Wow, okat guys I feel horrible. I started this challenge and then completely abandoned it. And for that I apologize. However, the good news is that you all continued without me.'

Basically, lately I have been on "vacation" (and on vacation I mean visiting relatives, which really isn't fun so don't be jealous haha) I didn't plan on going, it was just thrust onn  me out of nowhere. Anyway, I really feel bad about ditching this challenge. However,  count me in for next weeks weigh in please. I have probably gained about 10lbs. It's ridiculous.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a couple days. I've just been so busy lately.

Well this week sucked. Well actually it has been really fun, but healthwise it sucked. I ate out alot which resulted in a HUGE fain this week. Last week I was 135lbs, and this week I'm 139.5lbs. I know that it's mostly water weight from all the unhealthy restaurant food, but it still sucks. Oh well, I will do much better this week.

karenleek: Good idea! Okay, so calculating the percentage will be optional. If you don't know how to do it, forget to do it, or whatever... I can calculate it for you or someone else can if they want to. :)

Ugh.. I ate soooo horribly today. I feel so bloated and disgusting. We went out for breakfast AND dinner. Well, it looks like a hard day of working out tomorrow! I'm going to do my weights, and an hour of cardio on my exercise bike. The sad thing is that that won't even put a dent into the calories that I consumed today. Oh well, everybody slips up sometimes.

I've read it and am doing the workout routines from the book. I absolutely love it! I'm only in the third week, but I can already tell that I'm getting stronger. I actually look forward to my workouts now!

I strongly recommend it. If you follow the workout program (I don't follow the diet), you will definately be intensely sore the first week. But the good kind of sore lol. :)

Well, I had a good weekend. But I'm not doing so well today. We had to go pick up my brother at the airport really early and we stopped at Tim Hortons... I can't resist the wonderful, creamy, sugary coffee! Not to mention I had an everything bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese (my favorite...yummy). Now we are going out to dinner as well. I haven't exercised, and don't see myself doing it either seeing as I'm ridiculously tired.

Oh well, maybe I will just call today a maintenance day. :)

Hmm... am I confusing people with the percentage of weight lost thing? Is there anyone who does not know how to calculate that and would like me to post the formula on the original post?

Or if you guys wanted to we could just scrap the percentage thing all together. I don't really care, it's up to you guys. I just thought that it would make the challenge more fair.

Let me know. :)

todeinotation: I WISH I noticed appetite changes like that! But unfortunately, I'm still the same hungry, junk-food lover that I was two weeks ago haha. Oh well, maybe I have changed but just haven't noticed it yet? One can only hope right? Lol.

By the way, I'm so jealous that you went rock climbing today! It sounds like so much fun! I've always wanted to try it. Maybe I will look online to see if there is a rock climbing gym around here.

----------

Well, so far today I have done good. I did my weight lifting workout and ate quite well (despite eating half a chocolate bar as a treat, but that's allowed! Lol).

My brother is coming tomorrow from Calgary (I live in Ottawa). So that should be fun. Although I hope that since his flight is getting in at 6:30 in the morning he will be tired and want to sleep so I can workout like a madman while he is asleep! Because I'm sure that my family will want to go out to dinner or for drinks or something equally as bad for my diet lol.

My goal this Friday is 135lbs. It's the same weight I was at last Friday, but I was dehydrated so I weighed less than I normally would. So if I stay at 135lbs I will be happy. Of course I will be alot happier if I'm 134lbs! Haha.

Also, I'm making an extra effort to eat more fruits and vegetables this week. So hopefully that goes well. Oh, and I'm trying to cut back a bit on my sodium intake as well. That's going to be the hardest thing for me. :(
Fitness so many squats, but am I benefiting? Jul 21 2008

Well, there are many different variations of squats. When I do them I normally hold the dumbells at my sides. However, there are many ways to do them. Try looking on the internet and decide which variations you like best.

You shouldn't be doing squats every single day. Your muscles need 48 hours to recover.

Try doing weighted squats 3 times a week. Also, instead of doing 100 reps with 5 pound weights, you should do less reps with higher weights. I think you will benefit ALOT more from that.

Welcome calilily :)

----------

So last night didn't go too well. A friend of mine who I haven't talked to in weeks came over. We just smoked a joint and discussed things (it's a complicated relationship between me and him, and his girlfriend...) so it was pretty stressful. So of course when he left, a combination of stress and the munchies led me to eat a chocolate bar and a bag of popcorn. But hey! It wasn't as bad as it could have been. It was only 330 calories, so I only went over my limit by 70 calories so whatever. Still, chocolate and popcorn aren't exactly healthy choices... Oh well.

