Fitness good idea to have protein shakes/supplements as part of diet?? Jul 01 2007

Currently I'm weighing 333lbs with 30 lbs of muscle. I still need to lose weight. But I have a trainer who told me what type of protein shakes to take. Because well, I'm not taking in enough protein.

It's not really my fault: I've never been a BIG meat eater, all my life. My mom can tell you that.  lol. I love veggies, and soups and bread (bad stuff) lol but I love small tiny bits of meat. I always pick the smallest steak or cut it in half, the smallest piece of chicken, I seldom eat roast beef etc.

I'm allergic to nuts (all sorts), pork, some dairy products like 2% of milk, but I can drink 1% milk (so its not a big time allergy).
Even corn doesn't like me or tuna or salmon. The minute I smell it I break out in a rash. It's nuts!!

I take a Whey Isolate (tons of flavours to choose from, my favourite is: Chocolate chip Cookie Dough or French Vanilla).

I also take a meal supplement shake too called "Slim" in French Vanilla.  It's good but I'm thinking buying another one with different flavour. I don't care for it much as far as flavour goes. But it does help before my workout. mmm.

Love to hear how you do in the future.

Marianne.
Fitness holy muscle Jul 01 2007

OmgKatie: Yep that sure is muscle.
You see "MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT"

My fitness trainer told me that. Here I was thinking, OMG I gained weight and I really truly was gaining and thought "CRAP, I gotta lose that weight or I'll never reach my goal".

Funny thing I found out: It's NOT FAT-
I got my body re-checked out on the Body Percentage of fat and I'm 46%. I was 49% originally.
So I guess I'm losing lol.

Change to my body with muscle:
My husband see's the areas where I'm losing and I don't know I don't see it except my waist. I know its getting smaller.

I recently bought a pair of XL jogging pants my husband picked out, I doubted that I could wear them. They fit excellent, still slightly baggy plus They are NIKE! lol
So that's like going from a 4X (My usual use to be size in womens Plus to a 2X that's just crazy!  I'm psyched. But some jogging pants fit me as an XL which is great too.

So here I went from 330 lbs originally to 333 lbs (It doesn't look like much but I've got more muscle now. Actually truth is, I found it the 30lbs is muscle. lol.

Technically speaking I'm now weighing 303 lbs with 30lbs of muscle. I bet any $$ that its my upper body.

I've always had strong calves because I cycle, swim and walk, so I've always maintained great form there. People use to tell me that's fat, I said "touch me there and ask me again" Then they are like: It's not flabby, its strong. (this is where I say: told you so!) lol.

How my clothes feel now:
I tried on a shirt of mine that I bought in Scotland 2 years ago, at the time it fit me bigger than usual. It's now tight on the arms, because of the muscle I gained there lol. I love the shirt but I think I'm going to have to make it into a tank top now. Darnnit. But I'm proud of my forearm, bicep, tricep, shoulder muscle gain. I'm toning up there, its an awesome feeling.

I went down 2 dress sizes so its a great feeling.

How I changed in exercise:
In the last 5 months of weight training with a trainer.
I've went from a 30lbs of pushing the lat pulldown (seated) to doing 3 sets of 16 of 90lbs and I'm "strong like bull" as my trainer motivates me by saying that. (I'm a Taurus-lol)

-Chest press I started at 30lbs, I'm now doing 60lbs.

I use to work out 2x a week when I was on a 6 week Fat loss program but I injured my knee in between that program. I still stuck it out, I just had to decrease my water intake (doc orders) because I had water retention in my foot.

I work out now 3x a week with 1 day dedicated with a trainer to cardio.

About my knee injury + working out:
I've increased everything and it feels really good. Even considering that I have a knee injury. (Actually its alot of swelling + Arthritis but doc's ordered me some conditioning exercises to do, which I am doing: swimming, stand up bike, rowing, etc)

But I'm still pushing towards my goal with proper meal planning, exercise

So remember OMGkatie that "MUSCLE weighs more than FAT" So congrats. We should have somewhere on this CC site to have "Before, during and After shots of what we look like, I think that could be cool!"

I've been told Acii's shoes are great for people who have Flat Feet. They cost about $160. CDN (But they help with your feet).

The other is New Balance: I wear the men's one, because I have bunion problems with my big toe and baby toe on my left foot. The mens one gives you good toe space (Feels super relaxing) I got my shoes for $60.00 CDN (SportChek) (Good for running too)

Hope that helps!

My husband wears addidas for shock support for high arches, they are black and orange: they don't sell them anymore. He paid about $100.00+ for them and he wears them all the time. I think he lives and breathes them.  He's huge on Addidas clothing because he runs.

Marianne.

I like reebox and Nike to be honest.

I couldn't find you posting on there anymore, but thought I'd send you this just in case.

    Oh boy

The Drop down:

R: Loopy
R: Gizzard
C: Face
LOOPY  GIZZARD FACE (that's with my maiden name)

With my married name it would have been

R: Loopy
R: Gizzard
N: Chunks

But because my last name is hyphenated with my maiden and married name it would be the first one lol.

Foods Annyone else addicted to cheese? Jun 12 2007

My life would be empty without that slice of cheese and apple mmmm. Just like how about Chocolate Cheese Cake. Gawd, what I wouldn't give for that right now.

I'm pretty devoted to cheese and its torture trying to wean away from it. grrr. I've always liked cheese and I can't understand it but my husband hates Eggs, Cheese, Butter etc. Yet he likes Pancakes (Eggs, Butter etc).

I don't like Butter though, but I do eat the seldom egg but Cheese, mmmm: Grilled Cheese especially or how about Cream Cheese on a bagel with Tomatos and a little bit of salt and pepper (They call this Open Faced Bagel with cream cheese: Super yummy).

