| Motivation | How to get out of bed in the AM for a workout??? | Mar 06 2009 18:09 (UTC) |

I can't work out in the a.m. either. I take my workout gear to work with me and change into it at the end of the day - then I go straight to the park to do my run. I don't go home 1st because if I did I know I would be lazy and not go back out. It's become a routine for me. I know that there are days, especially when first starting out, when you just don't want to, but that's when I would tell myself, "suck it up you p@#$y and do it" |

| Motivation | Bikinis-- How To Have The Guts to Wear Them? | Mar 06 2009 17:43 (UTC) |

WEAR IT!!! Be proud of yourself and most importantly be proud of your accomplishments.   ; I don't mind seeing anyone of any size wear a bikini. No matter what size I think - good for them - they like their body and don't care what other people think. Because it's not about other people, it's about you. And I agree with greenearthgirl - put it on at home, wear it around and get comfortable wearing it. That's what I do. |

theeners, I'm exactly the same. I lost 58lbs and have kept it off for about a year and a half and these past few weeks have been sooo bad for me. I'm doing the exact same thing as you. I'm binging when I get home from work. I know what you mean by being so absessed with weight that I've become fed up with it. Part of me thinks it's this really long winter being stuck inside all the time. I just started logging in here again about 2 weeks ago. I really need to get back on track to be ready for my sis wedding May 16th. I'm hoping the weather will get warm soon and that will motivate me to get back outside and running again. I need help getting back on track. |

Hey leighlee, I had the exact same goal weight as you. I started at 167 (5'2''). My biggest hurdle was 127lbs. I swear it felt like I was stuck there FOREVER!! It took a month and a half for that scale to move. But once it did - I got down to 118 in no time. You still have 2.5 months. Stick with it - don't give up. Those wedding pictures will be worth it. BTW - my sis is getting married that same day and I'm trying to maintain for it. |

| Motivation | Help! doughnuts! | Feb 26 2009 16:42 (UTC) |

My company used to have donut Fridays (they recently did away with it for budget reasons) If I was good all week long I would allow myself one donut, but I would eat it very slowly. Savor every bite kind of thing. By the time I got through with my donut, the rest were gone so there was no temptation for a second. I still allow myself the one treat per week rule if I've been good. |

I tried on my Bridemaid dress last night and it's still just a bit tight. I think I may need to only lose about 3 or 4 lbs and it should fit perfect. I have some time - my sis wedding is May 16th. On another note - my boyfriend comes home for his mid-tour leave the end of March so that is my motivation to stay on track. After that it's only 1.5 months to the wedding. |

Last year I did awesome and didn't buy any from the grocery store or the sheets that the parents brought into work, but a girl came to my door and she was handicapped in a wheelchair with her mom and I bought 2 boxes. There was no way I could turn her away. So this year I bought 1 box off of a sheet here at work, put them out for everyone to eat and I'm not answering my door. I've only had 2 servings since they've been sitting here and they are almost gone. I am determined to resist the last of them. |

| Motivation | How to deal with Men when you're skinny . . . | Feb 20 2009 13:27 (UTC) |

Cypris, I know exactly what you're talking about here. I was always on the heavy side, chubby, but never obese and lacking in the romance department. When I lost my weight, I was suddenly going on all kinds of dates. So here's the thing. A really good guy friend of mine told me what it was. He said my personality never changed, it was the way I held myself. When I was a little heavier I kind of held myself inward to try and hide the fat, but when I lost the weight and was proud of my body I held myself more outwardly or more open. He said this made me more approachable. When you're open like that and proud of yourself, guys take notice and think you'll be more open to them. We women think we're the only ones who notice these sort of things, but men can pick up on it too. I agree with the other posters. Enjoy yourself!! Date 'em all until you find the perfect one for you. CONGRATS on the great SUCCESS. |

Not quite sure I'm right for this, but I'm trying to maintain my weight for my sis wedding in May. I'm 5'2'' 109lbs. (about 2 years ago I weighed 167) I already had my dress altered so I can't stray. I'm also hoping my BF will propose this year. He gets back from Afghanistan in July. |

I'm going to grandma's tonight for dinner and everyone knows grandma's are known for their good home cooking. So I'm trying to be good throughout the day and take in a little less calories in anticipation of tonight's dinner (not sure what she's making). I'm bringing the salad and I made it with lots of different veggies, so I'm hoping to fill up on a lot of salad so I don't eat as much of the main dish. And of course, grandma likes to open a bottle of wine. We always have a good dinner dinner together and try to do it once every 2 weeks or so. |

that sounds too low to me as well. Maybe your goal date is too aggressive and if you push that date out a little further and try to lose the weight more slowly you can consume more calories. All you need is a calorie defecit and you'll lose the weight. I lost my weight slowly. The last thing you want is to be so hungry for a couple days that you fall off and give up trying to lose it. |

Hey all, I have to say what attracted me to this thread was swimchick. I was an NCAA swimmer in college and I love to swim, but can only do it in the summer because an indoor pool is too expensive to join. But like Justin I'm addicted to running as well and have a bit of a slower pace at 8:45 / mile. Right now, I'm trying to maintain at 108lbs (5'2'' 30yo). My sis wedding is in May and I've already had my dress altered so I can't gain weight (incentive). I've found maintaining in the winter to be really hard because I don't belong to a gym and the cold, snowy and icy weather prevents me from running outside. BTW - when I started trying to lose weight I was 167, when I started on CC I was 147. |

