You can use lettuce as wraps..they are good.
Or ditch the bread and have different carbs like corn or sweet potatoes, it's a good mixup.
I'm in the same boat. It's freeing to ditch the two pieces of bread outside your sandwich and eat it on top of something else, like salad or grilled vegetables.
Try it<3

Oh GOSH yesterday sticks out in my mind!
We celebrated memorial day at my grandparents, and I had BREAKFAST knowing I'd be eating a lot later (this would never happen in my ED). Once we got to my grandparents, I had watermelon before lunch, then ate a veggie burger on a bun with baked beans all over it (my favorite), HOMEMADE macaroni and potato salad (more mayo than my liking but whatever, it's my grandma), and salad. Then I had my grandma's banana cream pie. I asked her how she made it (only out of pure curiousity that it comes out perfect everytime and she's made it for years..I want this recipe!) I kept taking bites as she described the ingredients as a store bought crust, bananas, sugar, butter, egg yolks, etc. I only enjoyed it more as she described it. I could have NEVER done this a few months ago. My Grandpa started crying saying I look so good (which comments like these don't freak me out anymore, I appreciate them!) and was so happy that I am moving forward in my life.
Last night, I felt a little hungry so I had some popcorn, goldfish, and soy crisps. At past holidays, I'd starve all day, eat small-small portions of what I brought, get home at about 6, and starve myself/exercise until about midnight . Ridiculous...I realize I have to listen to my body now. If my tummy growls, I NEED TO EAT! My food has digested normally and is ready for more.
Now I'm planning a big day at the mall and am about to have a good filling egg wrap with veggies, cheese, and alfalfa sprouts.

For those who aren't in recovery and just lurking, PLEASE PLEASE PELASE go to treatment...LIVE your life. You're doing youself and every one else a favor, you're worth it<3

Foods cereal Apr 18 2008
04:49 (UTC)

I cannot bring cereal into the house.
It used to be my favorite food, but my drunken binging has caused me to have a love/hate relationship. I haven't found ANYTHING that tastes better than cereal when I'm drunk..or sober for that matter haha crunchy, milky, chewy, flavorful textures MMMMmmMmmmmMmm
I ate an entire box of special k chocolately delight cereal the other night with chocolate soy milk..things just taste so much better intoxicated Surprised

But before that, I'd make bowls and bowls of Kashi GoLean Crunch with vanilla soymilk and maple syrup drizzled all over it.

::DROOOOOOL::

I actually was going to request that my mom buy it, but I stopped myself for safety of my digestion : /

Haha it is deeelish.

Well, right now we don't have many breakfast items at my house. NO FRUIT WHATSOEVER EITHER! I'm so upset..but today I had 3 graham crackers and a light and fit yogurt, mainly because I was freaking out that I had ACTUALLY packed myself mac and cheese for lunch..but I was just really hungry.
The other morning I had Dannon Coffee flavored yogurt (150 kcals).
Breakfast foods in my house are:
-Ego nutrigrain waffles
-Jumbo eggs
-Whipped cottage cheese
-Oatmeal
-Special k & milk (doesn't keep me full for long)
-PB and wheat bread

I guess these could all be pretty filling...
Would oatmeal and whipped cottage cheese be good together? The whipped cottage cheese tastes kind of like ricotta cheese. Hmmm...
I just think its so triggering when I see people on here are like "I had only egg whites and vegetables for breakfast"..and then I have to stare at my waffles and peanut butter and wonder which would  choice make me feel less like a lard a$$ : (

Hahaha that's so funny..my sister and I stole and ate a whole bag of my room mate's chocolate covered pretzels, and I had to walk across campus and buy another bag before she could notice...thank god they had them!
Also, whenever I was drunk, I'd go back to my dorm room  and go CRAZY on my room mate's food...even sometimes when she was sleeping about 2 feet away from me! My suite once swung open my door and caught me with my face covered in peanut butter, eating it straight out of the jar : ( And this was when I was severely anorexic too..talk about humiliating...

I get that way when I'm drunk!!!
The other night I ate an ENTIRE BOX of special k chocolately delight cereal.
Then 2 nights ago, I ate 2 yogurts and A POUND of granola...eek. I still don't want to think about it.
I recently bought Slim-a-bear ice cream sandwiches..they're 98% fat free, 100 calories. I'm still getting used to the idea of having sweets and deserts, so these feel safe and they're REALLY yummy. You can really have one like everyday and not deprive yourself of foods you really want and you won't feel out of control/depressed.

ALSO, there's a voice that says WHO CARES?! LIFE IS SHORT! EAT CHOCOLATE WHILE YOU CAN!!!

Either way...eat up girl<3

omg I just freaked out and had to check your account, i thought you were my sister! she takes 100 mg of seroquel before bed, and BINGES like crazy. I mean I have gone to her room in the morning and found remains of sandwiches, boxes of cereal, a jar of peanut butter on her dresser, wrappers...she just goes crazy. She says an insatiable hunger and she just can't stop eating..but then she sleeps until about 3 pm, wakes up, then a few hours later eats a normal dinner, then the cycle starts all over again! She is working to get off of her medication now because she HATES binging at night. Don't worry...it'll pass!

