I was once making a cake, I was maybe 13, and cracked open an egg to have a partially formed chicken spill out into the bowl. SOOO GROSS! I ran outside and refused to go back in the house until my mom got home and cleaned it up. I wouldn't eat eggs for years, and to this day if I need to deal with an egg (not often as I'm vegan) I crack it into a separate bowl, just in case.....

That oatmeal has a lot of sugar added. Maybe try plain oats with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice mix and a few raisins? I bet once you swap back in some veggies for the bread or raisin snacks, your levels will be a bit better. Salami also has an awful lot of fat, doesn't it? Maybe try having a big salad with assorted raw veggies, some beans and nuts for lunch or dinner?
Weight Loss Who's Had Success Following the CC Calorie Target? May 20 2008

When I followed it, I was losing weight really fast (too fast I thought, ~4lbs a week) but felt awful, I was actually able to eat about 300 calories more per day and still lose weight almost as fast (average still close to 4) and not feel so hungry and cranky all the time.

It seems to me any type of 'detox' like people refer to it on this site would probably be detrimental as being hungry and not feeling well will probably lessen your willpower not to drink. I would focus on eating as healthy as possible and still allowing yourself treats, and not limit your intake too much, so that you can focus your efforts on not drinking. Take things slowly....

I never have liked regular yogurt at all, but love love love all the soy yogurts I have tried. I really like the taste of soy milk in general though...

Weight Loss Nutrisystem May 13 2008

Nutrisystem is actually a big part of what made me switch to how I'm eating now and how I lost so much weight. But the details are: I ordered a month's supply of food and was so horrified by the idea of eating powdered eggs, fake chocolate bits and all of that I said what the heck am I doing to myself, gave the food away on Craigslist and started eating all whole foods. I decided my body and health were worth spending time preparing real food. My weekly produce delivery makes me so much happier than the sight of those horrible boxes of no-refrigeration-needed lasagna and instant fajitas! Please don't take offense if you tried it and it worked for you, or you liked the food!
Weight Loss How do I get rid of the thigh fat? My thinghs have always touched :( :( May 13 2008

No no, I agree that it's a ridiculous goal, but was saying that it's a little mean to say that a wide pelvis and slim legs is not a desirable sight, just as it would be mean if I were to say "thighs that touch make you look like a fat fatty" (which would be ridiculous)

I too posted in the other thread that it was a silly goal, skinny girls with thighs of all sorts and all that.

I have skinny chicken legs, especially in the thighs (as my brother called them in high school) and work very hard to make them less so (yes I lift real, heavy weights, squats of all sorts etc...) but they still don't touch. My husband calls them my shotguns.

sophiaeco, no need to pick on those of us with skinny legs. With bodies, we all need to learn that there is not really any 'supposed to'.
Weight Loss At what weight did your thighs stop touching? May 12 2008

I agree it's silly, spirochete, but I was thrilled recently when mine didn't touch anymore, even though I knew it was stupid and know teeny skinny girls without a space between their thighs.

I think it's because as a child my mom used to complain about her 'thunder thighs' so I internalized the whole 'thin thighs are good' thing, and also I remember reading in a Seventeen magazine when I was 11 or so that said the 'ideal' legs formed three diamonds, one between your thighs, one between knees and calves and one between calves and ankles.... stupid stuff from when we were kids sticking even when we know it's stupid....

My pain tolerance also goes down if I'm hungry, but eating really healthy food and exercising has helped me cut the length of time I get cramps in half! And now that I'm maintaining and not hungry, my period is much better than when I started this whole thing.

Stuff, especially veggie stuff, keeps better out of a fridge than people think. We're all really paranoid about food safety (ok, done with my mini-rant now).

I would make non-lettuce based salads like quinoa with lots of chopped up veggies, herbs and vinegar, or lentils with veggies. Cold potato salad made with a vinegar/tofu based dressing or oil-free pesto with other veggies mixed in can be low-cal and really filling. I've been into making a pesto with just roasted pistachios, basil and red-wine vinegar, putting it on steamed asparagus, sugar snap peas, fava beans, fiddle heads, whatever spring veggies, tossing with some sturdy greens and garbanzo beans, and calling that dinner.

Most grocery stores now have hummus, even in teeny, random midwest towns. I like to buy a tub of hummus and lots of veggies for dipping. Endive and baby bok choy are two of my favorites. Cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery, snow peas, broccoli, cauliflower, and baby zucchini all make good dippers (well I hate raw broccoli, but seem to be in the minority).
Foods what are calories in Groats vs Steel cut oats? May 12 2008
18:13 (UTC)

Steel cut uncooked is 150 for 1/4 cup which cooks up to about a cup, according to the packages on all of the steel cut oats I've ever bought. Rolled oats are 1/2 uncooked --> 1 cup cooked, also 150 cals.

I have a whiteboard with what I have ready to eat listed (stuff I've cooked or chopped up for lunches and all that) and a list of mostly produce that's waiting for me to use it up. I use this to figure out what to bring to work to eat during the day, and to figure out what I should cook or what I will need to buy to make more meals. I think a nice rhubarb/strawberry/apple bake sounds good for a treat tonight!

Yeah, I just ignore my weight the week before. For me, I think it's my digestive system not working as smoothly as usual, not so much water retention. But either way, I just eat healthy and keep up with the exercise, which helps when my period arrives, with cramps and all.
Weight Loss Tall Drinks of Water: 5' 11 May 07 2008

My weight when I started on this site was 249. I was 149 when I weighed myself this morning. I thought low 150s were working for me, but have been slowly still losing, because I guess I need more calories than I thought. I didn't know a few pounds would make a difference, but the last few have all come off my belly, and it's pretty flat now! I thought I was just going to have to learn to ignore the last bit of flab there, but maybe not! Now to up my calories a little more and hold steady.....

I think blueberries will 'goo' less than say raspberries or strawberries. I know from experience (a grocery unloading accident) that strawberries thaw into a mess!

Also I totally agree with you, supersized. I'm happy to get someone to change their eating habits at all, and don't really care what you call it. I only find labels useful when someone else is feeding you, to clarify what you're willing to eat a little bit.

Have you tried suits where you can mix and match tops and bottoms? That way you can find ones that support your boobs and fit perfectly on the bottom. I too am jealous of your chest. Get a suit that fits well and you will look awesome on the beach!
The Lounge Alli, Colon Cleanse, Special K Diet, Skinny Bitch - which fad makes you sigh and say "This Again?" when newbies post about it? Apr 30 2008
20:30 (UTC)

I happen to pretty much follow the 'Skinny Bitch' plan, but not because of the book. It's actually just a whole-foods, vegan lifestyle. I would argue that is very very different from eating two bowls of special k instead of meals. My eating a whole-foods, vegan diet is what I credit for the weight (about 100lbs!) falling off effortlessly, and I feel great. I'm not advocating the book, necessarily, just that you might want to do more than look at a title before you call a way of eating a fad or compare it to starving yourself.
