| I'm having some troubles staying on track. Last night I binged on Mac and Cheese. I hate that I did that. I was doing good until I went to my parents house. I just didn't feel like eating healthy. So when I was running errands I tried convincing myself, "I'll make a salad, and a baked potato when I get home" and I ended up stopping at my parents place and saw they had spaghetti and mac and cheese and I ate all that I could. *sigh* It's terrible, really terrible.
I'm stuck at 203 and I'm getting aggravated. Any help? Support? Suggestions? Someone lock me up in my house and feed me?!!? aNNEH |

| Put me for a restart as of yesterday. I have ate terrible the last four days and didn't make up for it by exercising. That is one of my stipulations, if I want to eat crappy/lots of cals, I gotta get exercising on those days.
I'm doing better today but I just hope it lasts. :) Hows everyone? |

| So, I think I'm starting to realize that you HAVE to exercise in order to help shed pounds. I've been trying to completely change my eating habits but I can't beat the weekends. It's almost like I use it as a break from my diet, my work, and other things.
I eat fine during the week, just enough to get me through the day, and that's all the energy I have (eating about 1200 calories Monday-Thursday). Then Friday night I just go crazy and Saturday and Sunday are never any good either. So lets say I keep doing this, going crazy on Friday, Saturday, Sunday...could I make up the extra calories/bad food (for NOW, not saying I'm going to let it stay like this forever but until I adjust) by working out (not just walking) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and walking 30 minutes on my lunch break Monday-Thursday (no walking during Friday, I have a lunch date with a friend at work). I need help because I feel like I'm going nowhere. I feel like I failed terribly the last four days, but I know, just get back on the wagon today and do better now instead of thinking about the past. Please please help! |

| Reb, you don't have to cut it out completely, if you really love it like I do, limit yourself, if you do really well, feel really good about what you eat throughout the weeks/days then treat yourself to a well proportioned (meaning, not too much over) mexican meal, if you think you'll over eat, have them box half of your meal up right away and then dig into your food. have your husband take your to go box so you wont' open it up and eat at it. | |||

| reb I restarted like 2-4 times RIGHT AWAY! I felt terrible, but it reminded me the next time my boyfriend wanted me to eat something unhealthy. You really need to do what is best for you, since you are with your husband all the time, tell him to not ask you if you want to go, say "I really wanna do this for myself." Make sure he knows you are dead serious about it! I told my boyfriend that I really wanted to do it for myself and the next time we went out ... we went to Sonic and he said 'are you sure you want to eat here?' (he was going to still obviously, but he asked, and it made me feel better)...but I told him how I did really good all week and that I'm only getting a sandwich and eating a few of HIS fries so it was ok, lol. It isn't perfect, but you can't be perfect right away! Make adjustments, then make more adjustments when you get used to those, and keep going like that.
You really have to remember why you're doing it, you have a great support system on here, and keep in the back of your mind that you can't be perfect yet, but next time you eat out, eat your chips and salsa (they aren't perfect, but order WATER or UNSWEETENED ice tea, it helps with the sodium/salt of the meal) and only eat one enchilda, and also dear, remember to take your time to eat, cus usually you'll feel worse if you keep eating! :) Good luck sweetie. |

| Congratulations mabear!
I need suggestions for cheap food that is healthy! I love sandwiches but they can get so expensive after you buy everything for them. I really was trying to do a healthy breakfast, cereal or nutrigrain bar (depends on time allotted), and then lunch, a sandwich, throughout the day popcorn, and then for supper whatever I decide to make and a salad. Oh, and throughout the day I also try and snack on a small amt of nuts and some grapes, which I can't afford. Any suggestions? Anneh |

| OK, I recently moved out on my own, and my dad volunteered to pay for my Internet and Cable.. I told him I didn't need it but he insisted. Anyway, I really don't have much money so I guess my biggest question is how can you eat CHEAP and still eat RIGHT? Last time I went grocery shopping I bought the healthy things, and I spent about 10-20 dollars more than I normally would've and it didn't last me nearly as long. Any suggestions? I really like sandwiches and it's easy for me to prepare for lunches for work.
My dad said to me this morning: "Beans and bread until you can find a another PT job or until you have your credit cards paid off" and I literally wanted to cry because I knew that wouldn't work with what I am trying to do now. Lose weight. Plus, beans and bread? How depressing! |

