thanks for all your answers, I understand moderation is the key but moderation is pretty hard. I guess I'll just have to stay focused so my clothes (newly bought after these last 2 months weight loss :D) will still fit after all the eating & celebrating are done :P

Young Calorie Counters Exam time & stress induced eating! Apr 15 2008

studying, stress and eating go hand in hand in my case too... especially when I have so much work that I feel overwhelmed, freak out and start eating compulsively, maybe even without feeling hungry (I guess I've always made a connection between taking a break and having a snack).

so here are some things I try to do when studying:

1. chew gum - keeps the mouth busy

2. eat your meals at pre-set times (otherwise one exception will lead to another) - and make sure you're satisfied when you leave the table

3. avoid snacking - you'll be tempted to snack while studying, you won't realise if you're full or not when eating and most of all (at least in my case) if I start eating carb-based snacks (sugary stuff, to be more precise) - chances are I won't stop too soon. if you really need a snack fresh fruit's the best.

and you could also try some vitamin c to give you some additional calorie-free energy.

hope this help

wow! I sorry I haven't replied sooner, I didnt know I got so many responses :) I am going to london, paris and amsterdam......all the basics and where they are stick figures lol :) Thanks for all the support! This site has been my new obsession :)

no they aren't, I live in europe and I'd say 2 in 3 adults (kids have escaped so far, I guess they don't eat as much junk food as the ones in the usa do) are overweight here too

anyway I hope you'll have a great time in your vacation!

I'm 19 years old, 5'10.5'' and 146 lbs (I used to be 132 lbs before college). Well I used to party and drink more when I was in highschool than now, I guess I've gained because I don't get enough sleep and eat stupid things (back home I always had home cooked meals, tons of fruits and water... here I don't seem to care so much and eat junk all the time).

You can still party and lose weight and that's too not hard.  When you go somewhere just eat more healthy (and preferably less) during that day, when you get there don't touch the chips, cookies or whatever cuz that will only make you lose control. And if you want to get a buzz, having eaten less that day will help you get dizzy after less drinks than usual. And dance as much as you can! :)

That's about all I can think of right now. Hope it helps

Weight Loss 6 feet tall ladies out there! Let's talk!!! May 30 2007

I'm 5'11'' and 67 kg (hopefully I'm converting it right: 147 lbs). I was about 60-61 last year and still had some extra fat I could have spared (in fact, that's how I got to 147, I wanted to lose some extra weight and entered a stupid cycle of starving/bingeing which actually made me gain). The problem with my body is that I have absolutely no muscle (yup I'm sedentary.. and SOOO lazy!), just fat.. I'm fluffy :D
I'm a size 8/10 and I just don't understand how you can wear a size 6 at 160+.. I can't find clothes long enough (pants or sleeves) and I hate shopping for shoes since I'm a size 9 and never find something that I'll like. It's hard to be tall!

I've always thought Kanye West's "Workout Plan" is a great song to work out to. It's funny and keeps you moving :D You should try it (especially if you're into hip hop)

Motivation How to stop boredom cravings? May 18 2007

Yeah I really know what you mean.. I used to have the exact problem and it didn't end too well... binges, low self esteem... the same state of mind and habits a bulimic person has (I'm ashamed of what I've done, but I'm changing and hopefully I'm gonna make it!).

Anyway, you should always try to think twice before eating not the first cookie, but the second - I think that's when you really lose control. And try substituting for something that'll calm down your taste buds: grepefruit, green tea (no sugar), an apple or two - if you really want it, the cravings will eventually go away. Stay strong and good luck!

Btw, this is my first post here on CC :)