When I do have cheese I go for the low % one (Skim or something). Because anything else doesn't agree with me.

Darnnit, I want cheese now. lol (Oh but I don't like eating Cottage Cheese anymore: It's not the same like Mozza or Cheddar or Marble).
lol

The Lounge Has anyone tried out other site for weightloss help? Jun 12 2007

Yeah weight watcher's didn't do me justice. I couldn't understand the point system thing. I was part of Nutrisystem and that was bad too, then Slim Fast, that was a mistake in the happening.

I finally just settled for the gym and having a trainer. It costs $$ but she works with me with the things I can do and can't do. I feel limited because I have a knee injury (Fell on black ice- 3 months ago)

But Fitday yes, it was like adding constantly foods that I was eating and trying to find out how much calories were in it. I wish they would update their data base.

I tried other sites out too and got miserable with them.  I came across this one when I was searching  Weight watcher vs Calorie intake and voila Calorie Counting came up. I joined right away. Thought heck it can't be bad, and I've been hear since a couple days ago.
lol.

Funny how things happen like that.

P.S. I tried Dr. Phil, SlimFast, Nutrisystem, Weigh Watchers and I've even tried seeing a dietician but I'm allergic to some products to trying to pick alternatives is torture. I don't want to be a vegetarian cos I do like some meat, just not all meat.

Welcome to my Torture City lol.

Me personally I don't like Weight Watchers.
I don't like the point system because it doesn't truly tell you how much Calories you are bringing in or counting out. I actually just researched this a couple days ago after my own mother stating how great weight watcher's is.

I never saw any of my weight come off in the 5 months I was in the program and was depressed because of it. So I started exercising at the gym and being trained by my husband and eating well and guess what happened? 20 lbs came off. Just like that.

I wondered why it didn't come off like that. I think me attending the support groups was making me sleepy and with the fact they didn't allow us to participate, I got bored easy. I understand your frustration and I'm here for you.

I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I'm more pumped up now then I ever was.

*smile*

Ok what if we want to lose 150lbs. Or maybe more. I'm at the 300 ish mark and yes I'm not proud of it. But I know I'm working on it.

Will tell you this, in 1 year working out at the gym, I have gone down 2% body percentage of fat. From 49% to 47% (So I think I'm headed in the right direction).

My weight still looks terrible but my trainer tries to remind me that.... Remember you have gained upper body strength by 30lbs, so let's see that's like you gained 30lbs because of muscle mass. So maybe that weight is not too bad. But I still want to look thinner and still want to look more appealing for my husband and friends.

I want so badly to fit into a pair of 20's jeans (for Plus people but right now I'm stuck at 26) Grrrr.  Maybe with me not working now, I can get focused, I don't know but I will try.

Anyone been in my boat.. Oh yes I must say this too. Anyone been in this boat including a Knee Injury?  (Can't forget the obvious thing I got to deal with: I slid on black ice 3 months ago and its not healed entirely, but I am working out at the gym 3 x a week for 1 hour with a Trainer, even eating properly and taking in Protein Drinks.

Please get back to me if you share in this!

Foods Green Tea-good stuff! Jun 12 2007
15:20 (UTC)

Even if I wanted to drink Diet anything I can't. Epileptics or people with Seizures are NOT RECOMMENDED to drink DIET or anything with ASPARTAME.

Just to let you know ASPARTAME sets off Petit Mal Seizures. If you know anyone who has epilepsy and drinking or eating stuff with Aspartame, tell them they will feel 100x better without the Aspartame,.. I believe the only gum without it out there is Juicy Fruit.

Just wanted to let you know.

Note: If you have allergies to Ragweed or Flowers etc, be careful of what Herbal tea drinks you drink, because some of them could be made out of the flower that you are allergic to. Like Camomile for example: I love Green tea. Green tea is a great detoxifier for the body and plus it helps INCREASE your Energy: You can drink it Hot or Cold. It's good either way (But don't add sugar to it-It's better without).

Am I really here umm ok. Newbie that's for sure I am.

I only saw one person on here fairly close to my weight and here I'm thinking I can't post my weight, people are going to freak.

I'm 5'8 and 3/4's exactly so let's say: 5'9
Married Female
33
Medium Frame: What's that? I'm not big like the earth, but then again I'm not skinny like a rail does that make me medium? or Large frame? Ok how about a few extra lbs.
330lbs

Good news: I work out 3x a week with a trainer, Part of a 6 week program with Good Life Fitness, I've increased on strength since training and in 1 year I have decreased in Body Percentage of fat: I started at 49% and I'm now 47%. Yay!

Reason behind me being 330lbs:
- Injured my knee almost 3 months ago: fell on black ice on a knee I've had a previous knee surgery on 8 years ago.
-The facture clinic as of yesterday has given me a cortisone shot in my knee for reduced pain and swelling. Also, I'm not allowed to do any bending of the knee exercises just straight leg exercises (May limit me but I'm allowed to do the treadmill) PHEW!
- I definitely want to lose weight and gain more muscle (Which I think I've gained muscle mass already because I'm 30lbs stronger in my upper body strength) (maybe that's where the 30lbs is from lol)
- I take daily protein shakes with whey isolate (told to take by my trainer) mmm
- I also take a Slim all natural, Meal replacement shake when I'm having an "off" day when I don't want to eat. I get them sometimes.

I think I'm a triplet to Kerry07, she weighed 360lbs back in April --I know she found her twin.
But I'd love to get in touch with any male or female that is my weight-any age. I could use the support.

I would definitely want to help support you in reaching your goal too. I'm that type of person.

Give me a e-mail shout if you are a twin or triplet to me, I'd love to hear from anyone. (this is day 1 on this thing/site)
