Pregnancy & Parenting Anyone have a successful pregnancy after miscarriage? Nov 04 2008

Hi I wish I had good news for you. I had 2 consecutive miscarraiges. The first at 5.5 weeks which was natural. The 2nd, i got pregnant immediately after and lost that one too. I found out at my 9 week ultra sound that hte baby stopped growing after 6 weeks. i had to have a D&C. I'm still waiting for my period to show up from the surgery.  It's tough. I'm trying to lose some of the extra weight when I was pregnant and that I gained after the surgery for comfort.  =(  I'm so obsessed with getting pregnant that I was driving myself crazy.  I want to try on focus on being healthy instead.

anyone have any advice on excersing and pregnancy? I've read all the WTE articles on fitness.  Someone on my april 2009 boards said they heard doing crunches was not recommended b/c it wasn't good to have your ab muscles too tight. I've heard the opposite, but haven't had a chance to ask the doc. I have  my first appt.  this thursday.

Hi all! I'm from WTE and am on the April 09 boards and the TTC boards.  Just found out I'm pregnant and am about 5 weeks along. I've been on CC since my wedding last year....and stumbled across this post.  I would love to join you -- though I'll be focused on maintaining a healthy pregnancy weight.  =)

p.s. my WTE name is BrianneWL (obviously my last name changed when I got married, hence the switch from Brianneo my login in name here, to my login name on WTE).

Hi Melissa, I'm a newbie mom! (not a newbie to CC though). I'm about 5 weeks pregnant -- I think --- and my EDD is 4/19/09.  I dont have much symptoms yet except for the sore boobies.  but I'm really really really trying to stay fit and eat healthy so I dont gain any excessive weight.  I hope that we can both do it, and I would  love to meet new first time mommies or soon-to-be mommies so that we can go through this "healthy" pregnancy journey together.

Cassrd05 -- looks like you got your profile up.  =)  You'll get the hang of the CC profile thing over time.  The best part about this is the access to the forum and the ability to journal and read other friends' journals.

Hi Cassrd05-- I'm very similarly in your boat. I'm 5'8" and 134 lbs. I'd like to lose about 5 lbs. and am planning to start a family as well.  =)  We should be each other's buddies in this weightloss, family starting journey.

Hi Dacia!!! Remember me from the brides forum?  Did you get married yet?  You lost a lot of weight, good job!!!!  We should all start a forum for TTC and losing weight.  =)

good luck ladies!

Pregnancy & Parenting TTC #1 - cramping/tightness? Jul 04 2008

wilkiea - keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope your visit with the doctor works out.  I had a 52 day cycle when we went on our honeymoon and also took 3 pregnancy tests which all turned out negative.  doc said it was likely the traveling that got my system out of wack.  thought that was the case this time (except no traveling this time), but it was a pregnancy.  good luck my dear.  (wish me luck too----for a healthy pregnancy).

wilikea - I just posted in the other forum that we were successful. I found out 2 days ago and have yet to go to the doctors (appt. is on Wednesay). anyways, all last week (a few days before and some in the week after my period was due) I also had cramping, and tightness in my uterus. i really thought it was premenstrual cramps and thought I was getting my period.  This past weekend, I was 1 week overdue for my period, and finally took a test. It was positive!!!  Took another one yesterday, and still positive. so cramping is definitely a sign of early pregnancy.  (I googled it on Friday before decided to take the test the next day, and yup, many women experience that as a sign of early pregnancy). I hope this is the case for you!

