| I honestly just cant afford to give. I can barely pay my mortgage and bills.......why would I donate to children school events or trips out off the country. I barely get to leave my hometown. I don't even have any kids. Besides I really don't know exaclty what the money raised really goes to. | |||

| I hate the fact that the weight gain forum is really for woman with ED's. Most of these girls with ED's weigh more than me and are so young and immature. I can't relate to them. I am an adult.
I am naturally thin and trying to gain weight. There is no place on the site for people like myself to socialize with others with the same problem. Guess I am the only one with this problem. |

| The thing is for every woman who thinks they can get whatever they want with their looks there is another woman out there even more attractive getting the same or more attention.
So many woman act as if they are the only one attractive. Men may pay them great attention until the next eye candy comes along. Just like where I work. As soon as a new attractive female is hired the guys are all gaga over her and then after another attractive female is hired the others are old news to them. |

| I work in a busy restaurant run by two very good looking men who are very strict with our work ethic. I have noticed that they do treat the better looking women much better than the average or not so good looking ones.
I just made an observation the other day regarding a newly hired female who puts hardly any effort into working but yet the bosses think she is so wonderful meanwhile I have been working there for a long time always putting a lot of effort in to doing a good job. Yeah, I get treated well because of this but I feel it is unfair to recognize someone who is not doing a good job as if they are and it is probably because she looks good so no matter what kind of a job she is doing it is "great" according to the bosses. I guess confidence is a key though to being treated better. I once knew this lady who wasn't attractive at all except she had a big bust. She had such a wonderful personality though and had confidence and a positie attitude. Whenever we went out men just loved her. Just her walking into a room without saying a word men seemed to flock towards her. Some people seem to have of a sensual/sexual feeling they give off that automatically attracts the other gender without saying a word or looking all that attractive. |

| Hi, I am the same as you and have the same goal. I am 5'1 90 lbs. and have been trying to get to 100 lbs. I have also been skinny all my life and a hardgainer. I wouldn't say I am underweight though, I just personally want to be a little bigger to fit clothes better and look like i have more meat on my bones. Exercising to gain muscle is probably the best option for myself.....I jst have to get my butt in gear. I did do it once but it was hard to maintain. Once I slacked on exercing eventually the muscle went down along with the weight i had from it. So it is a constant life time commitment to the exercing for maintaining muscle weight. | |||
| Weight Gain | Can you be skinny and healthy? | Sep 10 2008 03:34 (UTC) |

| Yes you can be skinny and healthy. I am perfectly healthy at 5'1 tall and 90 lbs. and 29 yrs. old. I just want to gain a little more just to be a little bigger. There is nothing wrong with being naturally skinny. People act as if it is a sin these days. Like it is unhealthy or you have an ED if your skinny. | |||

| Hey I can relate to how you feel. Been teeny tiny my whole life and have NEVER had an ED and am perfectly healthy. Have heard a million comments about my size. I am 28 yrs old 5'1 and only 90 lbs. I was around your weight at your age and haven't gained much. You may just have a small body frame that affects your weight vs. someone else with a bit bigger frame. Height, muscle mass, and bone/body size can make a bigger difference in weight more than people think.
Try not to worry about other people and what they think. I know that is easier said than done. It is probably mostly females giving you those looks and thinking stuff. All girls suffer from other females comments and looks on one thing or another, weather it is weight or a body feature. Have just a few good true friends who know and accept the way you are and enjoy spending time with them. A friend is nice to have to eat healthy & exersice together it makes it funner to do things with friends. Forget boys right now. They are just a pain any ways at your age. You will fill out a little more in the next few years naturally and the boys will come. Last, Eat as healthy as you can and don't do anything extreme with eating in order to gain weight. |

| Weight Gain | anyone 4'11 to 5'2 tryna gain weight.... | Jul 17 2008 16:24 (UTC) |

I think some (not all) short woman have small bone structures and/or a small body frame plus how much one has muscle vs. fat. All these factors help determine our natural weight which maybe considered too skinny for short woman by everyone else and society. I will probably never be over 100 lbs. at 5'1. I think it is hard to gain what society says we should weigh when it may not be natural for us and that maybe why it is more difficult to gain. I hate being so small and thin but I don't know if there is anything I can do about it. I am almost 30 and in perfect health so I am not going to go through any more growth spurts that I know of. Hopefully my metabalism will slow a little as I get older and I will put more weight on. Height also adds more weight that people think. 90lbs. for someone like myself at 5'1 maybe ok but for someone 5'4 maybe too thin. |

