Sorry for the late post; weighed in at 166.3 lbs yesterday so down 0.6 lbs since last Friday.

Not much of a loss again, so I guess I better work harder for next week's weigh in =)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello and happy Friday =)  Sorry I have been "away" from all the posts for the past couple weeks . . . Taking classes, working full time, and managing a family with two little ones has consumed a majority of my waking hours.  I just scanned through some of the lasts posts and wanted to make a few comments:

Shannon - I am praying for your son's safe return and for you and your family to stay strong during this very difficult time.  I hope that something positive will come from the leads that have emerged.

Angelic - Thanks for sharing those wonderful pics of you and your family!

Bri - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ! ! !  I hope you have a wonderful time =)

Crazineko - I hope that things will work out with your home situation . . . Keep us  posted if you can.

Jane - Glad to hear that you had a wonderful time in France and that you have kept the weight gain at bay

Rhonda - Woohoo!!!  Congratulations on the 3 lb weight loss!!!  That's such great news =)

Sharon - Congrats as well on the downward turn of the scale.  Keep up the great work!!!

I'm sorry if I've missed anyone for this post - as mentioned, I scanned through the past few weeks so I probably only caught bits and pieces of what's going on with everyone.  I will try to keep in better touch, but unfortunately, my classes have taken up most of what used to be my "free" time.

Just been really busy here, but nothing too exciting to report  . . I had to stop running (again) due to my hip problems, but luckily (and by some miracle) I haven't gained any weight and am actually down to 166 this week (even though I've been eating over my daily calorie limit)  . . . Go figure =P  With my luck, once I go back to running and eating right, I will probably gain a few pounds!

Well, this post turned out longer than expected so I will bid you all a good day and to take good care !!!

Fitness Martial Arts style question... Aug 31 2007

It's fairly common in my area of Southern California, but do they have any martial arts studios in DC where you can, say sign up for a month or on a trial basis?

As the previous posts state, there is a lot of kicking and punching involved in Tae Kwon Do (TKD) . . . my husband prefered WTF, and I liked ITF . . .  Other forms of martial arts have various focuses, so perhaps, if you try out several studios and find one that suits you best, that may be the route to go?

My husband also liked Muay Thai and Savante - but bear in mind that if you like to hit really, really hard -  particularly while you're sparring - expect to get it back in return :p

Good luck!

Just a quick post here too as I am *supposed to be* studying for one of my classes, but I am sneaking onto this site instead . . .

Angelic - You really are admirable!!!  It sure seems like nothing can hold you back or get you down!  I certainly hope that the situation with your leg is soon resolved so that you can get back to running regularly again.

Bri - Hang in there!  The one day of vacation is in past - and it's present day, so I'm sure you're back on track with your diet =)  As Rhonda mentioned, it may actually shock your body and promote weight loss . . . I've read quite a few posts here on CC where people have mentioned the zig-zagging of calories may help and thus an increase in caloric intake for one day, isn't as detrimental as we may think.

Cathy - Glad to hear that you LOVED kickboxing!  Keep up the hard work!!!  It's always fun to get into a new workout routine and even moreso, when it's something that you enjoy =)

Crazineko - Enjoy your vacation and the time visiting with your family =) !!!

Jane - Wonderful to have you back!!!  Congratulations on getting to 167 as well!  Thank you for the well wishes with regards to my daughter . . . . Unfortunately we live in an area where there is a shortage of schools and an over abundance of students, so it's not that uncommon for children to be reassigned from one school to another =(  I'm staying hopeful that things work out for the best.

Rhonda - I don't blame you for not wanting to work out . . . I don't think I would even want to move if it were 100+ degrees =S  I'm sure that once the heat wave subsides, you will feel more motivated to work out.  Oh, and HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY! ! ! !  I may not be able to check/read the posts on this thread for a few days, but I didn't want the week to go by without wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY =)  Enjoy!

