Weight Loss i gained 4 lbs!!!! Oct 24 2007

Liz, I'm sorry to tell you but you may be simply trying too hard. Workouts should ideally be no more than 45, 60 minutes tops; much further than that and your body starts releasing cortisol which is counter productive to your goal. Hang in there, it may take some experimenting and not to minimize your feeling but we are only talking about 5lbs. You'll get there and it never seems quick enough for any of us.

Personally I just cant understand for the life of me how someone can be addicted or for that matter even have the slightest urge to put a bunch of laboratory ingredients down their throat that degrade into even scarier things once ingested. Nope I just cant understand it. If it hasn't come from the ground or a tree, I'm not eating it. If there are ingredients that the average person doesn't know what they are, the advertisers can and will stoop to any level to get you to pay money for it then ingest this stuff. Don't do it and if you are doing it, stop doing it. The American people are smarter than this, take a moment and think before you eat. Be well.

Kebler, I can only say I have been experiencing similar symptoms for nearly a year. After having a number of tests the Dr's have concluded I have something called peripheral neuropathy; a decrease in nerve function most commonly associated with diabetics however I am not diabetic. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it's not from unknowingly consuming some evil Chinese products the way things are going these days. Long story short if it continues or worsens, especially with any associated changes in color or temperature I would see the Dr immediately as it can be any number of things and it can be nothing, hopefully it's the later. Incidentally not to take the place of a Dr's visit but when this started I was strictly vegan and it is my believe that this contributed to a Vitamin B12 deficiency which is not uncommon in vegans and has been well documented. Between supplementing with hefty doses of B12 daily, then weekly, then monthly along with Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL and Alpha Lipoic Acid supplementation and some diet modifications I have experienced some significant relief. Best of luck.

xxbonita - I have a hunch your gaining because of a little chemical in our bodies called cortisol. Between your starvation calorie deprivation, working out on that amount of calories your body is looking to hold on to every fat cell it can for dear life and avoiding burning fat at any cost. Once I understood this I went from a tight fitting 46 waist to a very loose fitting 38 waist and dropping. In your body's best interest I can't suggest strongly enough for you to up your calorie intake. Then depending on your age, your bmr maybe up your time and effort of your workout. It worked for me, hopefully it can be of help for you as well. Be well.
Motivation The most motivating thing that happened to you..... Oct 02 2007

The most motivating thing for me was losing everything I ever had. My health, my career, my home, my life savings. Per my earlier post I had to take charge of myself and I did with more returns than I ever imagined possible. When all else falls rock bottom never does.

Cute_cheeks18, maybe this post I wrote recently will be of some small amount of motivation for you. -

I recently turned 50 years old which I wasn't thrilled about, I'm disabled due to a stroke, chronic pain, and a number of others health related issues. I am 6'2" tall, In the summer of 2006, I reached my all time record high weight of 270lbs plus. Since that time I have pushed myself regardless and relentlessly in hopes of improving my health status and it has and is paying off. Since monitoring my calories and weight here at caloriecount.com and in conjunction with another program I am now 3.5 lbs away from a 15 record low weight and 5 lbs away from my entire adult lifetime record weight and mind you that includes building some considerable and beautiful muscle. My goal is approximately 180lbs, nearly 100 lbs, and I have NO doubt I will reach it. I cannot begin to tell you how good it feels and how good I am feeling; it's been worth every single drop of sweat, every painful, uncomfortable, feeling like I can't do it and doing it anyway moment. Do yourself a favor; don't cry when your sweating it about losing 5 or 10 lbs or sometime much more and when you can't help crying take yourself by the shoulders, shake yourself, slap yourself, do whatever your have to do to get through it, concentrate on your goal, don't give up, get tough, you will get there. Lets Roll.

Fitness How Many Calories Do You Burn At The Gym?? Sep 26 2007

On lighter days and not counting what I burn being alive I'll work off about 400 calories or so. Then there are those few days a week between my power weight training of average about 60 plus minutes and circuit training, another 45 - 60 minutes I'll burn as many as 1300, I think my record is just under 1400 in a day. Best of all I am seeing results as I have lost a considerable amount of body fat and gained an appreciable amount of solid muscle mass. I have many motivating factors and refuse to compromise my commitment and dedication regardless of how difficult it is at times until I reach my goal.

Hi Mel:-) Mel, about your question regarding weight training it sounds to me like your doing what I did today; lactic acid training and for that specific routine you simply start with a weight that you can do at least 20 reps with then rest for 20 seconds and do another 8 or 10 reps repeating this for 4 sets. Yes your sore, but you also get results. I have been following a training program called metabolic surge through www.fitstep.com (Tell em Mike sent ya) and although it is not for everyone I have had excellent results with it losing over 30 lbs of fat and gaining significant solid muscle mass in just 4 months or so. Good luck.

burliminator, I wouldn't even want to imagine but per www.ihop.com:

» Is nutritional information available?

IHOP offers a wide variety of food that should allow most people to choose a meal that suits their dietary needs. We do not maintain nutritional data on our food.

Yeah, diet drinks are about as harmless as white bread. You do know why it's white don't you? Bleach makes it white, yes bleach. The power of advertising; they'll get you to eat anything.

tyrdrop, I'm not sure what your motivation is for supplementing protein be it vegetarianism or building mass or something else entirely but in any event if you want the best deal on line try www.vitacost.com. I have found their prices absolutely unbeatable and as far a protein I feel one of the best on the market is Optimum Nutrition's 100% whey protein with 120 calories per serving, 1 g fat, 3 g carbs and 24 g protein. Good luck.

I have to agree with kae1106. Your in a stall and without uping your calories your body is going to hold on to everything it can for dear life. Up your calories a periodically and at the magic number you'll once again see the weight start to come off. Guaranteed.

Sytso, Don't give up. You can do this. You know you can, you did it before and if you truly want to you can and you will do it again. Perhaps it would help instead of completely eliminating all the foods your love so much, give yourself a cheat day once every 12 days - 2 weeks or so and have something you really enjoy yet try to continue monitoring your portion size then go back to no exceptions for the remainder of time. Hope it helps, I'm rooting for you, Sytso! Sytso, Sytso, Gooooo Systo!
