No calorie counting in my family when I was young. In fact, on this side of the lake, (England)  being a chubby kid was healthy. Darn the medics back then!!! I've never been a skiinny chick and have never wanted to be. I've said it before, Victoria Beckham is a bad role model, give me Jlo anyday, (without the attitude!)

Nancy, noooooooo! Come back!!! LOL I know what you're saying. I've gained over 2lbs this week because I'v been too tired to care. I kept thinking.......damage limitation, stop now! I've not been too bad today, just 500 calories all day but that's cos I've been asleep for most of it!!! I've not exercised at all for 2 weeks cos I'm so tired, all the time. I go to bed fall asleep, wake up worrying if the kids school clothes are clean, the bills are paid, what shift am I on tomorrow, will I ever get back to sleep, which I do, just before the alarm goes off!!!! Am now sat here with a nice cold beer thinking I should eat something because I have alcohol in my hand but then if I don't eat I wont take on anymore calories!!! Grief, is this what it's like to be in your 40's? I wanna go back to my twenties boo hoo!

This has nothing to do with anything that's recently been written, sorry, but I have to write. I've had a really lousey day, hubby moaned at me, my boss moaned at me, my boss's boss moaned at me and then my kids moaned cos I'd cooked a decent meal and to top it off I crashed on my diet!!! My little sister phoned whilst I was taking it all out on my house cleaning and advised I put my music on.....loud! I have just danced, really danced, around my lounge for over half hour and feel great, sweaty, hot puffed out, but great!!!!

Going back to Marianne Williamson, " It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us" I disagree, my favourite quote is not a famous one cos it's one I made myself, it's "If you're in the dark, switch the light on!"

I don't know if this is true but I read an article today that says reading a racy book can help weight lose!!!!! Why the government pay for this type of research I don't know, but I think I might go buy a Jackie Collins book, the racier the better apparently! It might be English extentricity but hey, I'm English and will give it ago!

I have also been taking green tea. Luckily it doesn't give me gas but makes me lay off the caffeine. Also psychologically makes me feel better and stick to the diet.

I'm a veggie and truelly believe taking an Omega 3 oil, flax seed, dose has really helped me. My weight loss, though slow, has been consistant since taking one-a-day.

Shearsfam never weigh yourself the day after a treat!!!! The scales will only tell you how much you weigh because of the food you ate the day before! I now just wait until a weigh day. Thanks to this forum it is on a Friday. Don't get despondant, you haven't cheated! There is no diet in this world that would deny a mum celebrate her child's birthday x

Point taken pgeorgian. I do see what you are saying about personal responsibility, and to a point I agree, but try saying to a manager, sorry I was late back from lunch, it took my ages to prepare my salad and then slowly chew it to stop me from getting indegestion!!!! I'd be in sooooo much trouble.!!!!!!!!!!!!Actually I quite like that idea! I just might try it tomorrow hee! hee! (secret rebel!)

tankgirl, that maybe the answer! Anyone out there with a medieval rack that we can borrow? No need to loose weight, we'll just get stretched!!!! I think I'd like to be 5'10/11". At this rate I think it would be easier than losing these last few stubborn pounds!!!!! (Happy belated birthday anyway)

nycgirl, why are you weighing yourself daily? I thought that was a bad thing. Every one weighs different every day, thought that was common knowledge, stick to once or twice a week.

Just saying hi and wishing you all well. I'll not be weighing myself on Friday, I have had a really stressful 5 days with a sick, hospitalised child and have succumbed to the evil of pizza, cheese and crackers and crisps and it's only Tuesday. I'll be back on track tomorrow but now due TTOM! Stress does cause me to be weak and give in! But tomorrow I will begin again, so all the best to everyone else and I'll weigh in next Friday xxx

Going back to the tense way of life, when man first existed all he had to worry about was survival of the fittest. Now-a-days we have a lot more stresses in life, I think that our own personal health, (sorry guys) but especially women, have a lot more stresses to deal with. Society today makes it so much easier to be overweight because of time restrictions on everyday living. Tell me, are there any stores, garages, corner shops that don't sell quick convenience foods, that we can't munch on in 5 mins, that are low fat except clothes shops! Even sports shops sell special high carb drinks and snack bars. Also, personally speaking, my hectic life stye leads me to not to have breakfast, grab a pastry snack at lunch, makes me too tired to prepare a healthy tea/supper and drink too much wine. Being tired makes it harder for me to have more self control. Whilst not being over weight I do find it difficult to have this self control on quite a few days simply due to the way my life is!

Laura, just don't give up. I have a bean pole hubby and 2 skinny kids! Sure I got given the wrongs ones in the maternity unit!!!! Anyway, I plateau'd for about 3months and decided I am not giving in, I will be thinner!!! Well I am back to losing weight. We will be thinner,we will succeed (cos sucking in our cheeks wont work!)

Going back to the activity list, does it say any thing about how much you lose by intensely scrubbing a tiolet after a patient has had severe diarrohea everywhere!!!! Taking into account that you feel that bad afterwards you don't eat anything!!!! I must have lost at least 400cals!!!!

41 years young and trying to get back to pre baby weight from 15years ago! Weight loss is slow but steady, trouble is trying to do things I did 15 years ago like .............horse riding. I went for the first time on Tuesday and haven't been able to cross my legs since!!!! I don't creak when I walk but do go "ow! ow! ow!" Haven't been able to do the lateral thigh trainer for 4 days cos of it! Think I shall stick to 40 year old type of exercise!

My weight continues to go down, yeah! It's very slow but still it is a loss. Tankgirl.......how tall are you because I started at 11.4st and am down to 10.7st. Going to loose another 3-7lbs cos I'm 5'7" and look awful if I go below 10st.

I'm 5'7" and weigh 147, english size 14 though can wear a 12 also. Is that a 12/10 american size? I've never been any smaller than a 12 even when I was 140lbs which is apparently an ideal weight for someone of my hieght and bone structure (medium)