I resisted a slice of Chocolate Oreo Cake yesterday (over 500 calories a slice). It looked so good and would have been great with a tall glass of milk. So instead I had a small glass of 1% milk (100 calories). I'm pretty proud of myself for that one. |

Hey everyone, Just wondering if any of you guys are still out there. I know I've gone AWOL since September. I'm upset with myself for not keeping up on here, but on a positive note - I've been maintaining my weight - woo-hoo. I've been having a tough time lately because my exercise is extremely limited in January and February because the weather here in Cincy is so bad during these months. I don't have any home gym equipment and my company shut down it's fitness room so I can only workout outside. Not something I want to do when it's 6 below or icy out. My sis is getting married in May and I need to be able to fit into my bridesmaid dress. I guess I'm just looking for some motivation to stay on track and stay successful. |

oh my, moments of weakness, we've all been there and in my case still go there. Keep your head up - start the day fresh. Don't try to overcompensate, (which I know is hard) because if you do you may find yourself in another moment of weakness a bit too soon. What I do when I've been bad is try to increase my activity level. Sometimes that means walking to the other wing of the building to ask someone a question instead of calling, or not taking the elevator at all that day.(my friend works in a downtown highrise building and what she does is take 3 or 4 flights of stairs and then takes the elevator the rest of the way) Maybe even parking farther away. Remember, one bad day and six good days in a week = a good week!! Smile and keep your head up - it's not that bad. We luv ya and are here for you!!! I'm 5'2'' as well and am now in maintenance mode - so it can be done. |

| I'm not going to post my menus for the day - it's way boring.
I already ran 5 miles on the treadmill. I usually try to avoid the treadmill and run outside, but I am going to grandmothers tonight for dinner so I wont have time to run outside. Hopefully I wont over do it at dinner tonight and can keep a respectable calorie defecit. |

| I just wanted to share my running story. When my little sister got to my highschool she ran cross country; and the next year after tons and tons of nagging and reasoning convinced me to join the team. I was a senior and I was sooooo bad, but no one on the team ever cared. They were so nice and each and every one of my teammates would wait for me to get done with my runs every day - no one ever went home early. To them, it didn't matter how fast or how slow I was - I was still a runner. And that stuck with me. So 6 years ago after we were both out of college, guess who had to do the convincing to start running again. Yep - it was me now convincing my lil sis to run. We both run almost everyday and together whenever we can (usually 3 or 4 times a week). Now my lil sis is moving to NYC next month. I'm going to miss my running partner. |

| I'm doing the exact same thing as Joe. I am 5'2'' and started at 157. When I reached my goal of 120, I didn't see it in the mirror. So I made a new goal of 115. Well I hit that, and of course that's not enough either. So now I'm about 112 and am looking to get to 110.
However, a little over a week ago I found a photo album of a trip I took 2 years ago and started looking at it. It was a real eye opener to compare pictures of me at 157 to one taken recently at 113lbs. I think I'm finally beginning to see myself. |

| welcome MSPW!!! Glad to have you.
I just wanted to let you know that I am 5'2'' and I was 157 at my highest, but found this site when I was 147, so about the weight you were when you started. Trust me it can be done - I am now 113lbs and want to be 110, but am happy if I just maintain. I just need to stay on here so I have the motivation to keep eating healthy and exercising. Stick with it and take it one day at a time. YOU ARE NEVER A QUITTER!! It's just a do-over. : ) |

My 5k this morning was one of the toughest I have ever done. It had a lot of grueling uphills. One uphill section was over a mile long. But with all those hills I was still able to do it in 27 minutes. : ) |

| Well I'm back from Mississippi and now out of Tropical Storm Fay. It's a good thing I left when I did - looks like Gustav is about to slam into the gulf coast.
I'm checking in today at 113 yet again. I think it may take me a year to get these last 3 lbs off. I must admit it's going to be a tough year. My boyfriend left for Afghanistan Thursday morning and I already miss him. All I want to do is turn to food for comfort. I'm counting on you guys to keep me on track. I do have a 5k race tomorrow so here's hoping I keep up with the exercise. |

| Hey everyone, Sorry I'm late checking in. I had a very hektic weekend, which of course means not a lot of exercise and eating not so healthy food. But at any rate - I am still at the dreaded 113lbs. I leave for Mississippi on Wednesday to visit my boyfriend before he leaves for Afghanistan on the 26th. I'm sure I'll be burning a lot of calories in the bedroom :) But I probably wont get the opportunity to check in before Tuesday of next week - so good luck to everyone this week and keep up the great work. |

| The Lounge | Michael Phelps eats 12,000 Calories a day | Aug 15 2008 13:41 (UTC) |

| I swam NCAA in college and was taking in about 5000 - 6000 calories a day and I was never eating veggies. They were considered "a waste of stomach space". For us it was Carbs, protein, more carbs, and then more protein. I ate a ton of eggs and chicken and topped it all off with lots of bread and pasta. The problem came when I graduated from college and was no longer swimming. My body was used to taking in all those calories, but I wasn't worknig out nearly as much. I went from an EXTRMEMELY toned 134lbs. to a very flabby 158 (now I'm a not so toned not so flabby 113). It was hard for me to adjust. And while I realize Michael Phelps will always be a swimmer and have some sort of swimming career, I imagine I am not the only college athlete who struggled with weight after graduation. | |||
