I was going to post here and was all excited.
Til it turned into a debate rather than motivation.
The bigger person just smiles and goes on their merry way when sometime tries to push their buttons and get them going.

On that note, now that its back on track, i'd love to post.

In the past, where I used to live, I relied on my friends for a lot. We had a specific workout program, and tried to eat meals together so no one would get off track. If one of us just 'didn't feel' like going, the rest would drag us along anyway. It was so great.

Annnnnd now I hang out with a bunch of lazy people who eat out all the time and whos idea of an 'activity' is beer pong. lol. So its hard. I've gotta rely on myself now to just order a water, or get up early enough to go running in the morning. Im thinking about joining a gym, knowing if i spend more money than i can afford on it... i'll talk myself into going more. I dont know though.
Motivation Why is size 9 a large at hollister co? Jul 29 2007

Reading a few of the replies makes me a bit irritated. Most of the people who shop in those stores are teens. So yeah they may have tons of jeans for skinny people, but there are bigger teens too! Hearing responses like "oh stop complaining. shop somewhere else" are great for older people. But if you're 16-17 and shopping with your friends, and they can wear all the clothes there, you're GOING to get depressed if you can't find your size. And i'm sorry but a size 11 is NOT a plus size or anything. Its pretty frikken common. So stores that target 13-18 year olds SHOULD carry it.
Then again it seems like there are a few people here who just reply in different threads to tell the people who posted it to get over whatever they mentioned. Hmm.

That said, it is a pain to find anything between a 9 and a 14ish. Half the stores around just dont carry them. And the plus size stores like Lane Bryant dont start that low(most of their sizes are 14+)..
Working in a dept store, i know... we get TONS of pants in 0-5s. Annnd then two each of 9 and 11. And one each of anything 13-17. And the bigger sizes go the fastest! The american clothing industry needs to realize not everyone is even healthy with that low of a size.

At work one day a coworker of mine was putting together a little tricycle/planter thing we had in the seasonal section so someone could see what it looked like before they bought it. I was walking by and saw she was having a hard time with it so I stopped to help. The woman wanting to buy it looked at my coworker and actually said "why dont you step aside and let her do it. Wouldn't want to hurt the baby". and you can TELL this girl is not preg... She kinda looked down n said "oh its ok. i'm not having a child". And while most people would apologize, act embarrassed, etc. this woman went "omg im so sorry!! you're just so big!!! I could have SWORN you were 8 or 9 months along!! I'm so sorry! But you're just soooo overweight!!!". She kept going on and on about it.
My coworker sucked it up and finished putting the thing together, was still polite, then after she went into the office and started crying. I wanted to cry for her. :-(
The Lounge some job help? Jul 25 2007
18:33 (UTC)
I only sleep about 5 hours a night as is. I dont work the rest of that time... but my schedule at my main job changes day to day. Sometimes i work 6am-230pm.. sometimes from 10am-630pm.. Its only 37 hours a week too. Plently of time to sleep, as long as i dont plan on going to bed on a schedule.
And i just need it for the money. The job i have isn't quite balencing out the amount of bills i've got. I just want to pay some stuff off... like a $2,000 ER bill from a year ago, get some extra car payments (i pay 350 a month on that..). stuff like that. I'm NEVER ahead. So unless you've got a get rich quick scheme, a second job is my only option. lol
The Lounge i hate smokers Jul 25 2007

Wows. I wouldn't go as far as to say "i hate smokers". but i do hate what some smokers do to ME. Not all, but some... Right before i moved from NY, they made everything smoke free. And it was great. Thennnn I came to texas.

I can pick for myself whether I go out to the bar. I will go with my friends with the knowledge that someone is going to smoke next to me or around me. But is that different from someone holding a cigg right in front of me and blowing the smoke in my face? Uh yeah. Very different.

I dont mind sitting in the smoking section if i'm at Dennys at 3am with 15 other people. I can handle that. But do i want ash drifting into my french fries as the person next to me waves their hand around?

My coweorkers can go outside on breaks for a smoke all they want. But I'm going to get offended if they think they need more breaks than me because they "smoke and can't go 2 WHOLE HOURS without one". And i'm going to turn my nose at you if you breathe in my face and invade my space after. It smells. Try mints. They work wonders.

