| We moved back in February and I had been doing so well before then, losing about 15 pounds. At our new place I just can't seem to get motivated like I was before and have gained back about 8 pounds. I'm glad I found this group! Right now, I'm 166 with a goal of about 120 or so, but I'd be happy at 130 as well. | |||

| I'd go once a year. I heard somewhere that if you're young and healthy you can do it every two years but I go once a year for safety. I think the instrument they insert is actually called a speculum. |

| Thanks for the encouragement, Linda. I actually own a 5-DVD set of Turbo Jam videos that I like to do. I just figured I'd change it up a little with some running. I think if I can get up early enough that then I could do some running while my hubby's still here before he heads to work...it's just hard for me to be a morning person! Especially this winter as it's been so cold here and it's so cozy under the covers! :o) |

| A lot of times instead of using a regular bottled salad dressing, I'll drizzle a little olive oil over our salad and then sprinkle some garlic salt and mix it all in. From there, I sometimes add a few crushed walnuts, green onions, chicken breast, tomatoes, and/or parmesan cheese. It's really good. |

| I just started Couch to 5k last week and just finished week 1 on Saturday. I will be starting the week 2 workout tonight. I do have a question and don't know if this has already been asked as I haven't read all the posts but does anyone do their running in place? I would love to do it outside but a few things hinder me: -Two young children to care for. -Too cold. -Don't like our neighborhood (but this will be changing soon as we're moving next week...augh!) I find I work up a good sweat when I do my running in place. I didn't know if anyone else does this as well and how different it is than running outside or on an indoor track. Thanks! |

| I don't think I've ever had just plain old oatmeal before without anything in it. I think I would be choking it down too! :o) I usually add a teaspoon (or more) of brown sugar and then some cinnamon. Sometimes I'll chop up a banana and add that to the oatmeal. It's very good that way. I've also done applesauce and would like to try pumpkin but haven't done that yet. I have also seen recipes where they add cooked oatmeal to smoothies. I haven't done that but it sounds interesting. There are tons of different things you can do with oatmeal. It just takes some experimenting. |

| Weight Loss | What Finally Made You Realize You Need to Diet? | Jan 29 2008 20:07 (UTC) |

| My motivation was that last year I got pregnant with our third baby. This pregnancy was the only one we had planned and unfortunately I miscarried. Even before I got pregnant, I just didn't feel healthy: my back hurt, I was tired, frequent headaches (probably not enough water and too much stress). I would also look in the mirror and realized my face looked chubbier than I remember ever seeing it. After the miscarriage, I realized I needed to be healthy for my own sake and for the sake of our future children so that's really what motivated me to lose weight and eat healthy. | |||

| I subscribe to Light and Tasty as someone already suggested. It's a pretty good magazine. For websites, my favorite is recipezaar.com. They have thousands of recipes and you can type in what you're looking for and lots will show up in your search results. There's also allrecipes.com which is also good. |

| That soup sounds yummy! I subscribe to a cooking magazine called Light & Tasty which I really like. There are usually a few recipes in there that I think will go over pretty well with my family. And it's always fun to look through the first time and mark out which ones I want to use. Mastering bread making is easy once you get the hang of it. I used to have issues with yeast. :) I'd always kill it somehow or another. I have a bread machine now that I use sometimes which is really a time saver. I came across a muffin recipe a few months ago that is similar your banana muffins. It is for pumpkin chip muffins. We really like them! |

| I love to prepare my family's foods from scratch! I still do buy some processed stuff occasionally but I feel so much better when I know exactly what's in our food, no preservatives and stuff like that. What kinds of things to you bake/cook? I told my husband if I didn't care about my waistline, I'd be baking everyday! :) I love to bake. I recently came across a recipe for scones that is really good and I plan on tweaking it some to make it more healthy. Scones are my favorite! |

| speaking of chocolate, i came across a great snack idea that incorporates chocolate and I don't feel guilty about eating all of it: one package of Oreo thin crisps from a 100 calorie pack one banana slice bananas and sandwich them between the thin crisps. it is SO good and my new favorite snack! |

| A friend gave me a recipe for muffins that are SO good and very easy, similar to the one posted above. 1 box cake mix (your favorite) 1 can diet soda (any flavor) Mix well and pour into greased muffin tins. Bake at 350 (I don't remember how long you're supposed to bake them! Sorry about that!). Makes 12 muffins. The cupcakes are very moist and yummy. I wouldn't recommend using cupcake liners though because they just stick to it. I have even tried spraying the cupcake liners to no avail. I've had much better success when i just spray my muffin tin. |

julia01, I use the King James Version. What is the difference between Sheol and hell? If you look at the following verses, it seems plain that hell or Sheol is in fact eternal: And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 25:45-46 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:28-30 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. Hebrews 6:1-3 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:6-8 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matthew 23:32-34 This was getting long so I'll stop there. I copied these directly from biblegateway.com so that's why certain words are in bold. |

pgeorgian, you can call me Lisa. I don't celebrate them basically because it is nowhere commanded to in the Bible. then, people will say, "But the Bible never says we can't celebrate." True, but then people will be in danger of adding to the Scriptures the things they think is okay. My position sure isn't popular, especially with professing Christians ("What? You don't want to celebrate the birth of Christ?!" You get the idea. Prove to me that Christ was born on Dec. 25th). I think I might get less grief from the "Christian" community if i didn't celebrate the holiday because I was a Muslim rather than a Christian. People immediately feel the need to defend their practice and are convinced that they are honoring God by the holiday. HOw do you know? What if God wanted you to have a star at the top of the tree rather than an angel? What if he wanted you to use the green XMas lights rather than the red? (I'm not trying to be dishonoring here so let me be careful). The other reason I don't celebrate is because I am not a pagan and don't want to participate in pagan activities (even though Christmas is supposedly not one of those). Even if I did celebrate the holidays, I doubt that I would be mistaken for a pagan as most Christians celebrate the them anyway. I don't want to worship the natural world but rather the creator of it. I hope this all made sense. I can clarify if anything is foggy. I'm trying to type fast since I'm working now. :) |

| I am a Christian and one of the very few who don't celebrate the holidays (Xmas, Easter, etc.) because of the pagan roots and symbolism. Most people are ignorant as to the history of these holidays and what they really are. Most of these "Christian" holidays fall right around pagan holidays, and one would think that most Christians would stop and wonder why, but then again, I didn't until a few years ago. |

| foxylady, I'm 5'4 1/4" (when you're short, every quarter of an inch counts!). According to the BMI calculators, 120 would still put me at an ideal BMI but I don't know if that's too low, for me anyway. Maybe it's just intimidating because I have a long way to go still! :) |

| Someone earlier mentioned that hell isn't in the Bible but that it is Sheol instead...I would like to differ on that point. The word "hell" itself comes up 54 times in the Bible. Christ actually talks about hell quite a bit in the New Testament. It is also mentioned quite a bit even in the Old Testament, particularly the Psalms. |

| I haven't tried this yet but saw it in a magazine the other day and it sounded really good: Slices of bananas sandwiched in between Oreo thins (from a 100 calorie pack). I also like any kind of nonfat yogurt with a handful of grapenuts or granola or caramel rice cakes. |

| Hello everyone! I have been at 158.5 for the last three weeks now and would like to get down to 120 pounds. My starting weight was 172 and I had been in the 160s forever. It feels good to see the scale read what it does. I just wish I could get past 158.5. It is nice to be in the 150s group now! |
