| don't know about all of you out there but I give just about anything to have a complete set of pink dumb bells, at all weights (e-bay here I come... lol) ... I know all my GF's would be terribly jealous and all my male friends would never touch them... lol... truthfully though if pink is what works for you then use pink, you're the one working out. While you may eventually decide to use another colour so long as you're happy and getting the results you want no one else should say anything but supportive things. | |||

| Yes fruit is full of sugar and Carbs, but if you're eating it in moderation, say a handful of grapes, an apple, or a medium sized banana then there's no harm. If you're like me and actually physically crave sweets, try the sugar free gummy bears... lol... trust me they're sweet but you'll only eat too much once (in a lot of people they have a laxative effect if you eat too many which is a great deterant from binging) Just remember too much of anything isn't good for you | |||

| How much protein you should intake is typically calculated as
Weight in Kilograms x 0.8 So in Lbs its lbs/2.2*0.8= Daily Recomended Protein If you want some good protein substitutes go to the Canada Food Guide on the web and it will let you know not only what foods are good alternate non-meat protein substitutes. This site will also allow you to build your own nutrition guide based on foods you eat. |

| sounds like it might be out of allignment. Basically it's kind of like a partial dislocation though not exactly. It's not too difficult to do though especially if you're playing a sport like basket ball, all it takes is one 'good turn'. One easy test to see if it's this is to have him sitting in a chair and see if he can straiten his let (it will probably hurt like mad and be difficult/impossible to do) If your brother can't straiten his leg or has difficulty doing so go to a doctor ASAP. They can properly diagnose him and correct the problem. If it is out of allignment it could cause permanent damage if not corrected. | |||

| I don't think it was intended as rude... it was definately a stupid thoughtless thing to say... but perhaps she just saw a show on the concentration camps and the gauntness of the survivors made an impression... that being said I would definatly mention her comments to the doctor, at the very least he/she should have a conversation with the receptionist regarding appropriate office conversation. | |||

| doorfry I can soo relate to the doctor... I had one recently tell me I was obese and that I should lose weight... I just calmly looked him in the eye (giving him the sugary look of death) and told him calmly that I'd already lost 100lbs and that he was an illiterate A-Hole... My weight loss was clearly documented on my chart :)... which he was holding in his hands... The look on his face was absolutely priceless... lol... I sooo wish I'd had my camera there to document it... lol | |||

| I kept my clothes for a year (just to be sure I didn't need them anymore) then I gave them to good will... they always have a severe shortage of clothing to fit larger women... I just recently took another pile of too big clothing out of my closet (they're in storage now) and if in a year I still don't fit into them off they go to good will | |||

I'm sure I just do what I'm sure everyone else does... bite my tongue, roll my eyes, and vent here... lol | |||
| The Lounge | Would you go hiking alone? | Sep 25 2007 15:50 (UTC) |
25 |
| I'm perhaps a bit nieve but I go hiking by myself all the time, not in wild hog country but in areas where cougars, bears, and coyotes are not uncommon. (I've never seen much more than the occasional coyote though)... Fortunately cougars and bears tend to hear people coming and avoid them... Hogs though can be aggressive from what I'm told... still they'd probably rather avoid confrontation with a person... I wouldn't worry about them too much... however if they're like coyotes then don't bring a dog... a dog can be seen as an aggressor, it's instinct is to attack the wild animal... and will cause the animal to attack (this I have seen happen) | |||

| Chalk up the lasagna breakfast as a 'duh/hungry' moment, log it into your count, then have a small lunch so that you don't collapse during the day (veggie sandwich or something similar)... then have a smaller portion of the pot pie for dinner. This should keep you fairly close to your allowance for the day... and if you're over it's not the end of the world... going overboard every once and a while won't ruin your 'diet' or set you back too much (if at all). | |||

| k... I think I'm perhaps a bit odd... I've trained my cat to do dog tricks... she will sit up and beg for treats, shake a paw, come when called, fetch (so long as it's very light) it's really funny/cute though and she always purrs. My other cat does all these and likes to be carried around upside down (head pointing to the floor)... if I try to carry him right side up he falls backwards expecting me to catch him so that he's pointing head down... then he purrs like mad... it's funny but I guess he likes the view.
Another cute thing both cats do is they always greet me at the door in the morning and in the evening when I get home from work, they get quite upset if I don't say good morning/hello to them. |