Shanon - You are by no means a bad friend!  Life does get very busy at times - so we completely understand.  Just take care of what you need to get done IRL and know that we are here for you no matter what!  Congratulations on the 3.5 mile run!!!  You're doing so great =)  Keep it up!

Sharon - Welcome =)  Good to have you as part of this group!

Okay, not that I want to, but I better get back to studying =(  In case I don't get to check in for a few days, I will wish you all a great week for now!

Take good care,
Belle

Hello Friends!

Wish I could say happy Friday, but it's been pretty crappy (at least for me) so far =(

Sorry . . . I try to look at the positive in situations as much as possible, but sometimes it's hard to.  I should probably elaborate that I am ranting because of my disappointment and frustration with the school district in my little corner of this big world.

I found out this morning that my oldest daughter won't be able to attend the third grade at the school where she has been going to since Kindergarten . . . It's been a frustrating situation at best.   I will have to sit with my husband this evening to see what we can do to get her back there and moved from here currently "assigned" school.  She has done so well at the school she has attended, that it seems so very wrong to disrupt that favorable trend!  Again, sorry for the negative post =(

On a positive note, I FINALLY broke the dreaded plateau that has plagued me for most of August.  My weight is down to 167 this morning (last weeks weigh was at 170).   I'm happy that the scale is making a downward turn, but I think I would be happier if I knew a resolution were in sight for my daughter's situation with school!  Grrr!!!

Okay, back to what I intended to post . . . Nutritional intake for the past week is as follows:

Fat - 25.2% (315 grams)
Protein - 16.6% (467 grams)
Carbohydrates - 58.3% (1,642 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Calorie Intake - 1,357 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 1,365 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 68 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 42 grams
Nutrition Grade A

I hope everyone else is having a better day . . .

Hi Ihilani,

Hang in there!  If you absolutely can't resist, why not just take a very small portion - like one small truffle or a bite or two of the chocolate cake???  It's hard to completely deprive yourself, so maybe if you have just a very small sample - not an entire serving - then you can satisfy your cravings and follow it up by filling yourself up with something more healthy, like the watermelon or other fruits?

Best of luck!

Angelic - Congrats on the 3 miler!!!  Woo hoo =)  You go!!!  375 crunches?!?!?  Wow! I feel like a sloth now!
Well, as far as California Adventure for Disney - unfortunately I haven't made a visit there yet as my girls are still fairly young, and from what I heard, it's geared more towards older children and teens.  Not sure if that helps any?  If your kids are into the character thing, Minnie's buffet breakfast at Disneyland (or any of the other character breakfasts, lunches, dinners) is HIGHLY recommended!  The different Disney characters visit you at your table and take the time to sign autograph books and pose for pictures.  My girls LOVED it!

Shannon - I hope your allergies will get better soon!  It's great that you were able to push through at least one mile - one is definitely better than none!  Keep up the great work.  I am still looking forward to hearing about your weight loss secrets ;-)

This is a short post, but I just wanted to check in real quick.  I wish everyone a great week and will see you all on Friday =)

Cheers,

Semi true - I love Chinese food - but the more traditional Chinese way of preparing it and not the popularized, fast-food like, artery clogging imitations =S

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend as well =)

Cathy - Don't be too hard on yourself . . . 0.5 lb isn't bad at all . . . Also keep in mind that our weights fluctuate slightly from day to day.  I've been a scale addict since I purchased a new digital scale in June and I noticed that my weight always goes up and down within three pounds from one day to the next.  Keep hanging in there!

Rhonda - Today is a new day and now that the weekend is over,  I'm certain you'll be back on track with drinking water.  CONGRATULATIONS on the 1/2 pound weight loss since Friday.  WAY TO GO!!!! =)

Managed to be good this weekend with the food intake - I think even moreso because I stopped running due to an injury and probably won't take it up again until next week.

I *think* I may have broken the plateau that I've been stuck on for the past few weeks, as I weighed in at 168.4 lbs this morning (169.1 was my lowest since the beginning of August).  I'll have to see how things go this week, as I will be trying to stick to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet.

Hope everyone is having a good day so far!

