Heh, an ice cold Corona w/ lime. (Sorry, I just had to. LOL) I have such issues with drinking the correct amounts of water each day, and like so many here, I too indulge in the Crystal light to curb the lack of flavor that just plain water provides. Ice cold is DEFINITELY the best way to drink all of the water you need. Right or wrong, I drink bottled water only; I cannot stand the taste of tap water, even in good old Colorado where it's supposed to be some of the best tasting tap water. LOL |

Red meat: steak or prime rib, all of it moo'ing at me. I usually order medium rare. LOL. I dont' get the normal craving for sweets that most people get, which is probably a very good thing. LOL If I had my way, it would be steak - all day, every day, for 5 solid days. LOL |

I've heard of the Sweetleaf Stevia but haven't tried it yet; as soon as all the Splenda is gone from the cupboard, I'm investing in some of that. Can it be used for baking, I wonder? Must do more research...LOL. Thanks for reminding us about this option! *ETA* According to the website, you CAN cook/bake with the Stevia. :) I've linked it below just in case anyone else is interested. :) Sweetleaf Website |

I'm like you, girl4moon - I absolutely HATE to drink water; the thought that I should be drinking - what - 64 oz. per day? - totally turns my stomach. I'll do it, though, just because I should. LOL. Diet Coke Plus for me - I have 1-2 per day, just depends on the mood. Should start cutting it out, but I get mad headaches from caffeine withdrawal, so the slower THAT happens, the happier my household is. LOL! Aside from that, I am a huge fan of Crystal Light's Raspberry Green Tea. (Gotta have some flavors, because I can't stand plain green tea..) IN fact, I have a fresh container in the fridge waiting for me at lunchtime. LOL. |

I WISH I had my MIL back to tell me something off-color like that. (Not that she would, she was an awesome woman....) Unfortunately, she passed away last year and it was like losing a best friend for me. She may get under your skin sometimes, but be glad you have that family, even if they don't always say things that please you. That said, are you doing this for her or for yourself? We all have our reasons for wanting to lose however much weight we need/want to, but it really is something that has to be met with YOU in mind, not your husband, and definitely NOT your MIL. I hopped on this bandwagon yesterday. Yep, yesterday, and why? Because my husband, who is in the military, wants to get back into shape & shed some poundage. This has happened before, but I never hopped on board until now because I was never truly unhappy with myself. While I am still not completely UNhappy, I know that at 240 pounds, I really do need to lose weight, for the sake of my health before I start losing it. Am I doing this for my husband? At first, I thought I was; thought it would be much easier because I was helping to be supportive of HIS needs, but guess what? Last night when we returned home from grocery shopping with a cart load of much healthier food (we didn't eat so badly before, but meh), I found my stomach turning briefly with guilt when he handed me a root beer float he made us to use up the leftover ice cream in the freezer. I had the calorie allowance there for it, but I honestly felt bad, and that's when I realized that this was now about ME, and not just about being supportive of HIM. So it may be a wee bit off tangent, but when someone makes a comment like that to you again, try to remember that you aren't doing this for anyone else but YOU., and screw what other people think. Ahem. LOL |

| I've always heard that the first 10 pounds of weight loss is water weight, and have always tried to stick with that assumption, mostly to not get overly-confident. LOL. Another thing, too, is that you should weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after you use the restroom but before you have a meal. Is there anyone here that can confirm these details? Good luck in your weight loss progression, j1n! |

I'm interested in knowing this as well, so thanks for posting this, Shelly. Currently, I'm at 225 with a suggested goal weight of 135; however, I'd be happy with 150. My suggested calorie intake is 1750. Since I'm brand new here (as in just signed on today), I'm hoping to really get some good info from this site. Thanks in advance to those of you with most knowledgable insight that reply! :) |
