| Dandelion tea might help. One way i tend to get rid of unwanted gasses is to stand with my legs slightly apart, raise my arms above my head and stretch as tall as possible, then slowly bend over at the hips and just let my upper-body hang down. It helps me a lot. |

| The Lounge | strange pregnancy question | Aug 29 2007 16:26 (UTC) |

| With my first pregnancy i was obese, but lost 1 stone during the pregnancy. My son was born at 10lbs8. I am pregnant now (about 8 weeks) and i am still losing weight. I should not gain more than 15lbs, and only in the final trimester. So i will continue my healthy eating plan, stick to 1900 cals a day till the end of my second trimester, and then increase that to the suggested 2200 cals a day for the final 3 months. This is still below my BMR of 2600, but enough to sustain me and the baby. |

| The Lounge | I need advice about sister. | Aug 24 2007 01:11 (UTC) |

| Sounds like your sister is following your mother's pattern. As much as it hurts, you can't tell her she has to leave. Some people need to hit rock bottom before they get forced into action. If you can afford it, help her pay for her medication. Listen to her as much as you can. Offer help with the kids or with anything she needs and is within your emotional and financial means. If you have the room, tell her she can stay with you till she finds her feet, should she decide to leave her husband. In a tent in your back garden, if need be. You may not have been through the same, but you know right from wrong and you know this is not right. Your sister needs to know someone will be there for her should she ever decide to leave. |

| I went camping for a week, and i have yet to get weighed. I ate silly stuff i hadn't eaten in months (cheese, bread, chocolate, pizza...) but i did a huge amount of walking (cross-country, up and over hills, lots of stairways etc). Still...i am preparing myself for a huge gain on Tuesday. On a side-note...i went shopping for the first time in almost a year, thinking that a 40lbs weightloss should make a notable difference in what i can wear....my husband gave me his cashcard, and i STILL came home empty handed. I was gutted! |

| When you don't see yourself every day, and the only mirror in the house is in the bathroom and only shows your head, and you don't weigh yourself regularly....stepping on the scales at a very busy WW meeting for the very first time is a REAL eye-opener...Up until then i could fool myself into believing i wasn't "that" big. I loved my delusional self. Ahaha |

| It's brilliant in the Summer! You could even chuck the melon in a blender and whizz it up, and freeze it in ice cube trays. Next time you make a smoothie, pop a couple of melon cubes in for a nice iced treat. | |||

| White freshly baked bread *sigh* So good...it can only be bad! I used to make a sandwich, one side nutella one side peanut butter, on white bread with butter. Yeah...i'm 140lbs too heavy for a reason! lol |

| How about buying the melon, cut it in half. Eat one half. Cut the other in cubes, and freeze on a tray, once frozen put in a freezer bag. (If you freeze them on a tray wiped with a little bit of vegetable oil, the cubes won't stick to the tray, and they freeze seperate so you can take cubes out as required) |

Maybe he was checking out his manly physique in the reflection of the window, and was impressed with his pecks/abs/glutes. Maybe he totally loves himself! I'm with fallingstars though....let it go. Like badly behaved kids who thrive on ANY kind of attention, these boys will do anything for a cheap laugh. Why give them the satisfaction? |

| Weight Loss | Im afraid of the stigma of weightloss. | Aug 09 2007 21:42 (UTC) |

| I can relate, to a certain extend. For a long time i linked being unhappy to being fat, being lonely and disliked to being overweight. So what will happen when i lose the 147lbs, and i am STILL unhappy and disliked? I think a large part this fear is down to having grown up being bullied because of my weight. At some point my flab became my security blanket. I could pretend to be invisible because despite the bulk, i was overlooked/ignored. But now the pounds are dripping off steadily, what will i do with the change in attitude towards me? I am 35, married, a mother of a brilliant 5-year old boy, and still as insecure as i was at 15. I am losing because i want to be healthy and see my son grow up. And i am telling myself to disregard any fears. Popularity doesn't matter. My health and wellbeing is more important. You lose the weight for YOU. Anyone who ignored you and is now paying you compliments should be disregarded as shallow. You are so much more than the excess weight you (temporarily) carry with you. And anyone too bone-idle to look beyond that weight and see YOU just isn't worth your precious time. |

| Weight Loss | first few weeks, how much did you loose? | Aug 09 2007 09:29 (UTC) |
7 |
| The less you have to lose, the slower the loss will be. In my first week i lost 10.5lbs, in my second week 4.5lbs, and in my 3rd week nada. I still have some 140lbs to lose, so i average at about 4lbs a week. Without starving myself, with the odd McDonalds/BBQ/Cake indulgence, with lots of 'walking for pleasure' in between. Don't be in a hurry to lose all your excess weight. Learn from the process, understand your attitude towards food, and lay the firm and reliable foundation to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle. |

