Just wanted to comment on the losses this week.  What ever you are doing - keep it up!  It will be to your health benefit in the end if you are able to stay on track.  While the holiday are nearing us with temptations, we need to understand that moderation and not fullfilment of what we desire to eat in any portion size is acceptable.  If you do eat in excess, don't give up or call it a cheat or binge.  CALLED IT AN UNPLANNED MEAL.  You are likely to be less hard on yourself for the amount of food and what you ate.

I also want to thank everyone here for being so kind and complimenting each other and giving support where needed.  I know for me, it has been helpful. I have a total gain of like .8 pounds since the challenge, but that is ok. It still isn't over.

Take care one and all. Hope your Veternans day was a good one and that you got to thank a Vet.

Roger you are absolutely right.  Everyone needs to understand how long it took them to get to the point that they want to diet to get healthy and know that it won't come off over night.

Everyone is doing a great job on keeping on track with their logging. I skim through the challenge every couple of days and see if there are any tips I can give you.  One tip I'd like to give is:

Instead of saying you had a cheat day or ate something you shouldn't have. SAY YOU"VE HAD AN UNPLANNED DAY OF FOOD.  Makes it sound less negative and with no negative thoughts that you should give up because you have failed.

Also, dip your salad in dressing not pour it on top of your plate or bowl.

Every deserves a pat on the back for weighing this week.  A rough week with Halloween and all.  I for one, gained and a bit disappointed.  I noted one friend who lost weight and is now below her SW.  Yay, Dwarfish!!! Congratulations.

Roger, for you I am sure you know in time it will show a loss on the scale.  Keep doing what you are doing and you will do fine. Jezimom. I know where you are coming from hang in there!

Todays Tip.   If you have no one to give the candy too. Like take to work, or possbily give a family in the neighborhood who has a alot of children the leftovers otherwise -

FREEZE THAT HALLOWEEN CANDY, ESPECIALLY THE CHOCOLATE AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISE HOW THE TEMPTATION IS OUT OF SIGHT AND YOU ONLY FREQUENT THE FREEZER EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.

This is my plan:  I need some support on this~ so I don't mind if you remind me in my journal.  I REALLY NEED IT.

  1. Get up and have breakfast by 9:30 (300 calories)
  2. Have a snack by 12:00 (fruit or cheese and crackers)
  3. Have a lunch by 1:30 (400 calories)
  4. Exercise at the gym or at home (either constant chores or on the bike) 30-hr
  5. Snack after exercise  3:30 ( Sweet N Salty Mix)
  6. Dinner 6:00
  7. Night time snack around 8:00-9:00
  8. Bedtime no later than 11PM

Spiritual Goals:

Read my bible in the AM after breakfast and after my night time snack.

BTW - My new bible from the thrift shop that costs .50 IS LARGE PRINT.  I am glad my husband found it and asked me if that would be better on my eyes.

We can make new friends by adding each other.  Do this only if you are interested in extra support and reading journals from those you choose.  You might get ideas about things, and then again you might just develop a whole new network of friends.

I see we got two new challengers and I'd like to welcome them. And for our regulars since the beginning of October, I just wanted to reiterate that it is not as important that you log once a week on the same day as you just log once a week and then get back to your routine day.

This challenge seems to have people doing pretty well. For those of you that have gained such as myself, just remember we are fighting that time of the year where there are alot of food and parties to attend.  Hang in there, you'll do fine at the end, I am sure.

If you find yourself doing this too much, it is a disease called OCD.  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and you need help to work this out.  See a trusted doctor. Otherwise, do nothing and get in deeper credit card debt, if you really can't afford it and then your next step is bankrupcy.  You make the decision.

You both need help and it is not how to loose weight, it is how to stay at a healthy weight and your range is towards the low end of BMI and you really need to be in the upper end.  I know this because I am at the same height and weigh well over 200.

Please seek professional advice about your weight concerns and not this site.  You are feeding on each other about how to stay underweight.  I say this out of friendship, love and concern.

MOTIVATION - ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN ADDING ME AS A FRIEND FEEL FREE TO DO SO.

AS FAR AS EXERCISE MOTIVATION WE COULD INCLUDE AN AMOUNT OF WEEKLY EXERCISE TO THE LOG.  WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?  SOUNDS PLAUSIBLE JUST ADD IT IF YOU WOULD LIKE AND SEE HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME.

THERE ARE CHALLENGES YOU CAN JOIN TO DO THAT. BUT TOO MANY CHALLENGES GET CUMBERSOME, SO POSSIBLY JUST ADD IT TO THIS CHALLENGE. I WILL CHECK IN ON THOSE THAT ARE ADDING EXERCISE.

SORRY FOR THE CAPS LOCK, I AM HAVING SOME VISUAL PROBLEMS.

TusconMichelle, Thats fine if you aren't logging your weights, If you want to weigh and add later for your own records you can surely do that!  Remember though, different scales may give you a different reading.

Why don't you become a mod then Gi?  Perhaps you can offer your insight to these wayward counters that are harming their bodies.  You have a way about you, perhaps your knowledge will lead someone to a healthier lifestyle behind the scenes.

Just a thought! Possibly have a ED Forum and a few mods stay concentrated on moderating that? But I do agree with Gi , it is becoming more and more rampant, but in turn I can say those who I have accepted as friends are really trying. So why not offer your support to a few, also.

Ok everyone, these next few months are filled with holidays and this is the important thing we can do for ourselves is portion control to loose weight.  No food should be off limits just limited amounts.  You can loose weight by just reducing your intake of foods to a reasonable portion size.

With Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up we are bound to see some people with increases in their weight according to their scale.  In others we may see a reduction, but none-the-less remain diligent about your journey and the mission you are on!  TOO GET HEALTHY My only words of wisdom for you all is SEE YOU LIGHTER LATER!

The Lounge Prescription Science Diet Dog Foods Oct 15 2009

As a happy pet owner of two mature dogs, one 15 and a half and another almost 12 years old I am proud to say the food of choice on their plate has ALWAYS BEEN IAMS.  Both are extremely healthy with strong hearts, great eyes and beautiful coats.  I'd say the oldest may live to be another 4 years old.  One is a large dog and other is a medium size dog both Husky mixes.  (Lab/Husky) and (Keeshound _basically half shepherd and husky is what she looks like)  She is 15 and a half.

They both get occassional table scraps but not often.  I find the food to be a little expensive but I have greatly saved in the way of vet bills.  I highly recommend the IAMS food for any dog or cat.  My cat lived to be 19 years old and was also on IAMS

I don't think it is a fluke that my pets have been survivors for so long.  But I do know I provide them with enough love and that I am sure plays a part in their overall happiness and I don't hesistate for medical care if there seems to be a problem.

illingal - Welcome back and remember we are here for you.  Stress eating is something that is common to all. Read my profile and it will direct you to a book you can read. I found it helpful and with the information I was able to loose 25 pounds. It helped me identify my triggers and what type of food I reached for and what to substitute in its place.

The rest of you guys, First of all I 'd like to apologize for not being able to be on the internet. I have been having connection problems and it has been very frustrating.  I am working through it though so bare with me.

Now on the positive side of this journey we are all logging about.  I have read up to this journal entry everyone's Goal weight from their starting weight and found you all to be very reasonable in your expectations. No more than 2 pounds a week.  Good for all of you. That is a start! Setting realistic goals that are achievable and attainable and in the long run healthy way of loosing.  Keep up that thought process and you will do fine.

Now . . . . The tip for this week:  Just when you think you can't dig any further like you do in that bag of chips remember that YOU CAN DO THIS JOURNEY And forget about that bag of chips.