Today, day three of knowing, my cramping has gone.  But it hung around for a good week or so. It was generally mild, but definitely noticeable for me.  I also felt slight bachache on occasion.

p.s. I am 28 and was TTC #1 for 3-4 months.  =)

ok, we did it!!!!  =)  It took us 3-4 months of trying.  =)  Just took a pregnancy test on Saturday and it came out positive. I was about 1 week late for my period. I really thought I wasn't pregnant though, b/c my husband had traveled during ovulation, but I guess somehow before or after, we managed to conceive.  I wasn't even really concerned with getting pregnant b/c of his trip.  Interestingly, I was having cramps all last week (the week after  my period was due), so I kept thinking I was going to have my period. I even wore pantyliners and bought tampons, thinking that was the case.  1 week late, I decided to take a pregnancy test and it was positive.  Took another one, yesterday ( the next day), just to be absolutely sure, and yup...still pregnant.  Going to the doctors this wedensday and am crossing my fingers that this is going to be a safe and healthy pregnancy.  =) I'm so happy!!!  Just goes to show, that when you kinda stop trying to conceive or when u least expect it, it happens.

heather - i haven't seen sex and the city yet, but both Burnyh and my girlfriends say they cried and that it was goood! I cant wait and I'm so jealous that you get to go to new  york.  cant believe its finally here, i remember whe you first started saying you were planning to go last year and making that your goal date to lose the weight. you beat that date by several months, huh?

Margo - yes, the bachelorette season is soo good! so which guy is your fave?  I like Jeremy (cuz he's so hot) and Jason - (cuz he's a sweetie).  Part of me is rooting for graham too because he's hot and he's a southern boy, but he's so quiet.

Hi Liz- welcome! I'm also one who lost weight for the wedding and gained it back afterwords.  We got married in November and since then it's been a slow and steady gain till now.  I'm back and I'm serious.  =)  I'm sure you can do the job once again.  This is a great website...and it's also helpful in learning what works for you and what doesn't.  I think 1200 cals is a bit on the lower side for me personally, but the nice thing about this place is you can share your story and learn from others to figure out what's best for you!  Good luck!

well, the scale is headed in the right direction. it's kinda funny to know that i got down to 127's during my weding and now am about 10 lbs. heavier...that darn newlywed weight!  today i was in the mid 135's so am feeling good. I also feel good that I'm getting back to calorie counting again.  =)  It's nice to be back!

good question Wilkiea!

My mom apparently had no problems conceiving me and my brother (I was born 2 months after she was married...my brother born 1.5 years later.  Dad had a vesectomy -- so they conciously decided not to have any more children). My brother has two children and a third on the way!  However, my grandmother only had one child, my mom...she  had difficulty conoceiving and carrying a child full term.  I was also wondering whether I inherited her difficulties in conceiving.......  Wilkiea - I cried when I found out my brother is on number 3 (only my husband knew and he was awesome in comforting me).  =(  I'm happy for him, but at the same time, cant help but feel something is wrong with me...we'll go to the doctors after several more months of  not conceiving to find out.  Doesnt' it seem as if tons of people get pregnant so easily? (I have several friends who got pregnant even while on birth control!)

I do believe that stress affects your ability to conceive, especially after reading this thread and seeing how when people actually stopped trying to conceive, they got pregnant.  This is reinforced by the fact that many people I know get pregnant when they're not trying.

Any one charting and analyzing mucus?  I notice that I rarely have the "fertile" mucus, and generally have dry days with very little tacky mucus...I think that has something to do with my difficulty conceiving.

Any updates from any prior posters?  Unfortunately, we have not had any luck. I'm currently ovulating now, so am crossing my fingers. I think we're moving on to the 3rd-4th time/month trying.  I do believe that the stress and anxiety of conceiving is getting to me, so I'm trying my hardest not to worry too much about it and just let things happen naturally.  I appreciate this thread and hearing about others' stories.  It gives me hope.

Here's a discussion topic:

So I know this has been covered time and again...but what are the ranges of calorie intake and burn that you guys are striving for?  I've been striving for a cal intake of approximately 1400-1500 and a burn of about 2000. That leaves me a deficit of the 400-500 cal range.  What about you guys?  Any suggestions to help boost the weight loss? (obviously, I know that working out goes hand in hand with calorie cutting. I do work out religiously, which provides a 300-400 calorie burn for me).

