Dee - I like the idea of re-bolding our names after a certain amount of time.  I think it should be individual, i.e. rebold for every 7 days (or another specified amount of time) of eating healthy.  However, I know it might be hard to keep track of everyone!  I'm OK with whatever you decide, though.
And congratulations on getting to the 140s!  :)

buhrill3 - I'm sorry you're struggling with your eating.  What other things besides books bring you comfort and get you away from eating out of boredom?    Walks, music, a nap, calling family or a friend, occupying your hands with activities, like writing, painting, puzzles, knitting, playing an instrument, etc... Just some ideas.

Can I squeeze in at the last minute?  If I'm too late, that's OK; just let me know.  Hopefully I can join in the future.
Undertherainbow, we may be "twins."  I'm also 5'2 1/2", small frame.
I like your celebrity make-over!  :)

Dee,
I need a restart for July 18.  Fell off the wagon...with quite a thud...but I want to keep working at this despite setbacks. (I hate 'em, though!)
I like your suggestion to thininside about dealing with eating one day at a time.  Sometimes it can seem rather daunting, looking at the big picture instead of focusing on the present day and making it a clean eating day.

Check out these websites.  Hopefully they can be of help.  Talk with your physical therapist and/or physician about your specific knee pain, as well.

Hmm...it depends on what kind of activities cause the knee pain and where exactly the pain on your knees are located.  That can help determine what the underlying problem might be.  You may need to see a physical therapist or orthopedist to get a diagnosis and the right treatment for you.

You might need orthotics in your shoes; you might need to do specific lower body weight training exercises; you might need a knee brace. You may also need to learn specific stretches for the different muscles in your legs and glutes.

Sorry I can't be helpful in a specific way.  I can tell you that I too have experienced knee pain, but only in one knee.  I'm doing (specific to my problem, of course) all of the above suggestions I made to you, and it is helping a bit.

I hope the pain in your knees improves!

nunofreak,

Let me see if I can understand you:  You want to look, feel, and be fitter and healthier; yet you've chosen to put yourself in an unhealthy, potentially dangerous state to get there.  That kind of thinking doesn't make sense.

A very low calorie diet (VLCD) should only be carried out under a doctor's supervision.  A diet with as few calories as you've chosen to consume is usually reserved for the very obese with complications (and they're under physician supervision).

Studies have should that people who are on very low calorie diets do not necessarily lose as much in the long run as people who are eating healthy and exercising moderately.

Complications of a VLCD can be fatigue, irritability, gall stones, electrolyte imbalance, depression, a slow metabolism and muscle loss, osteoporosis, anemia, among other problems.

Is it worth it, nunofreak?  I don't mean to be harsh, but sometimes we all need to see the reality of the situation.

You did the right thing by coming here.  I also recommend you consider seeing a nutritionist, a registered fitness trainer, and/or a specialist who works with eating disorders.

May you have health and happiness!

Take care!

18lifetogo, I like your idea of the post-it notes! I think that's a good motivational technique.  I think little reminders are good.  They get my mind back in the game, especially when it shuts off when sweets are near!
I wish you the best!

I'm going to have to trade my bold name for a non-bold.  Tomorrow is going to be a cheat day because, to be honest, I just gotta!
I'd like a restart for July 9 please.  Well... I did pretty OK for time there - almost a full month.  Little by little, though.  At least I'm not eating junk EVERY day now!  :)
I hope everyone had a happy 4th of July!

Checking in - I'm eating well!  :)  The weekend will be a challenge, though with get-togethers and all.  I think a burger is acceptable for me, as long as it isn't accompanied by the chips and desserts!  :)

Hi everyone!  I'm eating healthy and exercising more.  I've lost a couple pounds too!  Gee...I wonder why?! ;)
(I'm pretty happy about that!)

Have a good weekend, everyone, and eat clean!  You can do it!  :)

Just checking in.
I'm eating clean.  :)

Dee, I know I've certainly learned some things about my eating habits and what will work for me (in the healthiest way possible, of course).
I am not opposed to you putting our names in bold.  That actually might be some motivation to continue eating clean.  :)

Apologizes up front for my looong post!

Well, I need a restart for June 10.
Went to a baseball game the other day, and my eating went way out the window!  I ate unhealthy and way too much!  Now I'm paying for my temporary instant gratification by feeling bloated, sluggish, and irritable.  Was it worth it?  Right now I'm thinking NO!  Hopefully I will remember what I feel like right now in the future.

So far I've been able to go for about 2 weeks before throwing all the work out the window.
If you will all bear with me...I think this is a good moment for me to really think about my definition of "clean eating" and to be accountable to myself, as well as to everyone here.

The definition of "clean eating" for me is to eat clean (vegetables,  fruits,  whole grains,  lean meats, fish, beans, low-fat dairy) 90% of the time.  Reality is that I cannot eat clean 100% of the time every single day for the rest of my life... and to be honest, nor do I want to!  (I like to go out and eat a good tiramisu on my birthday.)  :)

However!  If I do eat unclean (...in essence junk food - candy, cakes, doughnuts, cookies, sweet breads, ice cream, chips, French fries, other fried foods, processed foods, sugary foods, foods slathered with butter and salt, etc) it is when it is truly a special occassion (Not, "It's Saturday night; I'm eating chips and ice cream!")... or if I really, truly cannot get out of the situation (Most times, you probably can). If I eat unclean, I will eat small portions only - a taste or a serving of the food, not 3 or 4!

Clean eating also means eating within my calorie allowance; no binging.

I am going to commit to work on eating clean until July 4 - a little bit longer than my 2 week stints so far.  I would like to eventually make clean eating a lifelong habit, but while I'm "training" and to make it less overwhelming, I'm going to make short-term goals.

I'll be honest, and keep you all updated...Just with shorter posts next time!!!

Thanks for "listening" and being patient!  :)

No problem, Dee.

Good for you, foxymama1406.  I'm glad the strawberries/light whipped cream idea helped!

Yeah, purplechowder, I can't hold the mentality of, "Oh, I'll just have a little taste."  That just doesn't work for me.  If I have a taste, I'll want the entire thing.  For me it's best to not have it at all.  After a while (sometimes a long while) the craving for that specific food decreases.

foxymama1406,

How about some strawberries and a little bit of light whipped cream???  Would that help those cravings?

Hope things calm down for you, Dee!

I'm staying clean.  Some days I feel the pull to eat junk, but I'm trying to deal with those cravings as best I can!  It can be difficult!

I see I'm on the board as eating clean since May 15, but I cheated and need to be restarted as of May 30.  Thanks, though!  :)

deejlb,

Not a problem.  Actually, can you start me as of May 30?  I had a cheat day yesterday - I caved and ate chocolates and too many of them!

Thanks!!!   :)

I'm still here.  My last check in was May 23.  Was I removed from the list?  If so, can I be added again?

Thanks!

Still eating clean even though my body is going through some junk food withdrawls!!!  I found that eating a couple of graham crackers satifies my sweet tooth.  At first they didn't help that much; I just wanted something ooey and gooey!  But I stuck with it, and now they do the trick; I never would have thought it possible!  I believe you can train your body and taste buds.

Just started the challenge and am on Day 3.  So far so good; however, I know my body going to go through some junk food withdrawl symptoms!  That's when I have to be very careful!!!