| The rum and diet cola isn't what is hurting you right now. Fixing what you used to eat to what you want to eat now are two separate things. Figure out the alcohol thing later, if you adjust your foods for the most part (ie, not cutting out the alcohol) then you'll be able to have your rum and diet colas still.
We are all here for you dear. |

| I'm having the same problem with my friends. My friends are like oh lets go here, lets go there, and really none of the things at these fast food places or restaurants really make me want to eat there, especially after a full day of eating properly.
Sarah, you and I both need to really say "I'm sorry, I'm really trying to eat the right kinds of food." Being a chick, I doubt they'll give us any grief, but for guys, I could see it being a bigger problem (getting teased by your friends). Sarah, all you can really do if you don't want to say something to them is watch what you eat at other parts of your day, and don't eat as much, put a portion of your food in a to go container, if they ask questions, just say you ate a lot earlier in the day and are fuller than you thought. :) |

| How do you know if you are pushing yourself too fast? I always put myself under a lot of pressure to eat better so when I eat even slightly bad I think I'm not doing good anymore. But, I have been staying good throughout the day and at night I haven't been improving at all (well, somewhat, no fast food at all and watching somewhat what I eat).
I've also started taking walks over my lunch brk at work (30-minutes). But I always feel like I should come here and say "RESTART" because I ate a hundred calories over my limit. What does every1 think? |

| I was supposed to eat 2 bowls of Total, a handful of grapes, and some celery with low fat peanut butter on it last night for supper/before bed and I didn't do any of that. Instead I had a sloppy joe sandwich from my parents house, added a slice of cheese to it and had a small handful of doritos. :-( | |||

| That is a great idea itsmytime. It really might just work. I kept trying to tell myself that (not out loud) last night and it just didn't seem to work very well...
But I'm pretty sure I know why I was so hungry...its because I ate McD's with a friend of mine (she suggested it, not me) and I ate bad food so I think since it was not filling stuff like fiber foods and stuff I would normally eat on my "diet/new lifestyle" that it made me hungry faster. When is the best time to weigh yourself? How frequently does everyone else do it? I don't have a scale so I have to go to my parents to weigh in. |

| I love cheese more than most probably. I was told when I was about 12 years old that I was slightly allergic to dairy products and that I could only eat 1 type of dairy product (1 slice of pizza, 1 serv mac and cheese) every three days and 1 - 8oz glass of milk every day. What in the hell were they thinking? But I really need to go back to that idea because some of the new products ... ice cream with no dairy (try tofutti ice cream, it's a healthy alternative and it tastes exactly like homemade ice cream YUM) or Amy's NON-DAIRY burritos. They are extremely tasty, a little pricey, but they are good for one meal.
If you absolutely can't get away from the cheese try low/red-fat mozzarella. It's really tasty and it's a healthier substitute than cheddar, american, etc. White cheeses are better than yellow cheeses. |

| I've been doing pretty well during the week. Eating small meals about 5 x's a day and then going to bed about 1+ hours after my last meal (I have always had a problem with eating at night and sometimes I work late so I can't help but eat that close to bed).
Two questions... 1. How do you not eat so close to bed time? It is hard for me to get to sleep if I have an empty stomach. Any suggestions? 2. How do you not overeat on the weekends? I have all this resting time and that's what I want to do, relax and enjoy my two days off. I have friends that eat like crap though, so I just really don't know how to not overeat. Sometimes my friends will want to go to buffets and lately I have better excuses like "I really don't have any money to spend on that stuff." But still, sometimes my parents end up wanting to buy me lunch or supper, what do you do then? It is hard for me to refuse free food when I've got JUST enough money to get by on my own. I guess I have a third question... My dad is extremely overweight, I believe he's reaching 400 lbs...and I know he is struggling to kick the bad eating habit as well...is there any way besides calling him everyday to see what he has ate...to help him out? |

| Dee, I just saw your profile. I'm so very proud of you! I'm about 10 lbs heavier then when you started so it is a great motivation to stay on track when I see what improvements you've made.
Any secrets? Anything that helped a lot? I need to be restarted after this weekend. I seem to do especially well throughout the week and then it gets to the weekend and it's like I never was on a diet to begin with. Any tips on getting over the weeekend part? Anne |