Take good care,
Belle

Got to do a little more reading and catching up with this thread, so here goes . . .

Angelic - I hope you and your family will have a great visit to Vegas and LA.  Haven't been to Vegas in about four years (probably a very good thing though, considering I rather enjoy those all-you-can-eat buffets!).  LA is always lots of fun (I live about 45 minutes north of it) as there is so much to see and do.  The weather has been really nice the past few days, so hopefully it continues while you are in the area.

Cathy - Yes, the scale WILL make a downward turn for you!  I command it too!!!  Well, I'm being rather silly, but I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed!  I hope you don't mind me asking, but was it your birthday on the 5th of this month???  If so, I wish you a very Happy 'belated' Birthday =)

Crazineko -  Congratulations on the weight loss =)  YAY!!!  You are at 163!!!  That's so cool =)  I wish I were 163 right now! . . . BTW, my family and I were away from home, doing some theme-park hopping (I live in southern California, so we do our yearly visit to Sea World, Knotts, Magic Mountain and wherever else we can manage to go).  How is your Zumba class coming along???  Hope you're enjoying every minute of it.

Rdjustice - As always, I look forward to reading your posts =)  They always put a smile on my face and inspire me to hang in there when things get rough.  I will keep in mind what you mentioned about weight not coming on overnight, so it would be rather unrealistic to imagine that it could go away overnight as well.  You should definitely be proud of your accomplishment in losing almost 30 pounds in the past five months!  WOOHOO to you =)

Shan - You sound like you're still doing great with the weight loss . . . Sometimes with a busy schedule, it gets really tough to eat healthy.  You are at 147 though and I would certainly be happy to trade with you ;-)  I had to stop running a couple days ago as well, as I am recovering from a hip injury =S  I really, really, really wanted to continue to run, but my husband convinced me it would be a terrible idea and once I came to my senses, I realized the same . . . I am hoping though that I can start running again by Wednesday next week.

Ok, was going to make this post more thorough but I am short of time.

Quick question for everyone on this thread:  Is anyone out there a vegetarian?  I am thinking of sticking to a strictly vegetarian diet for the next week or so (I'm not much of a carnivore to begin with) but was concerned about iron intake, as I can be borderline anemic at times.  Any suggestions with good sources of iron from the vegetarians out there?  Any advice would be appreciated =)  I suppose iron supplements are on option, but I'm awful at remembering to take them =S

Okay, I babbled enough for now.  I hope you are all in good health and in good spirits.  Oh, Jane - Please get well very soon!!!

'Talk' to you all again soon,
Belle

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has had a great week so far =)  I have been stuck in a plateau for the past three weeks =S (it's driving my NUTS!) and my weight has fluctuated between 171.0 - 169.1.

This morning I was at 170.0 . . . Although I'm a little disappointed, I am relieved that it's not higher than 171 lbs.  I've been able to drink my required water intake everyday.  To *TRY* and speed up my weight loss, I will be trying to eat more frequently (breaking up my meals) throughout the day, increasing fiber . . . and I think I will also need to stop "carb-loading" on the days before my runs.

My nutritional info for the past week is as follows:
Fat - 25.7% (232 grams)
Protein - 22.5% (458 grams)
Carbohydrates - 51.8% (1,053 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Calorie Intake - 1,568 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 1,104 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 182 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 37 grams
Nutritional Grade: A

I will certainly try to do some catching up with this thread during the weekend . . . Until then, everyone who has lost since last weigh-in - CONGRATS!!! - and for those who are in the same boat as I am, hang in there =)

Take good care!

I'm stuck in a plateau * AGAIN * =(  In the past few days, I have tried to change up my diet by eating more frequently, more fiber, less carbs, but that hasn't seem to work.  I'm still running, but stopped weight training about 3 weeks ago, so I guess I better give that another try to see if it will help with the weight loss . . .

To everyone who has reported a loss for the past week - CONGRATS!!!

Hello all =)

Haven't been around as I was out of town last week on vacation and I am just barely getting back into the swing of things.  I definitely have a lot of reading and catching up to do on this thread!