| I am a very petite 28 yr. old married woman who has been trying to gain weight for a long time. Been married 6 years. I am only about 90 lbs. I know how you feel seeing all the volumptous babes out there. Makes me feel insecure about myself. My hubby always says how much he loves the way I am and I don't need to gain weight. I would love to gain 10 lbs. also and be around 100 lbs. Just wish I could dictate where that weight would go. I would love to look like a woman and not a teenage girl. Not for just my husband but for myself. It makes me so angry when people think I am so young. | |||

| Yes I have the same problem but not exactly. I cannot go days without eating. I am hungry every two hours. I wish I could eat every two hours but with two jobs I can't do that so I eat as much as I can in one meal. I have had blood tests and thyroid tests and everything is normal. I am 28 5'1 and cannot get over 90 lbs and do NOT have an ED. I am barely there. I fluctuate between 87 and 89 lbs right now.
I know how you feel about other woman with curves getting attention. I always feel like a child with my friends. I have no idea why girls want to be so super thin when men clearly like woman a little overweight or with boobs and a butt. I would just try and eat as much as possible but only healthy foods. I am a health nut and try to eat mostly organic foods because I don't just want to gain weight but I want to be extremely healthy too. I was drinking the Ensure for maintaining or gaining weight and they did help. I would drink them between jobs or whenever I didn't have a lot of time to eat much. I kinds slacked off on them for a couple weeks though but not on purpose. They get expensive when you are drinking 2 or more a day. Hang in there and don't give up just keep eating. Don't let yourself go too long without eating and always have snacks with you. |

| Weight Gain | How Does one Gain Weight, with High metabolism? | May 27 2008 13:03 (UTC) |

| It is possible 20 lbs. could make her overweight. I know this because I am the same as her weight and I am 5'1. If I gained 20 lbs. it would be overweight for me. If she has the same small bone structure as I do then it could. I feel strongly about what people comment to this young woman bacuse I am the same as her and have a high metabalism. I am very healthy and don't need to improve. I would like to gain a few pounds (not 20 lbs.) too but not if it in any way jeapordized my health. Some woman are naturally small- notice I say small not thin or underweight. I understand that she wants to gain 20 lbs. but their are a lot of woman who want to weigh a certain weight that doesn't mean it will or should happen. I am trying to be supportive for her because I know how mean people can be in real life about a small woman. They think we don't eat or we have an ED and make stupid comments. 93 lbs. is not bad for a woman who is 4'11. People do not realize that at that height a woman does not need to weigh as much. Height adds quite a bit of weight. Maybe she could use a few pounds but maybe not 20 lbs. We don't know because like I said we can't see her in real life and see her body and see how much muscle vs. fat she has. Even at my weight I have a fat butt and thighs even though I am very very tiny. I need to excercise and tone up and then maybe I will gain a few pounds.
I know exactly how she feels. I hate being soooo tiny but that is the way GOD made me. I am trying to give her advice to be happy with herself now the way she is. It is like society expects all woman to be the same weight. Either we are too skinny or too fat by everyone else. I am not trying to attack here but help realize that peoples comments are not FACT and mine are not either but i completely relate to her. I have no ED and have a high metabalism and am short and same weight as her. |

| 20 lbs. may or may not be overweight for her. We cannot see her in real life to make that call. Those BMI charts are not accurate and I have no idea why people go by them....just my opinion. And she didn't say that she was unhealthy. Why do people assume thin people are unhealthy? She could possibly harm her health more by gaining weight that is not natural to her body type. | |||
| Weight Gain | Naturally thin & trying to gain....anyone else? | May 15 2008 20:05 (UTC) |

| I agree....there is probably less support for naturally thin males. I actually know quite a few males around my age (28) that are naturally thin and work out and eat tons but do not gain. One is my best friends boyfriend.
jabuhrer: sounds like you must be very healthy from your diet and exercise. I actually grew up mostly vegetarian. My mother grew all our vegetables. I also eat a lot of seafood. I try and eat mostly organic foods and it is hard to gain weight this way but I rather be healthy inside. |

| I actually managed to gain 3 pounds. I know it is not a lot but after years of trying to gain......or I should say wanting because I lacked in trying sometimes; this is actually great progress. No one can tell I gained 3 lbs. but i can a tad with my clothes. I am actually not underweight for my height and bone structure.......I am just a small person.....there is a difference. I just want to get a little plumper to make my smallness not......well not sooooo small. I am sooo tired of ALL the comments everyday......YES EVERYDAY.....not a day goes by I dont hear some one say something about my smallness.
Thanks for the rest of you that shared your story to me. It is hard being here on this site because everyone else is recovering from an ED and I can't relate to that at all. I would never in my life ever think about having an ED. There are no support sites on the web for naturally thin/small women (not teenagers). |

