QOW: I don't stick to any kind of schedule, I just run when I feel like it. Usually it ends up being in the morning, unless I work, then I rarely end up running. Its a good thing I don't work very often. :) I'm trying to run the same amount of miles in a week now, I never kept track before. But that's about as structured as I get.

I went up to my parents this past weekend, and ran outside for the first time in a long time. It felt good! I ran 4 miles in 43:30, which is a lot faster than I go on a treadmill. It felt like it went by alot faster too, with so many different things to look at.

But other than that run, I haven't been keeping up with any of my CC stuff. It was my sister's graduation, and with parties and all.... I may have overloaded on sweets and sitting! :) I'm hoping to get back on track this week.

Try Kashi Go Lean! Crunch... It tastes good, and it definetly kept me satisfied for much longer than anything else that I have time to eat in the morning.

I find it helpful to go to you "Account Home" page. It shows you the current days calories burned and calories eaten. You want to keep you calories burned about 500-100 calories over your calories eaten.

Yes, you need to "eat back" the calories you burned. I like to think of it as a *bonus*, because then I can eat more!

*You don't want to go under 1200 calories a day, or you body will start to store calories as fat, as it feels that it is in starvation mode.

Hello! I am new to CC, but I love it so far. There are so many people with great ideas! As for running...

I like to think I'm a runner. I ran cross country from 7th grade through 12th grade, which I loved. I think it was sort of a social thing though, I was never very good. I ran a 5k in about 30 minutes, give or take 2 or 3 minutes all through high school. After that, my running kinda fizzled out for awhile. Then I "trained" for Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in June of 2004. I think the longest I ran in trainging was about 9 miles. I did finish though! I am very proud of that fact. And it was even under the 6 hour limit! I think my official time was about 5:45 or so. Then I fizzled out again on my running and all exercise and gained 30 pounds. But I've decided that I've had it with being so out-of-shape, and I've started running again. Unfortunately, I live in the city, so there aren't many options for outdoor runs. I run on a treadmill, probably 4-6 times a week, for about 30-45 minutes. I get bored with that, so I want to try to work in some cross training. I'm scared of all the machines though... :)

My goals are:

-start upping my distance to 4 or 5 miles in 40-50 minutes

-run at least one 5k race this summer

-run Grandma's Marathon again in June of 2008

When you think you can't go any farther, GO FARTHER!

Hello all!

I am new to all of this. I had never had a problem with my weight until about a year ago... Then suddenly I had gained 30 pounds, and here I am. Now I'm going to try to go in reverse and lose the 30 pounds as quickly as I gained it! Easier said than done... But one of the things that surprised me most was how much I can eat! Especially if I am eating fruits and vegetables, and not using dips and sauces as much. I thought dieting meant being hungry all the time, but I have yet to feel hungry. I try to keep about 500 calories difference between my intake and output, and it seems to be working. I have lost about 5 pounds (I think, my scale is not very accurate) in a little over a week. The hardest part is keeping active, but with any luck that will get easier with time.

Have a great day!
