Hey everyone!  I haven't been on here in almost a month!  got really discouraged there for awhile and realized that i was too focused, you know, and starting to get obsessive.  so i backed off for a few weeks, and now i feel better.  i'm so happy to see that this thread is still rockin!

I'm thinking, maybe i was super bloated, that's why my measurements were off, and my thighs don't measure bigger than my hips, it's just my hips (lowest point) kind of stick out, make sense?  so, i was pretty sad there for a minute.

but, guess what, not being on this site, i have maintained my current weight, which is somewhere between 120-123, and have never gone over my 1200 for the day!  so, i guess i did learn something after all!

anyhoo, i'm glad to be back, i just will not be obsessive this time.

Welcome to all the newbies!!!!  :)

honestly that doesn't seem like that much food to me.  i would think you would (with the exercise too) lose some weight on that amount of food.  just a suggestion, maybe go to the doctor and have them run some tests, such as thyroid, maybe it's due to medication or birth control.  to me, it just doesn't seem like you are overeating, or even undereating, (forcing the body to store fat).  i dunno know, try doing those tests and maybe do an experiment with the food/calories/time of the month/and exercise, and then do it all again for another month.  see what happens.  good luck!  please keep posting and let us know what you find out.  :)

sorry for the long post.  it was one of those "copy and paste" deals.  i'm still recovering from my depressed and confused measurements.  yesterday, i didn't log anything!  just didn't feel like it.  but i doubt i had even 1000 cals.  yet i'm full.  today is going to be a better day.  i am going to have a  new outlook today!  :)

Alas, everyone is doing so great here but my situation is really baffling and depressing!  check it out:  here are my measurements for the last month, check out this week's, i gained inches!:

My measurements for June 11, 2007:

Upper right thigh (around):  22 ½ inches

Upper thighs (front)(both legs):  37 ½ inches

Right arm (upper, around):  11 ½ inches

Hips (around):  36 ½ inches

Belly Button Area (around):  33 ½ inches

Real Waist line (around):  30 inches

Bust (nipple area around):  37 ½ inches

My measurements for June 18, 2007:

Upper r thigh (around):  20 ½ (2 inches lost)

Arm (upper):  11 inches (lost ½ inch)

Hips (around):  36 inches (lost ½ inch)

Real Waist Line (around):  30 ½ inches (gained ½!)

My measurements for June 24, 2007:

Upper thigh:  20 inches (1/2 inch lost)

Upper arm:  11 inches (same)

Hips:  35 ½ inches (1/2 inch lost)

Waist:  29 inches (1 ½ inches lost)

why did i GAIN inches!!  I thought muscle was leaner than fat?? so..........confused.  thanks for letting me rant on.

congrats to everyone and welcome newbies!  i'm just having a bad day, nevermind me. :(

me too me too!  i'm 5 feet and currently 117.  my scale hates me!  anywho, i too, try to eat at least 1200 maybe 1300 or 1400 on exercising days.  but some days, sendentary days, i find it hard to stomach 1000!  i too, can't stand that my BMR in the morning is only 1489 :(

what am i going to do with that!?  that doesn't give me much to work with, as compared to someone who burns 2500-3000 a day doing nothing!  okay, im jealous. i admit it.  but, darn it, we short people have to work so...............so ..........so  hard just to maintain!  let alone lose.  a pound on us is like 20 on someone else.

Weight Loss anyone on weight watchers? Jul 09 2007

again i will repeat my previous post about my opinion of WW.   it was hard for me to lose anything!  i only needed to lose about 20 pounds, so i was only allowed 18 points!!  that's 3 of those cookies the poster earlier stated and maybe just maybe a bowl of oatmeal, all day!  that's probably a bad  example but i'm trying to show how like say a piece of fruit at a 100 or less is the same value point as say a 1/2 of a candy bar.  i was always hungry.  felt sad towards the end of the day, when i had maybe 1 point left for a dessert and hubby (at 6'3" and 300lbs with 45points to use) had at least 10 or 12 towards a decent dinner.  also, starting exercising in the 3rd week like they suggested, and i gained a few pounds.  the leader suggested that i wasn't following the plan right.  she swore up and down, that it wasn't because i had gained muscle.  sorry, so long, have some resentments still.

it may work for some, just not for me.

i love this website, it's free, i like seeing the actual cals and nutrition info, and activity cals (so much better than expecting 1 pt earned for exercising in an hour--not much of a pat on the back there--ooh, i could have a an apple now!)