| If your accent pieces like purse and hair accessories and shoes (make sure they're absolutely amazing... big brownie points are always awarded for great shoes) are darker then go for it... the white after labour day rule isn't a strict rule... Just avoid white accessories like the plague... they'll make you look like you're desperately clinging to summer. | |||

| I have to be honest, dating a 300lb guy doesn't phase me... I don't find skiny men particularly attractive. But a 450lb guy that scares the heck out of me. Unfortunately I'm far to familiar with the serious health impacts that kind of excess weight can cause... High Blood Pressure, high cholesterol, Type Two Diabeties, Sleep Apnea, Acid reflux (this was my personal fav... nothing like acid gas), increased risk of a fatal heart attack before 45, and impotence/low sex drive (yay). I lived through this with my X. Though I can't say I wouldn't date a guy who's 450 if he was Mr. Wonderful and we really connected he would have to be aware of why I hesitate, and be willing to try to be healthy (like I'm trying to learn to be). | |||

| I must admit I found this forum a serious flashback... lol... used to happen to me all the time when I worked at 7/11. All I can say about the creepy older men is take it as they most likely intend it, as a complement. They find you attractive. By no means encourage them though... LOL... this might lead to some very entertaining moments for your friends as you try to explain what happened but not so funny for you. Be sure to set a very clear boundary... meaning flirting with you though creepy is fine, the guy who brought in the drawings that's going to far and you might want to let him know that while you appreciate the effort you're not aloud to accept as a matter of store policy... it usually works (they get the hint) | |||

| I have a few pet peeves...
1) People who get angry at me for having adopted two special needs cats. They seem to think iit's my fault they're oddballs. If I hadn't taken them in who would have? 2) Stupid doctors who tell me to lose weight... duh... I'm on a doctor supervised regime... it's right there in my file. have to admit though I am the person who ticks off the parking lot vultures... it's always been a favorite thing of mine to walk around in the parking lot during christmas time watching them follow me until they give up (I never take my car to the mall that time of year) |

| The Lounge | 8 month old cat keeps beating up kitten? | Aug 22 2007 17:12 (UTC) |

| Soda may hate the little cat right now... it's a territory thing... give it time... when the kitten is bigger they will have a few spats but then they'll most likely end up ignoring eachother for the most part. I have a female cat who hates sharing her space or her people and she's learnt to live with other cats... when it comes to it though let them spat and don't interfere unless it looks as if one of them is getting seriously beaten... then glass of water will do the trick. It's unnerving and loud but it's just them establishing a pecking order, and it's normal. | |||

| I have a bit of a bone to pick with some of the men here who say curvy doesn't apply to women who are 5'5" and 180lbs... I'm 5'4" and 180lbs and have a perfect hourglass figure (and a rather small waist), not to mention I happen to be a woman who just hiked up a friggin mountain sunday just for the heck if it. I think perhaps your definition of curvy/fat needs to be reassessed a bit... had I been fat I probably would not have been able to make it to the top... lol... if you stick to your fairly narrow views that's fine I suppose... lol... this forum is supposed to be one of tollerance :)... I just think you're seriously limiting yourself | |||

| Diane,
So far in total I've lost about 120 pounds give or take (I don't know my maximum weight... only what I weighed after two months of losing already) and no loose skin here. I think if you lose gradually your skin shrinks with you, I've been working at this slowly for the last 3.5 years. Lots of exercise helps too :) good luck |

| Weight Loss | Where does the fat go? | Aug 15 2007 18:58 (UTC) |

| fat cells don't go away (unless surgery is involved) or magically turn into muscle. They simply shrink as the 'fat' stored in the cells is gradually used by your body. | |||
| The Lounge | What happened to Barbie's boobs???? | Aug 14 2007 21:54 (UTC) |

| I still don't see the need to change Barbie... as a child I looked at her and knew that she couldn't be real, I still thought she was pretty (and a great co captain). Most little girls who played with the old barbie knew she wasn't shaped like a real woman but still thought she was pretty as well. Why would parents be so paranoid, if they thought barbie was a negative image of women they should either not buy them or talk to their daughters. That's way easier than fighting with an international toy company to change the apperance of a doll.
btw.. bratz dolls are freakish looking... lol... but that's me seeing them as an adult. My parents probably thought barbie was freakish looking as well... lol |
