

I won't do anything drastic, I am just going to re-route my eating style to cut back on the sweets. I have a sweet tooth that needs to be tamed! lol

But by eating more healthy and working out more often than I have been I should be able to see some results.

7000 cal deficit? Yikes! Where can I find that info? On Calorie-Count somewhere or somewhere else?

Smile

I thought I was the only person that gained weight while on Depro!

When I was 18 years old I started Depro. I weighed 114 pounds at the time, and had never been over that!

After 3 rounds of depro shots I had gained to well over 165 pounds. People thought I was expecting a baby!

I am now 24 years old and weigh 116 pounds. I am almost to where I want to be as far as my weight. It took me a few years to lose all the weight.

The first few years after getting off the depro I wasn't as motivated to lose the weight as I am now. I was actually pretty depressed over the weight gain.

My best advice to you is for you to stop the shots, start counting calories, and use the tool on here to see how many calories you should be consuming. I consume about 1500 calories a day. Keep up on the exercise too! I go 5 times a week, doing 5 hours of cardio a week and 5 hours of weight training a week.

If you go full force you shouldn't take as long as I did to get the weight off.

What are your start weight and weight gain amounts? How many calories a day do you consume, and how many times a week do you work out?

I had better luck on the pill. I didn't gain of that. They really should have more awareness about the weight gain on the shot. That was awful and I feel for you!

How much have you lost?  50 pounds

Is this the 1st time or a repeat performance? On going process.

Are you finished? Nope, I still have 9 pounds to go!

How long did it take?  In total it took me 2 years.

How long have you kept it off?  I started a healthy lifestyle in 2004. I maintained 113 lbs for a whole year. I have been between 110-116lbs for the past 2 years now.

What approach did you use? I started calorie counting and keeping a food journal. I had an accountability buddy and worked out at the gym 3-6 times a week. I cut back on fast food and stopped drinking soda.

Weight Loss Delays in weight gain and loss? Jul 16 2008

I've experienced that too. Like a delay in the results of either loss or gain. Usually it's a 2 day lag. Best advice is just to stay on track, even if the scale doesn't show the results right away.... because eventually it will. And if you slack a couple times just remember to get right back on track! Wink

I know it's not Thursday yet.....

So hopefully I maintain this loss until then and not jinx myself:

I weighed myself this morning and I weigh 116.8 lbs. Down from Wednesdays weight of 119.6 lbs.

Yippie!!

I have gone to the gym 4 times this past week, and my calories have averaged at 1600 cals a day.

I think I will achieve better results if I follow CC's recommended tool of 1254 (1300 calories) a day.

I hope everyone is seeing success as well. Wink

*Last night I was already at 1300 cals, and felt satisfied and my husband made the most delicious smelling pizza. It took all my will power to refuse a slice! I'm trying to stay satisfied through out the day and not over do it by bingeing on yummy junk food!*

I am 5'3 120 lbs right now. I would like to get down to 113 at least. I think 15 pounds less would be too small for me, that would put me at 105 lbs. I think 107 would be a great weight for my frame and height.

I turn 25 at the beginning of September so this will be perfect!!

CC says that I should consume around 1300 calories a day.

Current weight: 120

Goal weight by August 25th: 107

Plan: Eat 1300-1400 calories daily, exercise for 1 to 2 hours 5 times a week at the gym.

So we are checking in every Thursday??

My biggest accomplishment so far has been running the L.A. Marathon last Sunday. 26.2 miles with out stopping. I love my healthy lifestyle Wink

Overall I have lost 50 pounds with counting calories and exercise over the past few years. The great part too is that I have maintained my weight for a good year now. I feel confident that this is a change I will stick with through out my life time!

Weight Loss When people ask what you did to lose...what do you say? Dec 01 2007

In total I have lost over 50 pounds. I was always a thinner person my whole life and when I put the weight on people thought I was expecting a baby or something. Now that I have taken it off... the healthy way through diet and exercise, people assume either A) I am just un-healthy and taking the weight off by not eating, or B) I am using some magic pill to melt the fat away.

My senior weight in High school was 114 lbs. I gained up to 165 lbs after graduating. Now 7 years later I weigh 113 lbs thanks to becoming more healthy with my life style. Weight loss is not an over night change, it is a life style change. It took me 2+ years to take off all the weight I had packed on. Now I am just looking to maintain.

I am currently 113*114 lbs. Hoping to get down to 109*110. Trying to keep the cals at 1200-1300 a day, but I do slip up once in awhile (like 2 times a week) and eat over 2000 cals. I work out at the gym 4-5 times a week, doing an hour of cardio, 20 mins stomach and 40 mins weights. I hope I can see a change with in the next few months. I have lost about 50 pounds so far (In the last 3 years) ;) I have been at this weight for 6 months now. I just want a few more gone!