| I would like to join :-D This sounds like a lot of fun, and it gives me a great excuse to not eat shitty, especially when my friends or boyfriend are around, I can just say "Sorry, I'm in a contest" :-D
What all do I have to do besides staying in calorie goal range and no binging, nothing I wouldn't eat normally... by the way, this means limiting myself to fast food only a couple times a week. |

| I just want to say that I probably love milk more than anyone on this site. When I was about 12 years old I was told by my doctor that I had a slight allergy to dairy products. I absolutely LOVE dairy products, and I never cut them out. I drink skim milk and limit myself on other dairy products.
I've tried Soy milk and gross, I've tried non-dairy products and some of them are ok, but soy cheese is gross. I absolutely love the TOFUTTI sandwich bars, they make them small so it allows you to not eat as much and plus tofu has a lot of goodness in them. So if you crave ice cream, try these healthy tofu sandwich bars. I know, before you say "EW, TOFU!" ...Tofu has no taste, therefore allowing you to make the tofu taste like whatever you want. Just be careful because tofu can have lots of calories. Amy's food brand also has some really tasty non-dairy (less fat, healthier) foods. I really like her frozen burritos, they are great for lunches! |

| I just read that:
Gin, rum, vodka, tequila, etc. all have about 65 calories per one ounce shot. Which means it really just depends on what you mix it with. Like I said before, Tequila and Crystal Light I've heard tastes great. Diet soda should be avoided, but if it can't, I guess those are your calories. I believe the lowest carb beer is either Michelob Ultra (BLEH!) or Miller Light (which is actually not too bad). Or maybe, you should just not drink anymore you lushes! :-D |

| I've never drank this drink, but I have heard that it is one of the lowest cal/sugar drinks they make. Gin and tonic, if you like it, choose it. It is probably a little pricey, but you won't need as much to get drunk (especially if that is what you are after, having a good time with friends).
Other good low cal/low sugar drinks: Try Crystal Light with tequila, supposedly it takes like margaritas. :) Irish Whiskey is also very tasty, try an Irish Mist. |

| Thank you for all your insight. It really helps to know that other people are in the same shoes I am. I am so tired of being overweight, I want to be able to go to the beach and lake and slip into a bikini and have all the guys look at me. :) It isn't even about that in all honesty, to be able to look at myself in the mirror and go "Dayum..." is probably the best feeling in the world, but I wouldn't know that because I haven't been on the thinner side for some time now. :(
I asked my boyfriend if he would ever switch to Diet Mountain Dew, and he said, "No way will I ever ever switch". He drinks 5+ (often over 5) cans of mountain dew a day. Ugh, he eats a lot, but just think if he could cut that down or go to Diet. We ate pizza last night, but I only had two slices, I used to be able to eat 3 or more. And, we worked it off in bed, so I hope that makes up for eating pizza. :-? I'm so confused on how many calories (after calories burned/really eaten) I should end up with. Some people say it is 1200 calories should be your total end...which means I'm not eating enough (after my calories burned)...my totals were 1600 eaten - 1000 burned.........??? I felt full most of the day yesterday, or at least content. Any help on that? |

| I'm sorry to butt in, but I'm new to the site, so I'm trying to figure out where I'm supposed to be at with calories.
Lets say I don't do any extra exercise, I should be taking in about 1200 calories? If I do decide to exercise then I have to bump up my calories to make up for whatever I am burning, correct? |

| I'm new. I am 5'4 and weigh at 205lbs. I was up to 215 at one point but I've been trying to lower my portion sizes. I really want to be thin again, I've always been overweight at whatever age I was and it would just be really great to get to the size no one thinks I can get to. :) My ultimate goal is 5'4 - 128lbs. But I am allowing myself about 16 months to lose it all. That's 77 pounds. Any tips?
I don't want to lose it too fast because I don't want to have extra saggy skin that I'll have to get removed by surgery, is there any way of avoiding that? My boyfriend is overweight too, how do you not give in to the guys? He likes to eat whatever he feels like eating, and I care a lot about him and don't want to have to just up and leave him because I want a lifestyle change. I want him to change with me, but you can't just force someone into that, they have to want to. Any suggestions at all? |