| I bet you look perfect for your height. I am also very short and tiny. Most people don't realize that height adds a lot of weight and very short and small framed adult women do not need to weigh a lot to be very healthy. I would just eat three healthy full-filling meals a day. I am also trying to gain but stay around 95-100 pounds because of my bone structure. That sounds really thin to a lot of people but like I said MOST don't realize that our height does not require us to weigh the same as someone taller. You are probably very healthy and attractive. I also feel like a little girl at 28 years old. Most people treat me like one too. It is very frusturating but I dress mature and act very mature and I let people know their comments are hurtful and it is no ones business about you weight ot height.......so don't let people ask you these questions.....it is very rude to ask an adult woman these things unless you are a close friend or family and you have the type of respectful relationship for this information.
I am also naturally thin and have NEVER had an eating disorder so I know it is harder for someone like ourselves to gain because it is not natural because of our body type. I just love how everyone wants to assume ALL thin people have an eating disorder......and don't realize not everyone has one or that we are unhealthy just because we are small....... Notice I said small......there is a diefference between a woman who is small and undrweight. I am perfectly healthy confirmed by my doctor and you probably are too but eating unhealthy foods is not healthy for anyone no matter what size. |

| I wouldn't worry to much about it. Your 15 and will probably fill out more naturally in the next few years. I wouldn't worry about gaining or losing.....just eat very healthy three meals a day and let your body do its natural thing. I don't weigh much at all and it is natural for me and I have no health problems and I am 28. I truly believe if people just eat healthy and exercise and have no medical issues that their body will be at its natural weight and other people may think that the natural weight for a person is to skinny or too much but it isn't up to them what they think is the right weight. And those weight charts are not accurate in my opinion. They always say I am underweight and I am not...I am just very petite and small. | |||

| well I must be an odd naturally thin person because I have always been really skinny genetically, but I do not eat whatever I want. In fact my favorite foods are the really healthy organic ones. I did go through a period where I ate a lot of junk food and just fely really terrible and unhealthy. I am trying to gain weight but in a very healthy manner with healthy foods. Greasy fried foods disgust me. I grew up with a mother who home grew all our fruits and veggies organically. So.......Yes there are naturally thin people and not all of them eat a bunch of junk. Reading some of the posts it seems as if some people are wishing for naturally thin people to eventually become overweight and unhealthy at some point as they age. | |||
| Weight Gain | Slow and steady wins the race... weight gain that is! | Mar 27 2008 21:04 (UTC) |

| I have just been eating more calories for breakfast and in between meals. I used to eat only a little for breakfast and then wait until lunch and I always eat a good lunch. Dinner is hard for me because I get off work late around 9 or 10pm and do not eat a proper dinner. I have been eating a real dinner the last couple days after work with a lot of calories when I get home and I drink ensure weight gain after lunch and before I go to my night job. I thought I was eating plenty and then when I added up my calories...I wasn't really eating as much as I thought. I eat healthy meals and have added more snacks in between like nuts but I have a sweet tooth and have added more chocolate and sweets too. The problem is if I do not maintain this new amount of calories each day I will lose weight fast and sometimes it is not always easy to eat with two jobs even if I am really hungry. | |||

| snoppb, You sound exactly like me (I am 28 almost 29 5'1 and 85 lbs.) except I have never had an eating disorder. I have always been extremely thin and no medical issues but I have been trying to gain weight for years. I hate being so thin. I just recently started using the calorie count program and after counting my calories for two days I realized I was only consuming around 1200 a day and that is probably why I do not gain. I started increasing my calories over the last few days and have got up to 86-87 lbs. so hopefully just an increase in healthy calories will do what I accomplish. I wouldn't decrease your exercise but increase your calories a little more each day until you gain what you want. I always say I would rather be a little overweight than under and most men prefer woman a little overweight verses to thin. | |||

| Thank You all so much for the advice and support. I am glad to know that I am not alone. Even if I can't gain...it is just nice to know that t is not just me who is naturally slim.
I do get that I just need to eat more and I will really work on it. I feel like I already eat a lot but I suppose the only way is to eat more. I just wish my body would retain more. There have been days I have ate so much food I thought for sure I had to gain some pounds....but it just ended up going right though me and not sticking to my bones. bstn90-I do need to bring more snacks to work. My day job, I work in an office and can do that but my night job is in a restaurant. I work a straight shift with no breaks and eating is not allowed. I truly believe that this is just how my body is and I cannot force it to gain....but I am still going to try. I hate all the "you are so tiny....eat!" comments. At 28 yrs. old it is not nice to hear. |
