Let's face it. YOU CAN'T TRACK EVERY SINGLE CALORIE YOU EAT OR BURN. Period. You can try, but discrepancies will always be there. I say: Stop obsessing about counting, especially something as silly as gum!

When old age shall this generation waste,

Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe

Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'sy,

'Beauty is truth, truth beauty, - that is all

Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'

- John Keats

I think there's a difference between just sex and love, sometimes barely distinguishable. Just don't loose it because you've got 'cravings'. Wait for someone who's worth it. I waited (was 20) and it was worth it, at least back then. We waited for one and a half years. He was more scared of it than I was, although he was *very* experienced and didn't even know that I was a virgin. But remember that it can have much larger implications than you originally think.

@peacelovehominy: Bingeing doesn't have much to do with your calorie deficit as long as you don't starve yourself, but rather with your mindset. Once you're maintaining it's up to you to keep a healthy lifestyle or not.

But I agree with vicereine though. Going straight to a 1000 kcal deficit is a bit extreme. Graduation over a week or two is a good option to 'lessen the impact'.

Actually, a 1000 kcal deficit isn't unhealthy. It allows you to loose around 2lbs a week, which on this site is still considered to be safe as far as I know.

I'm 5'2, 130lbs and myself burn around 2500 kcal a day, and eat around 1500 kcal. Works well for me, I'm loosing 1-2lbs a week but lost much more in the beginning, propably water weight. If it works for you, best of luck and go for it!

Yep, mushrooms are super-low in calories, so the maths doesn't sound incorrect to me :)
The Lounge What's your story?... Nov 12 2007

Well, I was always chubby (around 140 - 160lbs at 5'2) until last year, when I dropped to my all-time low, 107lbs. Since then I moved countries, am for the first time in my life on my own (21 years old), my family lives overseas. Since I moved to England in March my weight went up. I noticed that but didn't worry about it too much. The cause of me gaining was the fact that I was 'eating away my stress', and 'lemme tell you, I had TONS of stress and sleepless nights. When I visited my family in August they commented that I gained a little, and in October, I finally got to weigh myself for the first time in over 7 months and I was shocked when I saw the scale pointing at 147lbs. I lost 17 pounds since joining CC actively in October. I'm going back to visit my family for Christmas and want to drop at least another 7 - 14lbs 'till that time of year. I want to prove to myself that I can do it and surprise people around me in a positive way :)

Remember that fat cells are vital in the production of female hormones. If you loose them your hormone levels might fluctuate too. The only thing I can advise you to do is to go to your GP / dermatologist / endocrynologist. Some sort of salves or supplements might solve the problem.

I've did the mistake that once, I've kept a jar for a day in my room,... and a quarter of it was gone in a blink of an eye! What works best for me though is to do the same as deflepfan16 suggested. Take it out of the jar with a spoon. And then, put the jar FAR, far away ;)

@denise07: But in that case it should be a pound of body weight, not fat, shouldn't it? Whereas the scales that measure your body fat % measure your fat, not weight... if you get me o_O

Read my post again. I didn't say that ALL overweight or obese people have high blood pressure.

You'll agree with me when I say that people who are overweight or obese run a higher risk of developing high bloodpressure amongst other things than those who are at a healthy weight, or won't you?

That's why I said 'some people', not 'all people' ;)

On the other hand it's kinda obvious that if these forums are frequented by people who look forward towards loosing pounds, a moderate percentage of them will be overweight or obese, and most of them will be in turn cursed with high blood pressure.

@dm84: Who said that this thread was only about the caloric relevance of baked beans? Some people have to watch their sodium intake as well.

We don't have Thanksgiving here in England, and I'm planning to loose anything between 7 - 14lbs before Christmas. I will *definitely* not watch myself during that period, since as vmcbutterfly put it very nicely: Christmas is about family, not about what you put into yourself. Furthermore, I'm going to visit my family in Poland for Christmas, and the food there isn't as unhealthy as I here in the UK I imagine. So I can get stuffed with roasts, jellied meats, fish, poppy seed cakes, and beetroot / mushroom soup and still not gain too much. Hooray! :D

Sugar isn't the only problem, there's lots of sodium in most canned beans too. But you can find low-sugar and low-sodium baked beans in most supermarkets.

I myself swear by hot baths. There was one time where I had to lift over 2700lbs in one and a half hours at my job and - being a short-assed girl - was completely wasted. A piping hot bath did wonders to me afterwards. I didn't feel sore the next day at all.

Uhm,... sorry to reign in on the parade, but isn't one pound of body fat actually over 4000 kcal? If one gram of fat equals 9 kcals, then one pound of fat (453.6 grams) equals 4082.4 kcals, doesn't it? Now, one pound of body weight with all the water and so on might be 3500 kcal, but let's not confuse the two. On the other hand, I myself am confused, too >_<

I think this belongs to the Motivation forum, but congrats nonetheless!

The changes that come with weightloss are amazing. Only a month ago, I clocked in at 146lbs (BMI 25.4) I had trouble taking a walk uphill. Now, at 130lbs (BMI 23), I don't walk, I 'breeze' :D

I can't wait 'till I get to back to my lowest weight because I remember clearly how much easier it was for me to do activities such as running and doing sports.

And I agree wholeheartedly about the comment to the 'bigger gals' (and guys). Be proud and carry yourselves like queens (/ kings of course ;)), regardless of what sizes you are! I work with a quite overweight lady; she is just plain gorgeous and takes care of herself :)

I think some of you guys never heard that no more than 15% of synthetic vitamins and minerals get absorbed by the body at once. I'm taking two multivitamin & mineral tablets a day that cover 100% of all vitamins and a substancial amount of minerals (including iron) and I'm feeling more than fine.

A slice of bread with honey and... pepper. It's delish because it doesn't taste as bland. You can add some garlic powder or granules on top of that, too. That's what helps me soothe a sore throat.