I may be a little late in posting, but we're TTC!  Last month was our first "official" month of actively trying.  I have been off the pill since September 2007, and started using NFP (natural family planning - temperature charting and mucus discharge watching) to avoid pregnancy until our wedding (11/07) and honeymoon (2/08) were done. We went on our honeymoon and hoped to conceive then, but due to the travel stress, my cycle was delayed by 3 weeks!  So last month (March) was the first month we used NFP to TTC with a regular cycle. Got my period, a week ago, so shuchs, no luck yet. We'll continue trying again this month, but I have about 2 more weeks till I'll be fertile. (I have long cycles -- approx. 36 days).  I'm hoping that I'll be one of those "lucky" ones, but, we'll see.

Pregnancy & Parenting Help!! Test Negative Period delayed Apr 17 2008

Hey, just two months ago, I was late by 2 weeks. I had previously been very consistent with having my period before day 36.   i had taken two home pregnancy tests which were both negative.  I finally wrote to my doctor after 1 week for advice. She said to give my period another 2 weeks and if no period, to come in for an eval.  She said sometimes, the cycle gets out of whack for various reasons (I think mine was because we had been out of the country for 2 weeks and my body clock got weirded out).  I eventually had my period on day 56.  But that was within the 2 week time period my doc said to wait before going in for an appointment. So my advice, call your doc and ask what he/she thinks, or wait 2-3 weeks to see if you get your period. If not, then go in for an appointment.    Good luck!

Hi guys! I'm reading to start participating in the weigh ins and becoming a regular participant in this forum again.  =)  I know weigh ins was yesterday, but here's where I'm at for yesterday: 133.2.  Today I'm already at 132.7.  =)  On Tuesday I was at 133.5.  So I'm slowing losing weight.  I fell off the band wagon a bit (since my wedding last November) but I've given myself a new goal to get to 125 (or at least maintain a trend line below 130) by June 1.  I'm excited, motivated and ready to lose that weight (again --- I got down to 127 for my wedding).  =)  I'm feeling good about things.  Now the real challenge is tonight - our neighbors are bit of partiers and they're going away on a trip, so they want to have a party.  There's lotsa snacking and alcohol at these occasions (which tend to happen every weekend), and I think these things are my downfalls.  So tonight, I need to attend armed with resolve.  I know I can do it.  =)

Hi all, I have not much advice to add and just more of my story to share.

I am using the NFP method to TTC.  We get the information and temperature kit free from our church (the catholic church endorses this form of birth control --- you can also use this method to TTC too).  We've been off BC since Sept 2007, but have been using NFP to avoid pregnancy until February 2008.  So now we are in our second month of TTC and still no luck.  I think I know generally around when I ovulate, but it's still difficult to tell (I have a hard time measuring my temps at the same time in the morning and my body has been irregular last month).  I've been reading about whether you should have sex every day during your ovulation time or just every other day (b/c it takes 24 hrs for his sperm to build back up). What do you guys think?

I'm glad I stumbled onto this forum, b/c I wasn't sure how long we should be trying before checking in with the doctor. I supposed we'll go till at least 9 months before seeking extra help.

I also heard there's a really good book called "Taking Control of Your Fertility" or something very similar that I should read.  Has anyone read it??

hi guys,

I've been a stranger to this forum as of late b/c i've been guilty of weight gain.  I'm scared to step on the scale, but this AM, I weighed myself after the gym workout (and water consumption) and saw that I was in the 135.something range. Yuck.  My goal is to get to 125 like many of you.  anyways, I just wanted to share that I'm here, and still logging my calories in (mostly) and am working hard at getting back to where I was before.

I've been off the pill since September 2007 and got my period the following month. I've consistently had periods since then but my cycle is very long (approximately 36 days) and last month, I didn't have a period for 55 days!!  (I've been on the pill for the previous 10 years).  I wasn't pregnant though b/c I took two pregnancy tests when I noticed my cycle going past my 36 day mark.  We're trying to get pregnant using NFP, but due to the apparent irregularity I'm having in cycles, it's difficult to tell if I'm fertile and ovulating.

