| Weight Loss | Starting to get angry!! | Jul 10 2007 15:35 (UTC) |

| See, I do speak with my parents. They know that I am watching my weight, but they get SO angry when I eat something else then what they make. They're really understanding during the week, but when it comes down to not eating their food, they go crazy. | |||

| First off, you're not too big to do that stuff. I was 220 and 5'2 when I started working out, and after pushing myself to walk at 3.0mph for a mile, it felt awesome. You'll eventually work to the point of running. It doesn't really matter about your size...it matters about your physical fitness. You can be a bigger size and still feel fit and able to exercise more. You just have to push yourself and come to the realization that you CAN do this and you WANT to do this. | |||

| She does, actually. We were about the same size when I started my diet (5'2 and 220lbs), and now I'm down to 205lbs and she says this stuff. I told her that I would not like to go to fast food and she got so angry. She said it would be good for me to go and that I should. I told her that she can get it for herself then, and she stopped talking to me. She is the only friend that I have who has been there for me until recently. I'm just hurt by her actions. |

| You also could be gaining muscle mass, which weighs more than fat. | |||
| Weight Loss | Should i eat more? | Jun 26 2007 20:42 (UTC) |

| At first, it's normal to lose that much weight when you first start. You're just losing your water weight. I wouldn't worry about it because you have a healthy calorie intake. I lost 10 pounds my first 2 weeks from losing water weight, and now I'm losing a healthy amount each week. It will even out. |

| That's actually the one I'm taking. I'm taking a type of One a Day, but I'm not sure exactly which one I'm taking. It's a red pill though. | |||

| I actually never drank water before. I only drank soda and coffee, and I ate out at fast food restaurants every single day! I was thinking that it might be withdrawls, but how long do they last?? | |||

| Fitness | Eating before or after working out?? | Jun 14 2007 16:47 (UTC) |

| I usually eat before I work out, because I feel like I am burning off that food as well. It may not be all true, but it's a good motivational thought for me! | |||
| Weight Loss | Has anyone had gastro bypass? Is it worth it? | Jun 14 2007 16:07 (UTC) |

| A little over a year ago, my mother got gastric bypass surgery. At that time, she weighed over 300 pounds and was around 5'3. She would have dieted normally, and was about to start, but the doctor recommended gastric bypass due to issues with her weight suffocating her during her sleep (I forgot the term for that). After she got the surgery, she started losing a LOT of weight, and really fast as well. In about 6-7 months, she was down to 220 pounds. The only problem with that is that she had a lot of excess skin and would need a tummy tuck to clear that up. She couldn't drink 30 minutes before or after her meals, and could not eat sweets or carbonation. Unfortunately, she got excited about her loss of 80 pounds and began slowly slipping into her old ways of horrible eating. She still doesn't drink soda, but she gained a lot of weight back. She now has gained back 30 pounds, and is extremely upset about it. As far as the surgery goes, I would only say it's good if you have a severe illness linked to weight, and need to lose it fast. If you do this, be sure that you can actually stick with it, because you'll gain that weight back so fast. |

| Weight Loss | When Is The Best Time To Weigh Yourself?? | Jun 13 2007 22:08 (UTC) |

| I agree with the weekly weighing before you eat or drink anything in the morning. If you weigh yourself every day, you're apt to more depression because you might see yourself go up a pound. But if you weigh every week, you'll see more accuracy as far as overall weight loss goes. | |||

| Weight Loss | I just heard some advice that really sparked my interest. | Jun 13 2007 21:17 (UTC) |

| Yeah, I see the part about emotional eating. This only happens when I get bored. For example, when I'm sitting at work with nothing to do, all I want to do is snack, snack, snack. I actually go through anywhere from 5-8 bottles of water JUST AT WORK a day. (Yes I recycle the bottles, lol). What, other than the water theory, would help with emotional eating then?? |

| This thread is great! I work 48 hour weeks as a help desk operator, and sit at my computer ALL day. What I do is keep 5 bottles (16.9 FL OZ) of water at my desk, and when I finish them all, I walk briskly to refill them. This way, I'm getting at least some exercise during the work day, getting plenty of water, and recycling! | |||