At any rate, I hope that everyone has been doing well these past two weeks . . . Things went very well on vacation and with the celebration of my youngest daughter's birthday -- I don't know how, but I managed to stay away from all the junk food (a small miracle for me!).  I did have some (CHOCOLATE!) birthday cake,  since I figure it was a small treat for staying in check with the food in-take during the trip.

Just cruisin through the past few posts in the last few days, and hopefully I don't miss anyone . .

Angelic - You made perfect sense to me . . . Tried looking at the picture on your profile, but I couldn't see it =(  BTW Congrats!!! on the clothes getting looser in fit!!! =) It certainly means you are progressing with your weight loss!  YAY!  I don't care for the *cottage cheese* look either - so unappealing - but it goes away as your weight decreases (thank goodness!).

Bri -Congrats on working out your tuition payment!  That can definitely be stressful, but it sounds as if you are on the path to less stressful times =)  I can't believe how expensive books can get!  Luckily these days, there seem to be more options available for used books on-line and thus, hopefully ways to save a little here and there.  Good luck to you in all your classes - I wish you much success!!!

Cathy - Bet kickboxing will be fun and an excellent workout!  I took up Tae Kwon Do many moons ago and whenever I sparred, my uniform would be soaked (kinda gross, sorry for disclosing too much info!), but DEFINITELY a great work out =)  I hope you enjoy it!  Please don't be too discouraged with . . .  I'm sure the scale will soon be making a downward turn!!!  I have had my share of slow losses as well - For most of July I was between 175-172, then dropped 3 pounds in a week and a half.  Now it's August, and another plateau where I've been hovering between 171-169 these past three weeks =(  Just hang in there!  I'm sure the kickboxing workouts well help speed up your weight loss efforts!

Crazineko - Your posts are always a pleasure to read as you offer such great encouragement and support =)  Zumba sounds like A LOT of fun!  I wonder if they have anything like that on DVD?  I'm not much of a gym rat, but I think I may surf the web later to see if there's anything available . . .

Jane - Hope all is well with you in Finland!  The food you describe sounds soooooo delicious!  I truly admire your strength and will-power to resist =)

JDbeckers - I am at a consenseus with everyone here that you are just far too pretty!!!!

Livs1224 - Hello, welcome =)  ** whispers** I have to warn you about everyone here on this thread - They are all just way too nice and offer such incredible support, so be warned ;-)

Rdjustice - Thank you as well for all your encouragement and positive vibes to everyone.  You are just way too cool!!!  Congrats on losing most of the water weight - I'm sure you will be able to lose what little is left in no time!  Great to hear you've managed to workout and stick with drinking water =)

Shan - WOW!!! you're at 147!!!  CONGRATS!!!  I'm so very, very, very jealous ;-)  But also absoultely thrilled for you! =))  Keep up the great work and please feel free to share your weight loss secrets with the rest of us =)

Sorry if I've missed anyone . . . I will try to go through the posts more closely this weekend . . .  See everyone for weigh in tomorrow!

Take good care and I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.

Cheers,
Belle

Managed to keep the chocolate cravings under control yesterday, but then had dreams about chocolate all last night.  Ah . . . chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!!!

Jdbeckers - Thanks for the support -  but yes, I do deserve 1 extra cheat free week =)

I'm 170.2 this morning (up exactly 1 pound since last week) and it's still TOM for me as well.  Was able to drink plenty of water and stayed within my calorie limits (even with the chocolate!).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I'm making a confession - I've been bad -- really bad -- and have cheated all this week =(  Had some apple cobbler on Monday, some chocolate on Tuesday and more chocolate yesterday!!!  I have to blame it all on TTOM along with stress at work!  Luckily I don't have a teenage son, otherwise I probably would have eaten a case of girl scout cookies and goodness knows what else =S  Okay, just had to let the cheating thing out of my system.  Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Anna - Congratulations =) BTW on your pregnancy.  I wish you all the best!!!