And can somebody kick my butt so that I do HIIT on my exercise bike today? I know I have to do it, but I'm just not motivated at the moment.. :(

lkahead: Yeah, on Friday, August 1st just post your starting weight and goal weight by the end of the challenge (and any other information/stats you want to post). Then the following Fridays just post your current weight and calculate the percentage of your weight that you lost and post that as well. Does that make sense?

mercy_bobcat: Actually I live in Canada. I don't know why it just says CA in my profile, since that is the abbreviation for California and it just confuses people lol. Shouldn't it say CAN or something?

But the weather is nice here in Ottawa, Ontario. Actually it's been perfect today, which is nice because for the past two days we had thunderstorms. How's the weather in Cincinnati?

Well if you keep posting, I'll keep posting too lol.

Yesterday I didn't eat very healthy, although I did manage to stay within my calorie limit and workout so it's okay. It was because I was hungover and when I'm hungover I don't have much of an appetite so I tried to eat high calorie things to reach my calorie goal and as a result I didn't make the healthiest choices. Today is going much better though, so that's good. :)

Yeah, I just find that it's better for me to just have a little "cheat" every day. Like for my evening snack after dinner, I'll have some popcorn or some chocolate or whatever if I want it. I still stay within my calorie limit and it helps me not to binge. I just know that if I declare one day a week to be a cheat day then I will eat everything in sight and ruin my whole week lol.

Are you getting the sense that it's just me and you who actually talk on here mercy_bobcat? Haha, nobody else seems to check in at all.

susiecue: Isn't it awesome when you realize how much stronger you are getting and have to use heavier weights? Hmm.. as far as choosing between the 8lb or 10lb weights goes, I have no advice for you. It's really a personal preference thing. If you feel that 8lbs would give you a good workout, then buy those. If you feel that you can handle 10lb weights then buy those. It's up to you.

I sneak in Smart Pop Mini Bags (100 calories). Though it doesn't compare to the deliciousness that is movie popcorn, it's still pretty good popcorn considering that it's only 100 calories. Hell, you could pop a couple bags if you wanted to and put the popcorn in a ziplock bag. Oh, and don't forget to wear a big purse to fit this all in lol.

Yeah, I'm bored so I'm posting again! lol

I'm just really proud of myself because even though it's "that time" and I'm hungover as well, I still managed to get motivated enough to do my weight lifting routine tonight. I increased the weight on every exercise too. :)

So yeah, this is just a "yay me" post haha.

mercy_bobcat: TTOM means "That Time of Month" haha. Don't worry, it took me a few minutes to figure it out at first too. I don't have a cheat day, but yours sounded soooo damn good I think I may have to start! Lol, not really though because I used to have a cheat day and it always got WAY out of control.
Weight Loss Calories are good, but sodium too high Jul 19 2008

I don't know yet lol, I also just started. So today was the first time that I weighed myself (I started last Wednesday). But on my previous weight loss efforts I lost weight while having a high sodium intake. So I don't think that it really makes that much of a difference. But it's different for everyone. Some people are really sensitive to sodium, whereas others aren't at all. Since you haven't noticed any bloating or anything I'm guessing that you aren't very sensitive to it, so it probably doesn't matter that much.

I don't really worry about it. In fact, I don't even keep track of it. My sodium is probably really high because, well, I'm a salt fanatic. I put it on most of my foods, even those that already have a high amount of sodium to begin with. I just figure that my main goal is to lose weight and eat healthier, so what if I'm putting too much salt on my cooked veggies? At least I'm eating them, you know?

Pick your battles. :)

Sounds awesome! I'm definately in.

Age: 18

Height: 5'6"

Current Weight: 135

Labour Day Goal Weight: 125

I eat around 1700 calories a day, more when I workout. I lift weights at home three days a week. I'm following the New Rules of Lifting for Women routine, but I just started it last week. For cardio I either do HIIT on my exercise bike, swim laps in my pool, or go rollerblading.

I weighed myself today, and it was less than I expected so I'm quite happy about that! I weighed in at 135lbs, but I don't know how accurate that is because it's TTOM and I am really dehydrated since I drank alot last night. But whatever, I'm still happy!