Sendentary is what your body would burn off (during the course of 24 hours) with you doing NOTHING at all.  literally sleep and lay down.  No activity at all.  At least that's what i think it means.  maybe someone else can put in their opinion to help.  :)

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the newbies here.  I apologize for not being "here".  We went out of town, to the Bay Area and we just got back.  the weather was so...............nice!  in the 70's.  Here in the Central Valley, it's about 108!!  (the Armpit of California!)

I didn't log in my stats this weekend.  Congrats to everyone who is faithfully logging their stats.  I am experiencing a serious plateau now.  so i am concentrating more on what my body looks like rather than what stupid scale in the bathroom says *gives dirty look towards the bathroom*.  I have to say, the weather does play alot into how we eat.  my house is nowhere to being "cool", we don't have central air, just a swamp cooler that doesn't function during the day, only at night.  we do  have box air conditioners in each of the bedrooms, so needless to say, i was eating healthy and really enjoying my meals in the Bay Area.  but as soon as i stepped out of the truck here, i lost all my appetite!! i have had no appetite since we came back (a couple of days).  barely  could eat 1000 cals a day.

anywho...........welcome everyone who is new and let's keep posting!!  :)

welcome all "newbies" to our "shorties thread".  Remember that old saying, "nice things come in small packages" or what was that other one.............oh yeah, "dynamite comes in small packages too!"

or how about, careful, TMI:  "small hands, small feet, small ..........."

you get the picture :)

you can state your stats on the weekends (to show your progress) and we will support you all we can :)! I mentioned the weekends to give everybody a chance to post, something that was on a regular basis, sort of like a check in.

hi jrmint427 welcome!  this is a great thread!  we really try to boost each other up when we need it.

nycgirl~i don't have a tape/dvd i am currently using.  i used to use Pilates for Dummies, and just did the basic poses instead of the intermediate poses.  but that does take alot of stamina to build up to.  perhaps, try pilates and yoga first, because that is low impact, not necessarily cardio but it will help with endurance and muscle, and we all know muscle burns off fat!  right?

for me, i'm not in the greatest shape, could use some improvement, it would seem to someone else, i am pretty fit, but i know better, i could do much better, so i do walk on the treadmill, use the elliptical (i can only do a few minutes at a time with that one, my legs feel  like LEAD!), but i also dance (ballet, ballroom and jazz, and tap).  do you go to the gym?  some gyms have low impact pilates and yoga or maybe a step class, just don't use the step right now, i used to go and leave early if it was too much.  nobody ever said anything or gave me a problem.  go at your own pace.

i'm off to bed now.  night :)

i feel SOOOOO bad for not posting this weekend.  it's TTOM for me and i've been really feeling it!  Hi nycgirl, how ya doing?  i don't even look at the scale anymore, i think mine is possessed.  it just doesn't want me to be happy.  the best advice i can give you, is low impact aerobics, just start moving!  once you are moving for about 5 minutes you'll start feeling warm and your blood will be pumping, you don't need alot of intense activity to get a good workout.  just start moving and you will see, you will feel like moving for another 5 minutes.  i usually just crank on the music, something fast and upbeat and go for it!  the endurance will follow.  you just need to get started.

i won't even mention my stats this weekend, i'll wait till next weekend.  i feel like a water balloon right now :(

i'm 5'0" and started at 125!  now around 118! give or take a few pounds, that stupid scale!  and that TOM again!  i am also 38 years old and have had 5 kids so............it is taking alot longer.  when i was a teenager, i was very active in dance, and weighed about 85-90 no kidding!  in my 20's after having 3 kids could maintain around 105-110.  in my 30's after having 2 more kids, could maintain around 115-120, but creeped up to 125 before joining here on C-C.  i am an  hour glass shape bust is usually proportioned to hips and a little waist.  a pound is big difference on me :(
Weight Loss Help with my 13 year old Jul 01 2007

