Here's the thing.  I didn't ask for advise on why or how to do a non profit.  All I wanted was some creative ideas for a name.

My dogs eat everything I do and more.  I feed them a raw diet including pork which doesnt bother them at all.

In fact my Rottweiler Allie hasn't had store bought kibble since she was 3 months old (4 yrs old now) and I have a new puppy Oliver (Rottweiler/Newfoundland mix) that will never eat kibble.

My oldest dog Joey (12 yr old Schnauzer/Dashound mix) absolutly loves green beans.  He even picks them off the vines in the garden.

I used to have a light in the middle of my ceiling that turned on with a string and I had posters taped all the way down the string.  I also had all my walls covered with them.

I love both, but prefer hamsters.  You can put them on the top shelf of you bookcase and only have to deal with them once per week.  Awesome pets!!!

Thanks Moody!  I was almost done with my last brew.

OK question for all.  Do you call it a 12 pack of beer or 12 box of beer?  Here in Way Northern MN we call it a 12 box or just a box of beer.

Don't you recall Bob & Doug Mckenzie?  (of SCTV Fame) 12 beer is a case. 24 beer is a two four.

I totally forgot about that!  Way tooooo funny! Laughing

thats funny!  Most people I know call it pop   I call it soda.  i dont know why  I just started to one day and it stuck.

My sisters and I do the MN talk at each other with as outrageous accents as we can.  We do it just to annoy each other.

We also found out that people around here tend to add "you know" at the end of almost every sentence...you know?  bwhahahahaha

It gets kinda annoying!  LOL

I am glad I have guns because I want them...not because I am scared of being attacked.  I have a Rottweiler that eases that fear.

I have guns (mostly high power rifles) because I love to shoot (I have my own shooting range in my back yard) and love to hunt.

I think the gun argument is never going to go away.  Too many different attitudes.

I have a .308 winchester, .350 remington, .22 mag, 50 cal muzzleloader, 41 mag, and a 44 pistol.  My favorite is the .308, 2nd in line is the muzzleloader.

Shooting the muzzleloader is awesome.  After you squeeze off a round, you hear the bang, see the smoke, then a second later you hear the slug hit the target.  Everytime I shoot I giggle afterword because of how slow it is.

I watched my sisters 3 kids and my best friends 3 kids every day for 3 years.  Not once did any of the kids touch one of my guns.  They knew what would happen if they did.  Dire consequences.

In law school, we learned a formula, B=PxL.  In short, what it means is that one should consider not only the probability of loss (P) but the extent of the loss, if it did occur (L) and take appropriate precautions (B, or burden).  Thus, even if the probability of children touching a gun is slight, the extent of the loss is HUGE.  So, if there's a .01% chance of the child playing with a gun, but a loss of one hundred million (hard to put a child's life in terms of numbers, isn't it?) you should take precautions of 10,000.  That means AT LEAST locking up the guns, keeping them unloaded and the ammo in a separate location.

My children are well-behaved, and I believe that they would understand the importance of not touching a gun we had in the house (which we don't, in case you're brain dead and didn't figure that out Smile)  But the probability of loss is SO GREAT, in the event that they did touch the gun, that I choose to keep guns out of our house altogether.  I also refuse to allow them to play at friends' houses if the parents have firearms which are not properly locked away.

 Am I being ridiculous?

I grew up with guns and saw from early years the lovely holes they make.

I think all people should learn not to fear them, but also see the damage they can do.  I did show the kids the bullet holes and damage done to the deer I shoot.  And it really hit home when we shot a bear because when a bear is dressed out (gutted and skin removed) it looks human.

Anyway, I just googled statistics for childhood deaths they are listed below.  These are from the national MCH center for child death review.   I would be more worried about my kid being killed by a car then a gun.  Now then, with that said...I wouldnt let my kid play at anyones home that didnt properly supervise the kids.

When I did watch the kids sometimes I would leave a rifle laying on the kitchen table just to see what they would do.

Before anyone freaks....of course it was unloaded, fireing pin pulled, no ammo anywhere near.

everytime, the kids would come to me and say....Auntie please would you put the gun away because we are not allowed to touch it.

And I have to say  most intelligent people do not leave a loaded gun just laying around.

Who in our country gets to decide what is "useful" and what is not?

I think that's why we have lawmakers and laws.   Just because a particular item is available to us, doesn't mean it is good or should be readily available.  Bottom line is, the main purpose of guns is to kill.  Thus, their availability and use should be restricted.  The same logic applies to alcohol, cars, etc., which are restricted in their availability and use because they can be dangerous.  Guns, since they are far more dangerous than alcohol and cars, and have no useful purpose other than killing, should be restricted more.

ok, when does it stop then?  Fat kills more people than guns...are we going to make being fat illegal?  How about Cigarettes?   Cigarettes kill people.  Oh how about stupidity, lots of people die from stupidity  lets make that illegal.  We already restrict guns.  You have to be over 18 to buy, have to register said gun,and  have to pass a back ground check.  Practically have to have a note from your Mom.

Growing up in Northern Mn with 5 other siblings and a Dad that was major into hunting we had guns in a guncase in the living room.  the guncase had no doors and nothing was locked.

We were taught from day one the consequences to touching one of those guns and all 6 of us never did.  Wouldnt have even thought of touching one.  I myself have 6 guns  2 in the living room, one by the bed the others locked up.

I watched my sisters 3 kids and my best friends 3 kids every day for 3 years.  Not once did any of the kids touch one of my guns.  They knew what would happen if they did.  Dire consequences.

I cant figure out how the kid shot himself in the head, if you think about how a rifle is held, the only way he could have shot himself was to set the gun down on the floor, stock down...then how did he pull the trigger   with his toe?  or did he bend down and pull the trigger?

My husband and I tried that with one of our rifles (unloaded with bolt taken out) which is not exactly like an 8yr old because our arms are a lot longer and we couldnt do it.  Everytime we tried we ended up with the barrel either pointing at the ceiling or at the wall.

If this kid was at a shooting range and had his Dad and a qualified instructor standing next to him I dont understand how it could have happened.