Hi guys,

So I've been MIA this week because unfortunately, my weight news isn't the greatest either! (somewhere between 133.something and 134.something!!!) This weekend was a bust and then on Monday I also started TTOM.  (What gives??? We're all on the same cycle?? lol!). So my weight is not where I want it to be at this point.  Bleh!  However, I skimmed through the last couple of posts and realized that we're all appearing to be in the same boat -- TTOM and weight increase wise.  Well, thanks to your encourgement, I feel a smidge better about my bloated self and will continue to work through it.  Here's to hoping that we see something nice next wednesday.

Heather ~ CONGRATULATIONS on the new low!  So what's your game plan on weight loss (diet and exercise)? I'd love to know, b/c you're getting awesome results!!!

Simi - not sure where the sickness came from. Seems pretty tough to get a hangover from just two beers, no matter how low your tolerance (unless you've never drank before in  your life and you are a child).  Perhaps it's food poisoning or some type of stomach bug?

Margo - good luck on your weight loss competition with your dad!  I'd love to see 127 by May too!  Maybe I'll join in on the weight loss competiton (informally), so that I can push myself to get results too.

Ok, gotta run to an appointment.  Have a great weekend ladies!

Jen - you're on your way to 5 pullups!  wooohoo! congratulations.  I echo Margo's sentiments that you have such great adivce, you're like our ring leader!@

Margo - dont sweat being on the higher end of 130's --- I was there when I started this thing, so soon you'll be to where I am, and then hopefully, we'll both be where the other girls are!  =)  What's your ulitmate goal?

Greta - I may have missed you on your way to LV, but we just returned from there.  We spent 3 days there at the end of our honeymoon.  While there, we got to catch Howie Mandell's comedy act at the MGM. He's the host for deal or no deal.  We went on a recommendation from the half price ticket ladies (since he's not there permanently, just there for short while). He's actually very funny, andvery different from his hosting on deal or no deal.  I highly recommend him.  We also saw the Cirque Du Soleil show, Ka, at the MGM. That was ok. The stage theatrics was great, but the acrobating wasn't the best. I'd reccommend another cirque show instead of Ka.

Simi - congratulations on  your 127!!!!  Cant wait till I can report those numbers (again -- got there for my wedding in november then of course gained w/o the motivation).

And now - I've lost almost 2 pounds since yesterday!  Yay! I weighed in at 131.8 today (compared to 133.2 yesterday). So my water drinking worked. I've also begun a new mini goal to cut out sweets (except for one cheat day).  I'm guessing that's helping as well.

Jen ~ your back looks hot! Yes, get a lighter picture up -- that's a back to be proud of and show off!  Total inspiration for me. I want my back to look like that!  I did that butt plier squat thing yesterday at the gym. It worked my inner thighs more than my butt.  Did you notice that as well?

Simi ~ congrats on the new job! I LOVE the piano. I used to play when I was younger - for five years. Took a very brief refresher course at my local community college last year - but it was right before my wedding and had to drop out b/c of the time commitment.  I believe I will one day soon go back and take up lessons again.  The piano and acoustic guitar are my favorite instruments in music (except I cannot play guitar).

down .2 #s this a.m.  A small drop, but a drop nevertheless.  Happy Tuesday ladies. (going to fill up my water bottle now.....)

Hi, although I 'm new to the game (recently married in 11/2007) I'm getting tons of questions of....are you pregnant, so do you want kids, when are the kids coming? etc!  It sort of frustrates me and makes me feel pressured.  I find myself going down the "lie" routine, saying - "oh, we're going to enjoy each other and our marriage first" -- etc.  However, we are secretly trying and I'm afraid to tell anyone because I also feel as if we'll have difficulty conceiving.  We've been using natural family planning method to avoid pregnancy for the past several months, and this past February was the first time we've used it to try to conceive.  (Have you heard of it?)  So far no luck (but my period is 1 week late! I've taken two pregnancy tests and both turned out negative. I'm not sure what the deal is yet, so I may call the doctor by the end of the week if I still dont have my period.)  Anyways, I'm afraid that I'm in the same boat, and I can completely understand the anxiety you must feel when faced with tons of insensitive questions from others who can conceive by just "looking" at their spouse.  Frown  I'll also cross my fingers for you (as well as myself).