well, from a dance teacher's prospective (and former dancer and borderline anorexic), take your daughter and RUN! not walk to the next dance school NOW!  competition is so overrated these days, everybody and every studio wants to be #1 at the expense of these kids.  and yes, the dance world can be harsh, with ballet being one of "thinner" people.  if she loves dancing so much and is not obese, and does not have an obese BMI (take her to the DR), then enroll her in reputable school, that focuses more on technique and recitals rather than comps.  if your daughter wants to dance for fun and excel in it, great, keep her healthy at a better school, however, if she wants to dance as a career (especially ballet), but also jazz, tap or cheer, being fit and looking the part is all "par for the course".  don't let one teacher, or director steer her in the way of diets.  she will begin to hate her life and her body and have low self-esteem.  she will try and try to be something she is not (a skeleton!) and will end up not having any energy to dance anyway........:(
Weight Loss HELP! Regarding Weight Watchers Jul 01 2007

i had issues too, i was only allowed 18 pts per day.  i tried to eat healthy but that meant very little portions and some fat-free desserts.  i was always hungry, and it seemed my hubby could eat way more, and my sis too.  they both had around 30-40 pts to eat!  i felt starved!  tried exercising in the 3rd week, and gained 2 pounds.  my leader said that i must have ate too much.  i told her no, it was muscle, it weighs more than fat, and she said  that wasn't true, in front of the whole group! needless to say, i am much happier here.  i don't feel starved!

to #7:  my point exactly, 7 points for breakfast, 5 points for lunch and 9! points for dinner, 7+5+9=22, too much for my points.  i guess i just felt deprived :(

"12 cup of brown rice????" that seems like alot!

Fitness motivation ideas? Jun 25 2007
01:06 (UTC)
how bout, instead of trying to plan to go for a walk, which in itself, can be unmotivating and hard to start,  just trick your mind and just walk out the door and down the street (1 min), before you know it, your heart rate will go up and you will start feeling that adrenaline.  sometimes, if we fall off the wagon and have a hard time imagining ourselves getting back on the wagon, try just standing by the wagon, get up on the wagon, jump off, get back up, before you know it you've knocked off about 2-3 minutes!  it works for me.

like today, i don't feel like going to the gym, the whole getting in the car, it's too hot, etc., so i am going to go for a walk, but i'm not going to have a destination, just step outside and walk.  :)

before i saw that you corrected that, i thought, "she eats people??" wonder how many calories, just kidding.  no cannibalism here!  as to your question:  do you work late and then sleep later?  if so, then you start your day at 2pm and go all the way till about 4 or 5am.  right?  i don't think it makes much difference if you are active during your waking hours (work, 24 hour gyms, exercise at home, housework, etc).  as long as you are not a couch potato from 2pm until 4am i think it would be fine.  :)
Fitness my kness hurt from lunges Jun 24 2007
00:32 (UTC)

when doing a lunge your knees should be directly alligned with your toes. you should be able to look down and see your toes (facing forward if you are doing a parallel lunge) and your knees directly aligned with them.  hope that helps.

by not aligning your knees and toes, you might be  having your toes face forward and your knees over too much say towards the outside of your foot, or in too much say towards the inside of your foot.  this is whats causing you pain.  your knee is having to compensate by being "twisted" and out of alignment.  :)

thank you for your replies.  i'm just having one of those,"nothing sounds good right now" days (or week).  it doesn't take much to fill me up.  actually, i've had today:

coffee, creamer, cheese, tortilla, fat free refried beans, asparagus, jello fat free sugar free, milk, water (lots), butter, umm........., lots of bread (wheat), deli slices (ham)

just not regular meals.  i have a hard time eating just meals, so i eat throughout the day (snacks).

kelz80, i'm not sure what's working for my bust, could be cardio?  maybe?  i'm sure the ballet helps alot, we work up a sweat in the first few minutes, by the middle and end of class, we are huffing and puffing.  i perfer dance to the gym, as you can tell.  but i think where ever the fatty areas are, like your bust and butt, is where you start losing it fast with cardio.  stomach area, a whole another ballgame.  for me, that is going to the last to go! :)
