On top of everyone else's replies (which were good!), why not try Raisin Bran? I love Raisin Bran and 1 cup gives you 50% of your daily iron intake! Same with Mini Wheats and lots of other cereals. |

This sounds really interesting. It seems logical, but I don't pretend to be a scientist... I just watch a lot of Discovery Channel. |

Original Post by alibsam: I think the uglier friends part was a joke. :)
Sometimes it takes me a while to loosen up at the bar, when I feel like everyone's checking out my friends and not me. Eventually I get over myself though and get lost in the music and having a good time with the girls and sure enough, that's when the guys come over to dance or chat me up at the bar.
I LOVE what ncxcrnnr said. And I agree that while most women believe that men don't actually feel this way (and that some guys will behave like they don't!) - that for the most part... they actually do! :) |

That's really not a factual statement at all. Even if it was factually correct, the human condition (and the fact that we lie about going to appointments, getting negative STD test results, or cheat on our partners before or afterwards and exposing ourselves to STDs) really solidifies that that kind of logic is quite foolhardy. It is quite common knowledge that the pill is not an entirely fool-proof method of birth protection (actually NO methods of birth control are, besides abstinence), with the highest percentages of success rate in the high 90's and only if it is taken diligently (same time every day). Besides that, some people are simply more prone to becoming pregnant! I've known quite a few people who have become pregnant while on oral contraceptives and even one who used the pill AND condoms and became pregnant! I personally feel that if you really care about your sexual health and preventing pregnancy, you should use both oral contraceptives and condoms, at the very least until you are in a long-term, monogamous relationship. Even then, both partners should be regularly tested for STDs (which can be simply incorporated in with regular checkups!). That way, IF something still happens, as least you can feel good about the fact that you did everything you could. Way too many people learn the hard way - there's no reason for you to as well.

| It's kinda like doing the housework, I think. If everyone does a little bit, it all gets done, you get a sense of accomplishment and teamwork and not one person is left responsible for the whole mess. I guess that's not bitter or self-serving enough a point of view to be popular though. |

| It's not a cheap shot, I'm trying to give a hard-hitting example of what happens when ignorance and selfishness abounds. It's easy not to give a shit when it's not happening to you, it takes a little effort to be a socially responsible person. | |||

| We got that way because we thought wrong. You're telling me that just because up till now we've acted like selfish, disgusting human beings that we shouldn't bother to develop a social conscience? Well thank GOD people who don't think like you work their asses off, or else we'd still all have African-American people as slaves or telling women they're not worthy enough to vote. Geeze. |

| Giggle, another problem is that you assume that families have only two choices: the child is a slave labourer for Wal-Mart or the family dies. It's simply not true. | |||

| Everyone goes the easy route sometimes. There are some things that aren't always worth putting yourself, your own comfort or your children last to help someone else out. But there are always ways to do your part to make the world a better place and I believe that's part of being a good person. I'm not saying I'm a saint, I just realize that what I do can have either a positive effect or a negative effect on the world and I try to have a positive one as much as possible. | |||

Good reasons to believe in terrible things do not make the terrible things right or good. That's why dictators use terror and "logic" in their propaganda. |

| Yeah, it does. You can argue the jobs and saving 3 cents on a box of apple juice, but if Wal-Mart didn't exist people would still find a way to work and mom and pop businesses wouldn't have to drive their prices up just to survive. | |||

| I don't think it's acceptable in the least. Just because it happens and that's what selfish people in charge of a business will do doesn't make it acceptable. It's disgusting all the same. |

| Well the small businesses I frequent don't have bad deals, they have reasonable prices and quality products. I realize that I'm fortunate that I am in a position where I can make the choice to pay a little more money for something that is not substandard, but we might also want to think of the possibility that if stores like Wal-Mart hadn't undercut everyone, little stores wouldn't have raise their prices to stay in business. |

| Every little bit helps and I agree that often it's a choice between the standard lesser of two evils. Wasting litres upon litres of gas to not spend a few dollars isn't helping anyone, but that's where better planning can make a difference, like has been mentioned before. :) | |||

| giggle_puppy, they already are too big. When they started taking over little towns and ruining the livelihoods of every original entrepreneur who put their 12 cents and their familes every blood, sweat and tear into owning their own business, THAT's when they were too big. We just got a Wal-Mart where my parents live about a year ago and since then 5 stores have closed down. They closed down so quickly, I didn't even get a CHANCE to try and support them. |

| And that's why the world is going to **** and nothing is changing... is an all around lack of empathy and compassion in the world. The majority is simply occupied with their own. Some people aren't in the position where they can make sacrifices to better the world, but everyone who can make some kind of compromise, no matter how great or small, should do it. | |||
