I started this healthy eating/ exercising lifestyle because I wanted to avoid going on medications and having a breast reduction surgery. Try to eat well and try exercising prior to getting surgery. Once you lose weight you breast will reduce as well. I started off walking, then went to walking at an incline - then to the elliptical. I started trying to run with walking and wore Ace Bandages at first because I couldn't find a sports bra that would actually work for me. I have graduated to wearing two bras and now I can run a mile at a time. It has been a little over 7 months for me and although it is slow - it is doable. I went from 48 inch chest to 40 and from a F cup to size DDD - almost DD now. |

I like that he was able to do this with "off the shelf" items. It brought to mind that perhaps some grease monkey idiot savant 18 year olds will be attaching one to their hot rods. lol Great strides for space exploration. |

Walked into a bar once and this guy ask me "Do you want to dance?" I said "Sure" and he sat back down on his stool pointed to the dance floor and said, "go ahead". It was so funny that I would have talked to him but he wasn't trying to pick me up, just have some fun with me.
Edited to add: I wonder to this day what he would have said if I would have said, "No". |

Hi Bethevan, My cousin was in eigth grade and did the exact same thing. He fell the 8th grade. My aunt was beside herself. Then he went on to finish highschool and earn a scholarship. He later told my aunt, "I took the year off". She jokingly says, "I wish he would have told me that was what he was doing at the time". My nephew was the same way and my sister finally threw up her hands and put him in charge of his situation. She told him, it is now in your hands - see if you can manage yourself any better than I. He did a complete turnaround. I think the "challenge" was to show his Mom that he could play videos and still make good grades. He is now in college. Have him make suggestions on how he could improve. Have him come up with the plan and let him execute that plan. |

Lolo, I wish I could run that long. I can run for "five minutes" then I have to stop and walk then run for maybe 3 minutes and stop etc. I only do it for about 20 to 25 minutes though. I have to run on an incline because I get side stitches from running. If we were in the wild in Africa, I am sure I would be the one the lions or cheetahs targeted. ha! I am doing better though, I use to struggle when I ran for 30 seconds! So 8 months makes a big difference.

Individual actions annoy me - not groups. Noell31 - you are so funny! I loved your post and it is true. My friends mother came from Honduras and she did it legally and made sure all of her children learned English as their first language and she earned a degree and his children are prosperous. I think that is the major difference - she didn't come here to work and send money home to Honduras, she came here to make a better life for herself and be a contributing member of the USA's society.

I think you did fine. I like the karma thing also. I was rear-ended several times within the matter of a couple of months. I wasn't hurt so I just got out of the car exchanged information and we went on our ways. Fast forward several months later and I rear-ended two different people and one pregnant! Neither was hurt and they took my information and went on their way. When you are hurt due to someone elses gross negligence which it seems is the case here I don't see why anyone would object to them paying compensation. It is idiots that do stupid things like ride four wheelers up very steep hills just to see if they can "make it" and then fall off and sue that get me. |

Thank you! I have painted my nieces and nephew but, I painted them in a way so I could shadow all the faces or had the faces averted from view. They were picking apples so it was easy to hide them. The thing is, I can't paint faces - I think because my drawing skills are somewhat lacking. People think that is strange that "you can paint but you can't draw", but I find it easier to use color to make shapes instead of lines and yet I haven't been able to relate that to portraits. Go figure.

Hi All, Pam, I was diagnosed with FM and all I had to do was change my diet - I was lucky. My friend was diagnosed and she found that she was also allergic to certain foods. Some researchers are saying they found a link between FM and yeast. My friend uses a yeast free diet and when she is on it she is completely better but, it is a hard diet for her to maintain. You can eat all the fruit and veggies you want along with meats, but no canned foods, breads or foods containing any amount of yeast. Needless to say, she doesn't stick to it very well and suffers a lot. There are some threads in the Health section on here about FM. Also, about Joels "word" and forgiveness. I was listening to a Christian broacast the other day and the pastor was talking about "Honoring Thy Mother and Father". He was saying to write a letter thanking your mother and father for what they did right. I was moved during the sermon but when I sat to compose the letter, my heart turned to stone. I didn't feel good about it because I kept thinking of the negative. It is really sad because I thought I had let go of all of that and forgiven them for some abuse yet, maybe I haven't. I am working on that. Oh, I dropped off Hannah today for her first day of the two year old Mothers Day Out program and it is always so heartbreaking. She cried> |

Hi All, Kimbe, I am glad you are here to welcome Shellie because I never remember where everything is. I thing the red carpet is in the closet? Pam, I had to read and re-read and re-read the post to get the "splurred seech" I think that is an example of peoples minds correcting the spelling or sight correction or what ever it is called. Funny story though. Dances - great flip as always. |

I can relate to "ADIFTIME". I was so skinny that my father's "term of endearment" for me was Wormy. Then some sob in gym glass gave me the name "Milk Bone Dog Biscuits". Some other gems - Spagetti Leggs, Bones, Bony Maroni, Stick Drawn, BOAS (Boobs on a stick.) When overweight, in new orleans with friends we were all getting off the elevator and some guys were out side and were saying "hottie, hottie, hottie" as my friends got off, then they said "nottie" when I got off. It was pretty funny but hurtful. |

I think you are right in that it is harder for people who have always been beautiful to "age ungracefully" or lose their looks. Their looks have been a part of them and a part of their life. I agree some of the posters stating that beauty is an attitude. My sister has been overweight since the age of eleven and yet she has always been told she is beautiful and was even on the prom court of her high school - it is all about how you carry yourself sometimes. I think all children are beautiful so it is hard to look at them and not say, "you are so pretty" or "you are sooo handsome". I can't imagine your parents not saying it to you. |

| I am not "doing" stats anymore. I am focusing on losing 10 lbs and by gosh I am going to do it! I have hung on this month by a thread even while participating in the challenges. I have chalked August up to a loss. I did lose perhaps 1/2 inch in my waist and maybe 1/2 pound. But I am going to focus focus focus in September! | |||
| The Lounge | Do people discriminate against heavy people? | Sep 03 2007 17:11 (UTC) |

This is interesting as I never really thought about men being treated differently due to weight. I can testify to women, because I am one who has been extremely thin and then overweight in the workforce. I was treated differently when I was thin and yet the men seemed to be able to gain weight and were treated the same if not better. I think some of it has to do with attitude of the person and looks as well. I am not very attractive when I am overweight because I don't carry weight in my face well. My sister on the other hand is beautiful and is severly overweight. She is treated very well by both men and women. I have to say that women are nicer to me when I am heavy - less competition I guess? |

| I found a pair of "Outlaw" Jeans at a little boutique in a one light town - I don't know if they were some off-brand or what. They are the only ones I have ever found and yet they make my butt look unbelievable. They have been folded away for a little over 5 years. I can't wait until I can get back into those - and I hope my butt looks great again! | |||

Wow, I hope she is locked up for a long time. I wouldn't feel comfortable living in the area now. She is probably going to be out for revenge. Next time, don't stop your car for any reason with that *****. Just drive to the nearest police station (let her follow you if she will) and report the offense. Good Luck! PS> If I had stopped the car, and this happened, I probably would have hit her too! I use to be a bit of a hot head but, now that I have to think of my children and how horrbile it would be for them to see Mommy go to jail, I take a different approach than in the past. You are so right in that some people see this as a form of weakness. However, they don't understand that you may have more to lose than they do - a house and home for your children for instance if they choose to sue you. |
