jackie - You should get an apple cutter - http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?o rder_num=-1&SKU=14463232 It's one of the best inventions EVERRRR! lol You can definitely find it cheaper at Walmart or Target, the link is just to show what it is. Happy, Healthy Eating! |

| LOL That's so funny you mention the postage scale, I did that last week with a giant cupcake (*AHEM* 6oz!!!).
Then proceeded to tell everyone in the office to EAT THEM ALL so there are none left for me!!! Thankfully the only comments I get are "You're so good!" or "Man, I should do that..." when they see me take out my salad or turkey sandwich stuff from the fridge (thankfully we have a small office so I can keep lots of ingredients on hand to make lunch with!) |

| janrose2 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptical_train er
amarynth - I've had a similar situation in the past --- When I use the elliptical on a regular basis, I develop a pain that starts at my inner/back thigh - few inches from the side/back of the crotch (lol sorry!), and it shoots down my leg to my knee. I thought maybe I was doing the motion wrong (no), then I thought maybe there was a muscle imbalance, maybe I needed to strengthen my quads (tried it, didn't help), I stretched (even MORE painful!). I've just come to the conclusion that I just can't do the elliptical, so now I do the bike or sometimes the treadmill if my knee feels up to it. Good luck!!!! |

| Spencer's Gifts actually sells the "Electra Pole" (or some name like that), Carmen Electra is on the box (go figure! lol) --- it's like $120 and it SAYS it's for beginners up to experts...which one would assume means you can go upside down on it....I think I'll still stick with Xpole though, that's who I hear is the best. | |||

| I also breathe out ALL the air in my lungs, squeeeeeze those abs to get it all out (I usually twist/bend to the side too lol), then take a nice big breath, blow it all out again, do it a few times and it gets rid of my side cramps like a charm. | |||

| Well, as an avid Ebayer ---- It did always bug me that Sellers would "hold feedback hostage" until after I gave them positive feedback.
If I do my part as a buyer and get you your payment when I should, that means I deserve POSITIVE feedback right away. If the package doesn't come until a month later and I give NEUTRAL feedback, I don't deserve to get NEUTRAL feedback in response (just an example). I only scanned over an article on the subject so I might have misunderstood but does it say that sellers now can NOT EVER give negative feedback?? I don't agree with that. There are some deadbeat bidders out there... |

| sooji - LOL yeah it's fun....and nooo it's not KINKY haha, we just add ambiance to the club. I've been dancing for about three and a half years, and I'm not sure why they call it gogo dancing, maybe check it out here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go-Go_dancing lol
angeleigh - Haha that's funny! Actually my boyfriend lives in Shirley (DEFINITELY farther east) so I'm out there much more than I am at my own apartment (yeah, no fun driving back there after working at night!!). I hope you're moving sometime AFTER the snow melts! I don't know about MN, but I know WI is getting hit like crazy with snow!! Good luck though :) It's certainly cheaper to live there than here!!!! |

| I'm 22 and have been dating a guy 14 years older than me for almost 4 years. I'm more mature for my age, and he's young at heart --- we meet right in the middle :) Our views on the important things like money and children and how we live our lives are exactly the same, we're a perfect match *swoon*
If you love a guy and you're a great couple, age is only a number. My only concern is the "starting a family" part...always remember that YOU and YOUR goals come first, and he should understand that. |

| I wore my HRM while gogo dancing once, and I burned 150 in 20 minutes, so 450 for an hour, but it would be hard to keep up that much dancing for an entire hour, so I imagine social/club dancing would be somewhat less. | |||
| Fitness | help with crunches!! | Feb 20 2008 14:19 (UTC) |
|
| But you can do different exercises to build up different muscles, and if she's doing crunches the wrong way, it would cause the muscles to build according to that...wouldn't it?
I'm not an expert, but I know there are two ways that I can contract my stomach during crunches, and one of those ways is how I described before, where the muscles "stick out" and it's really unattractive. I don't know personally, though, if the muscles in turn will come out that way once they're built up... Regardless, make sure to pull the belly in when you crunch. |

| Fitness | help with crunches!! | Feb 19 2008 19:44 (UTC) |

| I know what you're talking about ----
Make sure you pull your belly button into your spine when you work your abs. When you do crunches/situps, look down at your stomach, it shouldn't be concaved on the sides and a big hill in the middle (lol..) make sense? I'm sure if you start doing them the right way any part that "sticks out" should eventually go away since you're not exercising the way that made them like that anymore. |

| Fitness | "easy" gym days | Feb 08 2008 21:40 (UTC) |
|
| Maybe on your easy days you could do the bike?? I can't use the elliptical either (gives me some weird hamstring pain) --- and right now I can't do the treadmill too much because I don't want to bug my knee, so I use the stationary bikes for cardio. I actually really like it. It keeps my heartrate in my target zone, but it's also not as intense as running/jogging would be.
On a regular day I do 20 miles, which comes out to around 65-70 minutes at my pace, about 630 calories (5'7 / 127lbs), and a few buckets of sweat :-D |