My FAVORITE salad of all time is using Fantastic Food's Instant Taco Filling as my protein. I get saute spinach, broccoli, red peppers, corn, and carrots with non-stick cooking spray and garlic, and toss that with 1/2 cup taco filling on a bed of romaine lettuce and fresh tomatos. I like to crisp it up with some crunched up tortilla chips and add some shredded cheese on top (which will add more protein). It's a real taco-salad treat..tastes like the real thing but with lots of less calories.

Trader Joe's also has beef-LESS and chicken-LESS strips, they are deliciously seasoned and packed with protein!. I usually made a salad with those and as many vegetables as you can think of.

Cottage cheese on salad is also really good on salad, and you can even skip on the dressing : )

Fidget, I KNOW I have to gain weight, and who said anything about weight loss??? I did a BMR and it said for my height and age I need 1200 calories..I guess it was wrong. Don't get mad and think I'm expecting a pity party. I just wasn't sure if I needed to eat 3500 calories if I'm used to eating less than 1000.
Just curious. Weight gain is scary, obsessive, and  confusing.

I can TOTALLY relate in a number of ways.
I'm going on 6 years vegetarian and have been in recovery for anorexia for about 3 months. I'm also doing great at home because I can control what I put into my food, measure it out, and not have to worry about people looking at my plate and judging what I feel like eating that day.
Going out can be scary! You're leaving your comfort zone and letting some stranger cook your meal, and meanwhile, you have to eat with people! But honey, going out to eat IS normal eating. No one expects you to get a giant cheesy pasta alfredo and gobble down the whole thing. Stick to something you are comfortable with and won't flip out about, but also take this as a challenge..a challenge to Ed. Try not to freak yourself out with the thoughts..they will make things way worse. The portions at restaurants are pretty big, so it's totally fine to eat a portion of it and take the rest home..or if you need to get a salad, that's alright too! Just remember, it's a celebration! Have some cake, even if it's little, you deserve it!
Does the restaurant have an online menu? Maybe you can pick something out so you're not sitting there agonizing over choices.
I'm also waiting for my friend to call so we can go eat dinner at her Grandma's...I can only IMAGINE what she's cooking..but I know it's not the end of the world, I won't blow up, and I can still eat healthy, controlled portions without hurting anyones feelings.
Good luck! Make sure you tell me how it went!

I love how supportive everyone is.
I just had a counseling session today and told her all about my fiasco last night.
From December to January, I was in inpatient for my disorder and then attended 2 months of Partial Hospital Program. Starting on April 1st, I'm going to meet with a real doctor and dietitian who are going to help me from there. I told my therapist I drink because I want to feel normal, but this is obviously no escape. I'll just add it to my list of why I want to get better.
Thank-you everyone for helping<333

I'm coming to terms with my drunken binges. I need your help, guys!
Okay so yesterday I ate:
Breakfast: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 heaping tablespoon of yogurt, and an apple.
Lunch: 2 slices whole wheat bread, 1/2 can tuna, about a teaspoon of light mayo.
Snack: some jelly beans and candy corn.
Dinner: 1 cup Progresso soup

Then that night I drank a 40 oz of Bud Light and a mixed drink with cranberry juice.

I felt okay, like I wasn't going to have a drunken binge, but once I got home, it just HIT me. I ate about 1.5 cups of milk, a couple handfuls of cereal, maybe a cup of cottage cheese, a banana, the REST of my jelly beans, candy corn (about 1 cup), 2 pieces of chocolate, a little slice of cream pie, and like 2.5 protein bars...ODD..I know.
But then I got up and made myself throw up. I felt terrible. I can't remember if I mostly threw up beer or what.
This morning I weighed myself and it says I'm still 103 pounds (5'4). I'm not hungry. I know I still have to gain weight...but for people that know about eating disorders, waking up and realizing you ate a bunch of food while you were drunk is just about the same as waking up after a night of drinking naked in a public park.
I do this all the time: get drunk, binge, wake up, starve all day, and speed walk on the treadmill for 30 mins to an hour. This HAS to be hurting my body. I just don't know what to do with myself today. So far I speedwalked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and had a cup of coffee.
Am I going to gain weight from all this? What do I eat today? What help does drinking lots of water do?
PLEASE HELP!!!

oh god girl,  me too. my meal plan is RIDICULOUS and A LOT of people have trouble with thoughts of gaining weight, including myself, and have similar fears that we can't stop eating. It's hard to trust your body's hunger because you've ignored it for so long and forgot what feeling hungry/full feels like. I've heard that once you start following a regular meal plan and your body reaches its set-point weight that the obsessions about food will stop. Just know that YOU are in control and don't be scared!!!
