Weight Loss is this normal? Jul 11 2007
20:29 (UTC)
1
If you lose 1lb a week that is a healthy rate to lose weight
I lost at that sort of rate and lost enough for my doctor to tell me I had now become so much healthier
50lb a year is not to be taken lightly

some of those that lose weight quickly find they cannot sustain a lost and often put much of their lose back on

so you KNOW you are losing healthily and that should be celebrated
yes it might take a while but at least when you ge there you should be able to maintain

Well I lost 70lb and my bust size went from a 38dd to a 32e
as you can see from that much of the weight I lost was from the surrounding areas
my bust looks in the same proportion to the rest of my body as it did before I lost the weight

Weight Loss Do you guys remember all carb diets? Jul 02 2007
08:44 (UTC)

I dont remember those diets
BUT I do eat carbs (lots of them)
and I dont eat meat
I have a low protein high carb low fat diet and on that I did lose 5stone
and I kept it off too - until that is I gave up smoking and allowed myself to put some on to help with the quit
now I have about 7lb left to lose to get back to my pre quit weight where Both I am my doctor are happy with me

The diet I follow its a UK diet called Slimming world and I only do the green day options
you can look them up at www.slimmingworld.com
Weight Loss How far are you from your goal measurements? Jun 28 2007

Well I feel much fitter and much healthier - so that is one of my measurable targets the other is not weight or inches but my body fat percentage - when that shows I am healthy I will stop :)

If you are suffering from depression go and see a doctor and get a referal

execise is good for depression so keep with the exercise and healthy eating too will also help with depression
you need foods that contain tryptophan and b vitamins

so eat healthily and exercise and both will help with the depression that in turn will help with the self esteem issues

you can make changes to your life but they wont happen over night

Fitness If your muscles are sore...does that mean you have gotten an effective workout? Jun 23 2007
00:32 (UTC)
1
Its not a complete non sensation but its not a painful sensation
there is a big difference between knowing you have exercised and the sensation being more painful

different clients build muscle at different rates many of the (if combined with a healthy eating plan) can lose inches in a month - most of that through toning as often as little as 2lb in weight is lost
but a whole clothes size is lost
many obviously wont get those results month after month
one client has lost 28 inches and thirty pounds in a year and never had any pain from exercising another client has dropped 4 dress sizes since her wedding last year again without any pain - sensation of having exercised yes but not pain
Fitness weird question Jun 23 2007
00:13 (UTC)
Make sure you NEVER stretch cold muscles

think of muscles like toffee when toffee or muscles are warm they stretch when toffee is cold it is brittle

so if ou want to stretch daily then that is great just make sure the muscles have had a warm up first
Fitness If your muscles are sore...does that mean you have gotten an effective workout? Jun 23 2007

As a trainer we are taught that IF a client stretches PROPERLY they they should not suffer from muscle soreness

the only clients I know who have suffered have admitted to omitting stretches or to not holding them still for the required length of time
when they are supported and stretching technique is checked they all admit to not having sore muscles

If there is a John Lewis near you go in there and be measured
you may well find each place measures you differently
dont just try on the size you have been told you are get measured in all the shops
you may find a 34b will fit you better
slightly larger cup although smaller in the band

I havent tried it but it is a low fat very low calorie version of the atkins

people do seem to lose amazing amounts of weight BUT it doesnt sound very healthy to me
to eat so few calories must mean that vitamins and minerals are lacking - unless you supplement

Thanks every one
The only Gym I can get to ( where my daughter goes) is rather intimidating - I have been with her as a guest - it is full of Barbie doll type women doing very little in the way of a work out

perhaps classes would be more my scene
I will certainly do some more research as I dont want to be tied into a useless contract :)

wow look how much you lost in a week
I was going to remeasure monthly

what exercise do you do to see such great results
Motivation Oh no, this is rock bottom =( (TOM Advice needed) Jun 09 2007

I am the same as you at the moment - just hoping the TOM starts soon
I have been eating little and often today and seem to have coped a bit better - and I have been having a high carb low protein low fat day
might not be what is recommented by some but it really does seem to be helping me with the cravings - and binging

Have you thought of trying a different ad
I am not saying come off the wellbutrin but perhaps a different med will suit you
I found when I was on lexapro it have the very same effect I could exercise till I dropped or eat all day and the most I would fluctuate would be 2lb

I changed to cymbalta and can now lose weight - slowly but it comes off - but it also goes back on if I 'cheat' :))

dont give up but do consider some med changes with your doctor - they might just help

Hey Emily I love the idea of the stickers for work outs
I will definately pinch that idea

I do use stickers every time I ahieve one of my targets so I can see them building up

I think a massage is a great idea and will add that to my rewards for every time I get myself 10 stickers :)

I think I will first aim for 20 work outs a month

thank you so much every one I really am so inspired to do it this time and you have all helped so much

Kaja I love th emuffin top one
that goes on the list as of now

as for a waist that small I dont think it would be possible for me
if I can get mine back down to a 28 I will be happy

as for the jeans I get into a uk 10 if there is stretch in them
most of my clothes are a uk 10 or 12 depending on the shop but I would like to be more of the 10 than the 12

this is great as its given me more things to think about and put on my list

I would love to be able to learn to run - I do walk a lot with my dogs soemtimes up to 10 miles in a day but I have never tried running - perhaps I sould take them somewhere quite and try it :)

Weight Loss Tip Of The Day (Add Yours!) Jun 09 2007

my tips are

  • write everything down either here at cc or in a journal
  • read back to the good weeks and see what you did if you begin to feel disheartened
  • remember its a journey and sometimes we decided to take the scenic route - you will still get there
  • dont be afraid to try new things or new ways to cook them and new recipes
  • if you really dont like plain water try a slice of lemon or lime in it
  • take your time and enjoy the journey - hopefully it is one we will all make only once :)

Its fine to eat what you want sometimes
it could very well stop binges

two things I do that I find help
one for chocolate
I eat greens and black 70% organic dark chocolate
just three small squares is all I can eat as it is so rich
and I make some veg crisps
slice veg of choice eg parsnips potatoes carrots beetroot very thinly use a peeler

then rinse and dry
spray the plate of your microwave with frylight put on the slices of veg spray again then cook on full power for a couple of mins cook for one min at a time till done
keep a close eye on them and mix them up from time to time

much healthier for you than the fat soaked ones you buy and tastier too
uses spices to flavour

Yes it could easily be the result of your time of the month

when I lost weight before I would quite often put on some weight at that time and then lose it again the week after

it you log your weight on here you will see a trend line and that will show you what is happening over a given period of time

my weight is static at the moment hoping that it is due to the same thing :)

I will add myself to this list - I seem to keep playing around with 10lbs or so

I am going to stop focusing on the weight and use my body fat % as more of a guide and of course my clothes - just for the next month and see if I can get rid of the 10lb or some of it

Thank you everyone for sharing with me

I made some non weght targets because I seem to get some weight off then go off track and find it all again
its like playing catch - I get rid of it and it comes back

I am so fed up with this that I am hoping that the non weight things will work better for me at this stage of m weight loss
The Lounge Ideas for a puppy name..... Jun 06 2007

I have three dogs and each one has a name that is meaningful for them
Saffron (called Saffie) due to the yellowy orange shine in her coat when in the sun
Digby because he looks like a gentleman in his tux
and Malika (meaning princess in an African language) because she has THE most perfect eyeliner just like Cleopatra

wait until you see the dog then make up your mind

the important thing is you enjoy being with each other and have fun :)