If you want to take my car, i dont expect anyone to throw a fit because theyre not allowed to smoke in my car. If I get into yours, its your choice to smoke, but it should be my choice to have the windows rolled down a bit.

If a smoker is at my house and its raining, I dont care. If you want to smoke, you will go outside. I'm not letting you smoke in the house no matter how much you cry and whine that its cold or you'll get wet.

Do i live around people who smoke? yeah. Are some of them polite? sure. But, a pretty good majority of them think that just because they have the right to smoke, that means they have the right to inconveinence those around them.

I'll top this off by saying I smoked from age 14-18. I quit almost 4 years ago. When i DID smoke, I made sure that those around me were ok with it, and I went about it in a polite way.

Oooo I want to join in here. The wedding i've gotta be in isn't til this time next year. A very very good friend called me about a month ago telling me she got engaged. (shes about 1,500 miles away!!). Two weeks later she called and told me they're ALREADY planning the wedding, and she wanted me to be a bridesmaid. I'm hella excited.. but at the same time, I hope in that one year I can lose enough weight to look good in a dress!!!

She's letting us pick out whatever dresses we want. I know it sounds crazy. But as long as we stay in her "deep red" color scheme we can wear whatever style will flatter us the most. Plus, it has to come from Davids Bridal. She got one of us in Texas, NY, and VA, sooo thats the only place thats in all locations.
My dream? to look good in THIS dress.
http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycol or_detail.jsp?stid=2807&sid=15558&cfi d=69

If I can't get that tiny, I'm ok with picking a different one. But thats what I WANT to wear. Idealy I want to lose about 30 lbs. I know its not a lot and a year is a long time to do it, but motivation and me do NOT go hand in hand! lol. Theres always some excuse... (ex:this morning i woke up when my alarm went off to go walking... and turned it off to go back to bed because i was cramping too much from girly problems) So getting there is going to be a huge struggle.

But. Just imagining how I can show up and have everyones jaws drop... When I left home to move here I weighed 180. I'm at 160 now, and Idealy want to be 130ish. (more if it was muscle)

On a day to day basis my weight fluctuates between about a five pound difference. I think its that way for everyone. Just depending on if you've used the bathroom recently, how much water, salt, booze, etc you've consumed...
I wouldn't worry too much about a pound. :-)

I might try to up your calories a little bit for awhile and see if it helps. A girl I know had the same exact problem. She went to get some help with it and they told her that with the amount of activity she was doing, she wasn't fueling her body enough for it. The more weights and cardio you do... the more you gotta eat. Shes now at about 2000 calories a day, and losing the weight at a pretty quick speed (2lbs per week again!!). So that MIGHT be your problem. Also take a look at what you're eating. Missing key nutrients could be the reason you feel so sluggish. If you can't figure it out, i'd make an appt to see a nutritionist.
Weight Loss How many lbs is a size 14/13? Jul 25 2007

I'm 5'5 right now. 160 lbs. And sizes depend.
I just bought a pair of shorts from Aero that I fit into a 11/12 in.
The brand SO, made just for kohls? I couldn't get a 13 up over my hips... (THAT makes you feel bad about yourself, so side note:NEVER BUY THAT BRAND!)
LEI I just bought a 15. (13 was way too tight, but i need a belt with the 15, GRRR).
And in jeans I've had for 4-5 years.... (yeah i keep EVERYthing) I can still fit into my 7/8s (a bit tight i admit) in a few...

So, not only does it depend on your build, but on the brand. I wish every brand was universal sizing!!

Wichita falls for who asked where i live.

And i know how you feel caz. You dont WANT boys to be a motivator.. but at the same time, it IS kind of hard to make any sort of friends, guys OR girls, when you're not in as good of shape to go out and do some of the things other people do.

Heya! I'm in the same boat as many here. I'm 21(less than 2 weeks and i can say 22. yippee).. and single. I can't say I've been single for a long time, or I've ever been mostly single. I've always had some sort of support from a guy relationship wise up until recently. Most of the guys i've dated lasted about 2 years each..... Uppp until moving to Texas.

Since coming here, I dont know what it is. I just keep picking the absolute losers. And i'm alright with that for now. I'm concentrating on working full time and making enough to pay off some debts and work on my overall health for a bit, by myself. Its hard without someone to lean on, but at the same time the accomplishments are for ME now. If that makes sense.