| Fitness | Stretching for Flexibility | Feb 07 2008 22:31 (UTC) |

| I don't know how flexible Bruce-Lee-flexible is, but I can tell you what I (dancer/aerialist) do. Hold each stretch for 30 seconds. I'll do my best to find pictures...And of course the usual disclaimer of don't do anything to hurt yourself, don't push a stretch if you can't do it, so on and so forth.
I stretch after doing my cardio on the bike, so my muscles are all warmed up. First some nice quad/hamstring stretches... http://content.answers.com/main/content/img/o xford/Oxford_Food_Fitness/0198631472.quad-str etch.1.jpg and http://hillarysyogapractice.files.wordpress.c om/2007/06/utthandsclsp.jpg (Then from this one I go into a squat with my legs wide, elbows on knees and push out with elbows) Hips (which are pretty tight after all the biking) -- but I do it sitting up with the leg that's not stretching on the ground: http://media.wiley.com/assets/2/85/fg0-7645-5 146-9_0421.jpg Then I go into a straddle http://www.physicallytrained.com/fm21-20/phys ical-fitness-training/images/FLEX-groin-stret ch-seated-straddle.PNG In the straddle, lean to both sides as shown, try to get your nose to your knee (or nose to floor...). Then-- it doesn't show this -- but then reach over the top with your left arm to your right leg/foot...try to get your ear to your knee (or ear to floor...lol). With every stretch I do in this straddle position, I try to widen my straddle even further than what it was when I first sat into it. Then prepare for splits Lunge forward, focus on stretching your hip flexors http://www.herculesacademy.com/jpg/stretching 15.jpg And back (nose to your knee if you can)... http://z.about.com/d/exercise/1/0/g/b/kneelin ghamstring.jpg And repeat those two a few times before trying the full split ---- if you don't have your full splits already, the most important thing here is to keep your legs straight!!! Even if you're two feet from the ground, you can bend at your hips to hold yourself up with your arms, but keep those legs straight!!! Then I work my back: http://www.vancouveryoga.com/assets/photos/ba ckbend_fiona.jpg http://www.bbc.co.uk/northyorkshire/content/i mages/2006/04/05/sun_salutation_three_400x300 .jpg That's my basic routine...good luck! |

| I go to Lucille Roberts. I paid $299 for 18 months. They always have specials going on though--- right now if you sign up with a friend it's $13 a month with a 2 year commitment. The start up fee ranges depending on what special they're promoting...mine was $5, but it can be as much as $40. www.lucilleroberts.com always has what special they're running Edit: Sorry I just realized they're only in NY, NJ and Pennsylvania, but it's still good to compare and might be helpful for someone else. Good luck! |

| Fitness | "easy" gym days | Feb 07 2008 18:17 (UTC) |

| I try to alternate days when I do abs or stretching --- so I like to think of my stretching days as "easy days" (stretching = splits, oversplits, backbends, etc)
Though I do typically have the same amount of calories I try to burn every day (tracked by my HRM). |

| Fitness | lower ab/oblique exercises!?!? | Feb 06 2008 18:30 (UTC) |

| These, but I sit the other way (so the longer sides of the bench are to my right/left), and I balance my butt at the edge, this not only gives me a greater range of motion with my legs if I want to make them more straight, but also uses other muscles to keep me balanced. I also will do this while balancing on my right/left sides so I work the obliques: http://www.shapefit.com/abs-exercises-flat-be nch-leg-pull-in s.html
I love this one: http://www.shapefit.com/abs-exercises-inverte d-exercise-ball -leg-pull-ins.html Captains Chair is also good too. The move I do most of the time is laying on my back, hands (or folded towel) under your butt to support the tailbone. One leg is out straight parallel to and hoovering over the ground, and with the other you bring your knee to your chest, then alternate legs, focusing on pulling the bellybutton into the spine. Another way I do this is to not put hands/towel under your butt, but bring your shoulders off the ground and holding it there (working upper abs too) while you do the leg work. Wow! I just found this one..I can't wait to try the "Intense" exercise listed here: http://www.bestabs.com/Resources/Exercises/Re gionDetails.aspx?region=2 |

| Fitness | Do you judge people exercising? | Feb 06 2008 17:36 (UTC) |
36 |
| I always think "Good for you!" when I see people exercising outside.
I judge the swarms of New Year Resolutioners --- if you were really serious about getting in shape, it shouldn't take "Ok it's the new year!" for you to do it. Plus, you'll be gone in a month anyway so get off of my bike! lol I judge the women (I'm at an all women's gym) who lift WAY under their ability. If you're not actually working your muscles, why bother? I judge women who use the machines the wrong way. I judge women who chit chat while they're on/"using" equipment, but aren't actually USING it (ex: weights in hands, rested on their lap...sitting on a bench...talking) When I take a class (usually Kickboxing), I'll judge people if they're punching or kicking the wrong way (the instructor even has wimpy punches!) I don't care if people are overweight, normal weight, or what might appear to be undeweight. I judge when people half-a$$ (can I say that? I don't know) it at the gym, if you're putting in the time, make it count!! Don't just do it so you can say "I go to the gym" I know that I'M judged for sweating too much....I know of one person specifically who fits most of what I just said, so I really can't say I'm offended! lol |

| If my boyfriend wakes me up with his snoring usually if I just rub his arm or whatever is easily reachable (rub his leg with my foot when I don't want to move!) and that usually shuts him up for a few moments, enough for me to get back to sleep.
And of course if he's on his back I'll nudge him over onto his side which usually helps...though not always...bleh! |

| The Lounge | 'hun' | Feb 01 2008 17:29 (UTC) |

| I feel like it depends on who it's coming from....
For example, I don't mind the old Italian guys at the pizzeria saying "Ey beautiful, what can I get ya?" ---- But the financial planner for my job who gives me elevator eyes and this look that says "Ohh the things I would do to you!" and who has the most disgusting accent (sounds like he came out of a South Park episode) ---- I want to puke every time he calls because he'll say "sweethawt" "honey" "baby" Ugh! I would also be annoyed if a woman younger than me called me "hun" or "honey" But anyone with a southern accent can get away with any of these. lol My friends and I always call each other "Hot mama" "Foxy lady" "Babe" and those type of things...And ma'am doesn't bother me. |
