Young Calorie Counters Just wondering.. 1,200 calorie diet? May 03 2009

i'm 18, and 5'3. when i was 16, i was 150 pounds and went to a nutritionist. she told me to eat 1300, and i exercised a few days a week. i soon lost 10 pounds. i felt my weight loss after that was "too slow" and i should cut down 100 calories, to 1200. soon i found 1200 felt like "too much" and i cut down to 1000. i lost another 10 pounds. i felt like 1000 was "too much" and cut down to 800. you see the pattern here. i got down to 111 pounds (1 pound away from my "goal weight") in less than a year and was eating 500 calories a day. to make a long story short, i "recovered" myself and gained 8-9 pounds soon after eating a "normal" amount of food. i was then 17. i maintained the 119-120 pounds for about a year, still eating 1200. i started running and upped my calories to 1300, sometimes more. lost 5 pounds. the maintained on 1500 calories. i maintained 115 pounds for a while, until i started responding to a stressful event (sort of a long story) by picking at food and gained 5 pounds. became terribly discouraged. then lost 3 pounds by trying to stop picking and binging. gained it back after picking and binging when i got sick for a week. continued to binge. weight went up to 120. 125. 130. and here i am. trying stop myself from starting any kind of terrible cycle all over again and trying to lose the weight again while not restricting, or any other dreadful behaviors.

long story short, just eat enought to fuel yourself for your age, height, weight, etc so it doesn't cause you any grief.

believe me, you're not alone. i've been binging all week as well, over my maintenance calories, and not exercising, due to being sick. i wasn't doing well before this week, either. the scale has gone up 9 pounds. i feel horrible. i really get the feeling of not being in control. there is tomorrow. there really really, really truely is tomorrow. i have had a hard time explaning this to any of my friends, and there is only one who i feel like i can confide in who i can't even tell all of this to. it's really such a challenge. but there is something that i know...that we will be okay and that we can surely get back on track. best of luck.

i hope everyone recovers well...

i'm also 5'3. when i was 150, i was around a size 12. at 140, i was able to get down to a 10. at 130 i was 9. at 120 i was a 5. at 111, i was a 3.

i think those 15 pounds you mentioned will surely get you back into those jeans that aren't fitting so well currently.

though, 210 to 160 is great! congradulations! :)

i really like amy's meals! i was just in a musical, and they were really helpful to heat up in the microwave and put in a plastic container before i left so i could have a halfway decent dinner! i really like their pocket sandwiches (especially the "tofu scramble" one) as well as their burgers and burritos. i reccomend you try anything you can, haha!

Motivation pear shapes and skinny jeans... Mar 02 2009

25

i'm a pear shape with short legs and have learned that skinny jeans just aren't for me. it can be frustrating to not be part of a trend like that, but i realized if i did wear them they would be incredibly unflattering, and i'd rather wear something i was comfortable in that looked decent than something i wasn't that didn't.

i think it would be best to go in their stores, as well. i love forever21, but it's really best to try things on. some items can look nice, but when they're on, they may have strange folds of bunch up in the wrong places. the only thing i would reccomend buying from their website that you could be totally sure of is their accessories. they have such charming earrings!

Weight Loss "taking advantage" of TTOM? s: Feb 15 2009
21:12 (UTC)

ttom is coming up quite soon for me, as well (i can usually tell more because of disturbances in my sleep, besides being able to tell the general time) and my yesterday was similar to yours. it was valentine's day, and i went through most of two boxes of chocolate, had cupcakes, ice cream, crackers, strawberry cake, chinese food, i pretty much did it all. and today when i woke up, i didn't dare to weigh myself, but i also pretty much consumed everything insight and went over my day's calories already by the mid-afternoon. we're in kind of in similar boats. i'm planning on starting out tomorrow with a planned breakfast and getting enough protein, while trying to downplay the sugar. it might be easier said than done, who knows. but it's best to get right back at it when you can. for me, that day is going to be tomorrow, since most of this day is over...

i hope things end up turning around for you, as well! best of luck with everything.

i've eaten almost my entire day's calories and it's almost 11am. i've been eating almost all my days calories by 7am on days i have school. it's really no fun. i realized something i've been missing is a consistant, filling breakfast. that might be what you're missing too, i'm not sure. as others said, it'd be best to eat light for the rest of the day. i have to do the same myself today...

my friends raved over these books, and basically shoved them at me and told me to read them. i thought i would like them, since there seemed to be a big hype going on, but i found i really did not. i surely can see the appeal, but the writing style and story line did not appeal to me. the writing sounded like it was coming from someone very young. i read through the others thinking maybe it would grow on me, but it didn't. i got to the last book and couldn't even bear to finish it. i'm not sure what's wrong with me, considering the rest of the teenage girl population...

i think oatmeal is completely beneficial to weight loss, and just in general, as well! i have it almost every morning. i sometimes have it with raisins, or peanut butter mixed in, or pumpkin and cinnamon mixed in. it's really great stuff!