My major issue is motivation. I know if i have to be to work at 10am, that i've got plently of time to get up and go workout.... buuut i never end up out of bed til 9. Plus going out with friends means i cave in to a few bud lights. I think if i had even a hint of motivation from ANYone around me it would be easier.

And *cough cough* I'm guilty of the world of warcraft as well. A boy got me playing it, and i got to the point of playing more than him. lol. (within a month i shot from newb to lvl 55. oopsy)...
Now I dont have *as much* time for it. but the time I DO spend on it I know i could be out doing a lot more than that.
Foods TEA . . . Which do you drink and how much? Jul 24 2007

My choices probably aren't the healthiest in the world. First, i dont really like any hot teas, so I stick to cold.
When i can find the huge packs at Sams I buy the Fuze teas. Theres green, white, oolong, and one other one i believe. I LOVE the oolong....
And when thats not available I stock up on Lipton raspberry white tea. In bottles.
Annnnnd I go through a canister of lipton green tea powder a week. Just adding enough to taste it to my water. If I didn't, i wouldn't drink nearly as much water.

So are my choices healthiest? prooobably not. lol. Suger and all that junk added. But boy oh boy i'd never give them up!

I just stick to the kids meals. Like Msspeech said, if you get the healthier side options, its actually a pretty good sized meal. And if i'm going to mcdonalds, i'm not going to deprive myself of a burger! Just dont get the cheese, and add some more veggi's.
Plus, I have never understood going there and spending the $6ish on a salad that you could make taste better AND have lower calories if you made it at home. Mcdonalds salads always creep me out a bit anyways.
Foods Need Help On Going Out To Eat Jul 11 2007

You could always ask them how its prepared, if its cooked in butter, etc... Or assume that the item is (unless otherwise stated), and ask them to prepare it differently... But if you're doing during lunch or dinner hours i wouldn't personally do this. As someone whos worked in a kitchen before, i can tell you that it does irritate some cooks to have to stop what they're doing in the middle of a busy service to prepare your meal in a different way. (especially if they need other pans, etc they dont have out).. If you do this please tip your waiter even more, because chances are, they're getting crap for it. lol

Or, just plan it into your day. Box half of it first. Get a salad. Ask if they have low fat/no fat dressings for it. Or top it with salsa instead. You dont always have to eat off the weight watchers menu either if you realize things like... the steamed tilapia is better for you than the chicken alfrado. If it says fried, loaded, or any other key words like that, dont get it..Order veggis as your side instead of fries. Or ask about other sides. While many aren't mentioned on the menu, its usually not a big deal to swap it for applesauce or something similar.
Or just order off the kids menu if you can. :-P smaller portions.
Foods Is Subway lying? Jul 10 2007

The only problem I have with subway are some of the morons they employ, just like every other company. lol
I think EVERY Time i go in there i get funny looks when I say no cheese. And get asked four times if i'm sure i want no cheese. I'm sorry, I happen just not to like it on my subs!
I ask for it to be loaded with the veggi's. Last time I was there I got a 6inch. and got one slice of green pepper. and asked for more. and got one more. so i asked for a handful and he looked at me like i just told him that his mom died or something....
Not to mention i asked for oil n vin. and he picked up one in each hand... and as he squirted it only put oil on half and vin on the other. so i asked if he could please switch hands and do it again. He asked why. "well the first part of my sandwich is going to taste like oil. And the last half will only taste like vinegar". FDSATI$FDNA<SEROIAEWFADSK<FAHJDSIASVNA& lt;>DJEQ%$(I$&YREH?GMSAFFXGIDS.

But yeah. If the person eating there isn't smart enough to realize that if they load down their sandwich with tons of meat cheeses and sauce, its not a healthy meal... it isn't really the companys fault. Its the consumer for not having the common sense to figure it out.

The Lounge Paris going back to jail! Jun 09 2007

Can anyone tell me why people are getting SO worked up about this?
If you read in some paper about someone in some distant state, that you've never met, going to jail for probation violation.. chances are you wouldn't give a rats a$$. So why do so many people care about her? I mean, keeping up with the news is one thing, but actually getting worked up about it? its crazy.

But I do think that they just put her in jail to prove a point. There are soo many people who do the same things every day. They get their license taken away and a slap on the wrist for the most part. I personally, dont want MY tax money going to house someone who really doesn't *need* to be in jail when there are other alternatives.