| Weight Loss | how to prevent bloating | Aug 09 2007 09:22 (UTC) |

| 3 liters of water a day, the first 2 before 1pm. No coffee, no fizzy drinks, reduce sodium intake, and drink mint tea. It really helps me, especially the 2 liters (litres?) of water before 1pm. (Plus drinking the bulk of my water before 1 makes me not have to get up at night to go pee!) | |||

| Oatmeal. Sometimes i mix up 40grams of porridge oats with 2 fat free activia yogurts and put it in the fridge for the next morning. The oats soften nicely, and the yogurt is refreshing. I also add some dried chopped prunes and sultanas, to add some fibre and sweetness. Yum! | |||

| My co-workers are great. They buy donuts/cakes/eclairs etc every friday, and they buy WW carrot cake and fruits for me. They are always incredibly supportive of my diet, and ask how i did every week. It's great. |

And cmama...i'd love a huge chocolate cake to appear in MY fridge overnight. I might even eat some of it too. Just because we joined CC, doesn't mean we can't enjoy the good and naughty once in a while. ;-) |

| going2lose, you posted in a thread, not long ago actually, the following:
It bothers me that this thread was hijacked. I reported it, because that is just rude. This is a serious issue on this site. If you want to talk make your own thread, instead of chatting on a thread that some girl said she was leaving CC because the members are so catty and rude and haughty. Luckily, I haven't had any problems with any of the members, you are all very kind to me, but this is just plan rude. Aren't you contributing to this "serious issue"? It just strikes me as odd that you would post ^ that a mere week ago, only to follow it with your response to snotbubblez. As for the OP, it's 1 pizza. It's not the end of the world, plus you wouldn't want to cut out every thing from your diet for the rest of your life, would you? |

| Motivation | overeating the healthy foods? | Aug 08 2007 18:54 (UTC) |

| Think of it this way. For every apple you eat, you won't be eating chocolate/crisps/chips/burgers etc. Just make sure you leave enough calories for whole grains, protein, and good fats. |

| Weight Loss | I wanna stay big!!! | Aug 08 2007 18:04 (UTC) |

| I checked my daily cal need at my target weight. 1950cals at 178lbs. That's a relief....i am on 1850 at 314lbs to lose weight. I'd be worried if my daily limit was something like 1200...thing is...i know i can fill up on 1200, and i have done several times. But that was with the knowledge that i could eat 650 more without feeling guilty. Funny how the mind works... |

| Weight Loss | A LOT TO LOSE!! | Aug 08 2007 17:59 (UTC) |
|
| Chickadee...I started at 355lbs and am now at 314lbs. It took me 12 weeks. I just started with small things. Cutting out junk food, no refined sugars, reduced my saturated fat intake. I am not looking at the bigger picture. I am changing my overall health by replacing unhealthy choices for healthy ones. There is no quick fix, whether you have 20 pounds to lose, or 200. It's our attitude to food that needs changing. The rest will follow. And set yourself small goals. Don't aim to lose more than 10% of your start weight in the first 2 months. The fact that you joined C-C and are willing to make that change shows you are ready for this. |

| Maybe your metabolism needed a kick up the backside, and the sugar did just that. Don't freak out or beat yourself up over it. This is a life-long change, and i doubt you will cut out sweets and treats for the rest of your life. |

| Cottage cheese and yogurt (natural, no added flavours) have protein in them. A whole chicken goes a long way. If you roast the chicken and discard the skin, you can take measured portions and freeze them. That should take you through at least 4 days. Beans/chickpeas have a decent amount of protein, and if you get the dried variety a 500gram bag will cost little but go a long way. |

| Motivation | Do You Feel Guilty When...... | Aug 03 2007 19:15 (UTC) |

| I used to. Everytime i looked at the so-called 'forbidden fruits' i reminded myself what i was trying to do. But today i was physically under the weather, emotionally drained, and mentally wrecked. I said Bugger the Diet, and had caramel shortbread, a HUGE Twix, and.....CHINESE TAKEAWAY. And you know what??? I went completely over my BMR....as in 3190 instead of 2600....I knew what i was doing, i will go for that long brisk walk tomorrow, and get over it. It's a one off, plus my average over the last 3 days is below the 2600. I figured as long as i am completely back on track by Sunday evening i have a sporting chance of breaking even on Tuesday when i get weighed. |
